Scene 1

It’s early evening in Genoa City. Lily Winters Ashby is alone at her house when there’s a knock on the door. She answers the door and sees her brother Devon Hamilton Winters and his girlfriend Roxanne Porter. “Hey!” Lily exclaims excitedly as she gives Devon a hug, “Hi Roxy.” “Hey,” Roxanne says back, “You look great!” “Thank you!” Lily replies, “You know, I feel great too. For once, I can say that and mean it.” “Yeah, well, it definitely shows,” Devon adds, “You look healthy… and well-rested… Lily, I’m so proud of you.”

They take a seat in the living room. “Okay, enough about me,” Lily decides, “What brings you two by?” “Well, I just wanted to see my sister before I go away,” Devon tells her. “Why? Where are you going?” Lily inquires. “To Seattle… to see Ana,” Devon explains, “She’ll be away at summer camp for the rest of the summer, and she wants to see me before she goes.” “Ah, that’s so sweet,” Lily replies, “I know how much you miss her.”

Scene 2

In the living room of the Abbott Manor, Jack Abbott and his former girlfriend Diane Jenkins discuss their living arrangements. Jack reacts to Diane’s announcement that she plans to move into the mansion with him and their son, Kyle Abbott. “So you just decided on your own that you were gonna move in here?” Jack clarifies, “What about your job? You work for a prestigious architectural firm back in Vancouver…” “Actually, I should have no problem keeping my job,” Diane states cryptically, “Some recent developments have coincidentally worked in my favor.” Jack is slightly confused. “What’s that supposed to mean?” he inquires. “You’ll find out the details soon enough,” Diane responds, “but to make a long story short, I can remain in Genoa City and keep my job as an architect.” “Fine, that’s great, but why do you need to live here – in this house? I’ve offered you the Pool House. You can go to the Athletic Club…” “You said it yourself,” Diane reminds him, “We should both be close to Kyle.” “Yes! But is that all you’re thinking about Diane?” Jack questions, suspicious of her motives. “I don’t like what you’re implying,” Diane retorts. “I just wanna make sure you understand… because if your wanting to live here has anything to do with wanting to be close to me again, it’s not gonna happen. I just lost Emily. Now my sole focus is Kyle. So we are… housemates,” Jack states, “Nothing more…”

Scene 3

Phyllis Summers Newman is at home at the Newman Tack House, waiting in the living room for her husband Nicholas Newman to return from the office. Nick comes home and Phyllis rushes over to greet him and give him a hug. “There you are, Baby,” she says, “It’s about time.” “I know… I’m late again,” Nick admits, “Meeting ran overtime. But I’m gonna cut back my hours from now on. I promise…” Phyllis doesn’t look convinced, but doesn’t say anything. “Um, so how were things over here?” Nick asks.

“Fine. Okay, I guess… I feel better,” Phyllis replies, “Now that I’ve changed my number. No more strange phone calls.” “And with the increased security at the Ranch, no one’s getting on the property either,” Nick assures his wife. “I have been looking forward to a night like this for a long time,” Phyllis admits, “Just the three of us… you, me, and Supergirl.” “You know what? I would love to do that, but I told Sharon I would stop by and see Faith tonight,” Nick reveals. “She’ll be asleep,” Phyllis tells him, referring to Faith. “I know, but I haven’t seen her in a while,” Nick responds. “Why didn’t you go there on your way home?” Phyllis questions, “You could have stopped at the Main House before you got here. Why do you have to come home only to leave again?” “Sharon’s not in right now,” Nick answers, justifying why he couldn’t have gone to see Faith earlier. “But Faith is,” Phyllis says, “She’s with the sitter. So it sounds to me, Nick, like you’re just as interested in seeing Sharon as you are Faith.”

Scene 4

JT Hellstrom sits at a table in Crimson Lights Coffee House, sipping a coffee. His ex-wife Victoria Newman walks in. Their eyes meet, and Victoria approaches JT. “So Round 2 starts today,” she states, referring to the fact that they have an upcoming meeting with Roseanne Ryerson, the Guardian Ad Litem overseeing the custody case for their son, Reed Hellstrom. “Don’t say it like this is some kind of war,” JT responds. “Isn’t it?” Victoria questions, “If you didn’t take my son away from me, I wouldn’t have to fight for him… where is he anyway?” “Reed’s with Mackenzie,” JT replies. “Oh, of course he is,” Victoria comments, with obvious resentment in her voice, “What a surprise. You know, I shouldn’t even have to ask anymore. When he’s not with either one of us, he’s with her these days.” “Well, I’m not gonna bring him to a meeting with my lawyer,” JT fires back. “Is that why you’re here… to meet with your lawyer?” Victoria inquires. “That’s right,” JT confirms. “Oh… I’m meeting Michael here,” Victoria informs JT.

Scene 5

Michael Baldwin is leaving the Athletic Club, where he just finished a private business meeting with a client. Alex Perez is coming down the stairs. Michael catches a quick glimpse of her and does a quick double-take before realizing it’s definitely her. “I was wondering when I’d run into you,” Alex says. “Wow! Well, this is a surprise!” Michael exclaims, “A pleasant one, to be sure… How are you?” He gives her a hug. “I’m… adjusting,” Alex responds, “to being back here and… everything.” “Have you seen…,” Michael starts to ask, but Alex completes his thought for him. “Malcolm?” she says, “Yeah, a few days ago.” “I can imagine that was quite a shock for you,” Michael tells her. “A shock doesn’t even begin to describe it,” Alex replies, “It was a magnitude 10 on the Richter Scale.” “Genoa City certainly has a reputation for that,” Michael jokes. “I remember,” Alex says. “Listen, I’m running a little late right now. I’m expected elsewhere,” Michael announces, “but promise me, we’ll catch up really soon.” “Definitely,” Alex agrees. “Alright, look, here’s my card,” Michael says, as he hands her a business card, “Call me on my cell any time and we’ll work something out.”

Scene 6

Lily, Devon, and Roxanne continue their conversation in the living room of the Ashby Residence. Suddenly, her dog Humphrey runs into the room. “Hello Humphrey!” Lily calls out. She picks him up. “He’s really excited, isn’t he?” Devon notices. ‘Yeah, he loves company,” Lily answers, “Um, it’s actually time for his walk.” “Here, I can do that!” Devon offers. “Sure,” Lily agrees. She grabs Humphrey’s leash and puts around his neck. She hands the leash to Devon and he takes Humphrey outside, leaving Lily and Roxanne alone.

Lily turns to Roxanne. “Um, can I ask you something?” she says. “Sure,” Roxanne agrees. “You’re worried about Devon being around Tyra, aren’t you?” Lily asks, knowingly. Roxanne isn’t sure how to answer, but her face gives everything away…

Scene 7

At the Abbott Manor, Jack and Diane continue their conversation. “No, Jack. We’re much more than housemates,” Diane corrects him, “We’re two parents trying to establish control over our teenage son. We have to make sure he has a solid foundation before he embarks on his adult life. That’s the only way he’ll be successful.” “I know that,” Jack agrees. “Then rest assured, Jack. That is the only reason I’m moving in here. Because it’ll take the two of us working together, being here for Kyle, whenever he needs us.”

Scene 8

Back at the Ashby Residence, Roxanne confirms to Lily that she feels uneasy about Devon going to visit Tyra and Ana. “You must think it’s silly of me,” she begins, “I mean, Devon has been nothing but great to me this past year.” “But you still can’t forget what he did to you, right?” Lily asks, already knowing the answer. “I have forgiven him, though,” Roxanne responds. Lily nods. “I know,” she says, “I just want you to remember… Devon, he’ll only be gone for a few days. Then, he’s coming back to you.” Roxanne realizes that Lily’s husband, Cane Ashby, is unable to return to her because he’s been deported. “Lily, I’m so sorry,” she apologizes, “I didn’t mean to minimize what you’re going through over Cane. You must think that this is so insensitive of me…” “No. No, I don’t think that at all,” Lily assures her, “but I want you to trust in Devon and his love for you… Can you do that?” Roxanne manages a slight smile, but she still looks hesitant. “I’ll try,” she answers.

Scene 9

Alex arrives and Crimson Lights to meet with JT. Victoria is the first one to spot her. “Alex?” she calls out. “Hi Victoria,” Alex replies. “I’m so surprised to see you here,” Victoria admits, “I wasn’t sure it was you at first… I never expected you’d be back in Genoa City.” “A job opportunity came along,” Alex explains, “I decided to take it. I thought that I was ready to come back.”

JT approaches Alex and Victoria. “Alex, hi,” he greets her. “You two know each other?” Victoria asks. “Yes, we have a meeting,” Alex replies. “She’s your lawyer?” Victoria realizes, “What happened to Bruce?” “Bruce couldn’t continue with the case due to a family emergency,” JT answers, “I needed a lawyer… Tucker introduced me to Alex, and it was good timing. She was willing to take the case.” Victoria turns to Alex. “And you knew I was the other party in the case? How could you do this to me?” Victoria lashes out, “You worked with my family… we were friends, and now you’re gonna help JT in his fight to take my son away from me?” “Victoria, I’m really sorry that you’re taking this the wrong way,” Alex informs her.

Michael arrives at the Coffee House from the back door and sees Alex, Victoria, and JT together. He can sense the tension. “Everything alright?” he asks. “Michael, look who’s back in town,” Victoria replies. “Yes, we ran into each other earlier,” Michael reveals, “Hello again, Alex.” “Did she tell you that she’s JT’s lawyer?” Victoria inquires. “She had no reason to…,” Michael replies before turning to Alex, “Are you?” “Yes,” Alex confirms, “I am JT’s lawyers.” “Oh, well, I’ve gone up against many friends in the courtroom, and still won,” Michael tells Victoria. Alex smirks.

“Victoria, let’s leave these two alone,” Michael suggests, “We have to go over your list of collateral contacts…” “So do we,” Alex says to JT. Michael turns back to Alex. “Adversaries, not enemies, right?” he asks. “Of course,” Alex replies.

Scene 10

Back at the Ashby Residence, Devon rejoins Lily and Roxanne after having taken Humphrey out for a walk. “Are you ready to take off?” he asks Roxanne, “I have to do some last-minute packing…” “Okay, I’m ready whenever you are,” Roxanne answers. Lily stands up to give them each another hug. “Thanks for the talk,:” Roxanne whispers to Lily. “Anytime,” Lily replies, before turning to Devon, “Call me…” “I will,” he answers, “Bye.”

As Devon and Roxanne are leaving, Sharon is walking up the porch to the front door of Lily’s house. “Hi, you two,” she says to them in passing. They greet her back and continue on their way. Lily notices Sharon and waits for her in the doorway. “Sharon, hi,” she says, “Please come in.”

Scene 11

Roseanne Ryerson joins JT, Victoria, Michael, and Alex at the Coffee House to meet with the four of them. “Ms. Ryerson, thanks for agreeing to meet us here,” Michael says, taking charge of the meeting. “Thank you for arranging this, Mr. Baldwin,” Roseanne replies, “Since you’re all here together, there was no sense in having you come all the way to my office.” Alex hands Roseanne a document. “We’ve compiled a list of collateral contacts for JT Hellstrom,” she says. Michael holds a similar document. “And we’ve done the same for Victoria Newman,” Michael informs her, as he hands her the document, “Oh, let me just change one thing on there first…” He takes the paper back. “Please do,” Roseanne agrees. “Phyllis just changed her number,” Michael realizes. He records her new phone number and gives the list to Roseanne. She skims through the files.

“Mr. Hellstrom, you don’t wish for any family members to be interviewed?” she clarifies. “I told you before, I’m not close to my family,” JT reiterates, “I have numerous friends and acquaintances in town who can provide a much better assessment of my parenting skills.” “Very well,” Roseanne agrees, “and Ms. Newman…” She turns to Victoria and glances at the list of witnesses Michael and Victoria provided. Michael steps in. “Ms. Newman has a large extended family residing in Genoa City who have taken a strong interest in the upbringing of the child. They would be more than happy and more than qualified to attest to her lovingness and attentiveness as a parent to Reed Hellstrom. We have also listed several non-relatives who have observed Ms. Newman’s interactions with her son and can testify to her capabilities.”
“You’ll find that the list of witnesses provided by Mr. Hellstrom are able to do the same on his behalf,” Alex adds. “Good,” Roseanne says, “I’ll see to it that I speak to each of these contacts right away. I should warn you… from here on out, things are gonna start moving faster so that an official custody agreement can be reached as soon as possible.”

Scene 12

At the Newman Tack House, Nick defends his decision to see Sharon and Faith to Phyllis. “This is not just some attempt to see Sharon, if that’s what you’re thinking,” he tries to convince his wife. “That is what I’m thinking,” Phyllis confirms, “but the thing is, I don’t know why, Nick. Sharon has told you she wants to be left alone. But you just can’t seem to let go. Why is that?”
“Okay, I admit, I want to check in with her. Find out how she’s doing,” Nick says, “She’s going through a very difficult time.” “I’m going through a very difficult time!” Phyllis shouts. “And you have me. That is a promise. That is a fact. I will be there for you,” Nick maintains, “but Sharon has no one right now. And I’m not gonna apologize for worrying about her… as Faith’s mother.” “Oh, as Faith’s mother. That’s all?” Phyllis fights back. “Yes. That’s all,” Nick repeats, agitated, “I’m not gonna have this argument with you every time I go to see my daughter.” “We wouldn’t, if she was the only one you were going to see,” Phyllis clarifies. Not wanting to create a conflict, Nick walks out, turning back only to say, “I’ll be home soon… I promise…” Phyllis is left by the doorway, feeling alone and very frustrated.

Scene 13

Jack rejoins Diane in the living room of the Abbott Manor. “I’m sorry I sounded so suspicious earlier,” he apologizes. Diane brushes it off. “I understand why you would be,” she admits, “The Old Diane… sometimes she was willing to use a bad situation to her advantage.” “You ain’t kiddin’,” Jack responds, thinking of the time that Diane framed Phyllis for attempted murder by burning down the Pool House. “Think of all the games Phyllis and I used to play with each other,” Diane reminisces, “You know, sometimes I miss those…” Jack gives her a look. Diane laughs. “I’m kidding. I’m glad to have Phyllis out of my life, and I’m glad that I have the best job in the world, and that’s being a mother.” “You really have changed, haven’t you?” Jack realizes. “Yes, I have,” Diane states confidently, “Jack, when we first met, we were so young. So immature. And selfish too. I wanted to be top Jabot model; you wanted to be President of Jabot. We both knew what we wanted and we went after it. And we got it.” “And we hurt a lot of people along the way,” Jack adds, thinking of Patty, “I don’t need to be reminded of that.” “Did you ever think back then that we would have a son together, and still be a part of each other’s lives?” Diane asks. “No, it’s funny how things turn out sometimes,” Jack admits, “That we’re connected to each other for life because of a mistaken sample used at the lab… a mistake I want you to know that I don’t regret.”

Scene 14

At the Ashby Residence, Lily and Sharon sit on the couch together, discussing motherhood. “I can’t tell you how glad I am that you stopped by!” Lily informs Sharon, “Being a first-time mom-to-be, I just have so many questions and worries, you know… and I don’t have my mother here to help me. But you were her best friend, so it helps knowing that you’re here.” “Yeah, I think it would make Dru happy knowing that I can look out for you and give you guidance,” Sharon agrees.

The doorbell rings. “Apparently, I’m really popular today,” Lily states, “Would you excise me for a second?” “Of course,” Sharon states. Lily answers the door and sees Traci Abbott Connolly standing in the doorway. “Hi, Sweetie!” Traci exclaims, as she hugs Lily, “Oh, it’s so good to see you!” “You too,” Lily replies, “Wow. This is such a surprise!” “I hope this isn’t a bad time,” Traci says. “Oh, not at all,” Lily assures her. Traci comes inside and sees Sharon. “Hi Traci,” Sharon greets her. “Sharon, it’s good to see you,” Traci says. “You too,” Sharon answers, “Um… I was just leaving, so I’ll give you two some time to catch up.” She stands up from the couch. “Oh, please don’t leave on my account,” Traci tells her. “No, I’m not,” Sharon responds, “I have to get back home to Faith.” “How is she – my niece?” Traci asks before correcting herself, “Well, I know she’s not really my niece, but it’s hard not to think of her that way…” “Faith’s fine; she’s good,” Sharon mutters, “We’re all adjusting as best as we can, and I think Faith is finally comfortable around me and Nick.” “Good, good,” Traci nods, “I’m glad to hear that.” “Yeah… um, Ashley, she still sees Faith too… from time to time,” Sharon adds “We just ran into each other at the Coffee House last week.” “I spent some time with my sister earlier,” Traci explains, “She seems like she’s doing well.”

“How’re you holding up?” Sharon asks. “Does it ever get easier?” Traci responds, obviously talking about Colleen now. “You learn to live with it,” Sharon answers gently, “You accept it, but you never get over losing a child… on some level, that pain and emptiness will always be there…” “That’s exactly how I feel… empty,” Traci acknowledges. “But you know, when you feel that way, you have to remember, you’ll always have your memories of Colleen, and those precious moments that you’ve shared together, those are what’ll get you through it… remembering the good times, it helps to take some of the pain away.” “I’ll try to remember that,” Traci says softly, trying not to tear up. “And you can call me if you ever need to talk,” Sharon offers. “Thank you,” Traci says sincerely, “I really appreciate that.”

Scene 15

JT, Victoria, Alex, Michael, and Roseanne continue their custody meeting at Crimson Lights. “Now, while we’re all here, I’d like to talk to you about the next steps,” Roseanne begins, “I’ll spend the next week interviewing those on your contact lists. And then, next will be the home visits…” “You mean, with Reed present, right?” Victoria asks. “Yes, Reed will be present,” Roseanne confirms, “I’ll go over this again with you later, but in essence, the purpose of each visit will be to not only review the home environment, but also to observe how you interact with your child. How do you engage him? How do you set boundaries? What kind of discipline do you use, if any? And more importantly, how does your child react to each of you? These are the questions that I need to be able to answer without doubt in order to make my recommendation to the court as to who should be granted custody of Reed.” “You have nothing to worry about,” Michael says quietly to Victoria, although everyone else hears too. “Neither do you,” Alex assures JT.

Scene 16

Nick has joined Sharon and their daughter Faith Newman in the living room of the Main House on the Newman Ranch, now that she’s returned from Lily’s. “It’s been far too long since I’ve seen my little girl, spent time with her…,” he announces as he rocks Faith in his arms. “She looks so peaceful,” Sharon observes, “We have two beautiful children, Nick.” “Yeah, we sure do,” Nick replies, “They take after their mother.” Sharon smiles. “And their father,” Sharon says back. “Well, that too,” Nick accepts the compliment. He continues to rock Faith back and forth. “It seems like just yesterday that Noah was that small,” Sharon realizes, “But we’ve both gone through so much, and changed so much since then…” “Noah too,” Nick comments, “Pretty soon, we won’t be able to call him a kid anymore.” “Our first adult child,” Sharon whispers, thinking of how Cassie never survived into adulthood. Nick understands what she meant. “Yeah,” he mutters, not sure what else to say. “You know, despite everything, he’s turned out so well,” Sharon adds, “He’s done great in school, he’s great with Summer and Faith, he has a nice girlfriend…” “We really hit the jackpot, didn’t we?” Nick responds. “Yeah, but I think a lot of it had to do with how we handled things, you know, after we split up,” Sharon explains, “It was hard for a while, but we always remained committed to doing what was best for Noah… I want us to do a good job with Faith too…” “It’ll be harder… you know, ‘cause we’re not together,” Nick realizes, “I mean, Noah at least got to grow up with his parents being married and living together for half of his life but, uh, Faith won’t get to experience that.” “Plenty of families now-a-days are like that, Nick,” Sharon replies, “This is the situation we’re in and we have to deal with it… I know we can manage.”

Scene 17

Meanwhile, at the Newman Tack House, Phyllis has called her best friend Michael over to comfort her as she vents once again about Nick and Sharon’s connection. “Nick -- he just promised me… he just promised me that Summer and I were his first priority. And then, there he goes off with Sharon and Faith at the first opportunity,” Phyllis vents to Michael. “Are you sure you’re not blowing this out of proportion?” Michael asks, “I mean, don’t begrudge the man a little time with his daughter.” “He can do that alone,” Phyllis replies harshly, “Why does he have to go see Faith when she’s there?” “I thought you had worked through these insecurities,” Michael tells her, “I thought things were going better between the two of you.” “They’re always going better… for a few days,” Phyllis replies, “until Sharon needs something. Sharon this; Sharon that. I am so sick of Sharon… And to make things worse, I have to play so strong with my husband… because the last thing I want is to be like sweet, fragile, needy Sharon. But why can’t he see that I need him right now? Me. His wife. Why can’t he see that, Michael? Why can’t he see that?”

Scene 18

Lily and Traci have been catching up in the living room of the Ashby Residence. “Seeing you married, about to have children of your own, it makes me realize what we’re missing out on with Colleen,” Traci confesses, “But I know she wouldn’t want me to dwell on that…” “Just like Sharon said… you can’t dwell on the negative,” Lily states, “You have to think of all your happy memories.”

Traci sees Lily’s wedding picture. “That’s a beautiful wedding photo,” she points out, before asking, “Where is Cane?” “Um, he was actually deported back to Australia,” Lily informs Traci, “He could only stay in the country as long as I was sick. But now I’m better so… you know…” She trails off. “Oh, Lily, I’m so sorry,” Traci says, “I had no idea…” “Yeah, it’s been really hard, but life goes on,” “For the longest time, I was the one thinking who was feeling sorry for myself… and angry at the world for all the curveballs that kept being thrown at me, but I had to remember I have so much to be grateful for… Life… I mean, I just beat cancer, despite having all the odds against me. Now, I have my family, I’m about to be the mother to two beautiful babies… um, actually, I was hoping that you could be there for the baby shower in about two weeks.” Traci nods. “Sure; absolutely,” she agrees, “I would like that very much.”

Scene 19

Devon and Roxanne return home to their Rent House. “I better get my bags and put them out by the door,” Devon says. “Okay; I can help you with that,” Roxanne replies, sounding distant. Devon can tell that she seems uneasy. He grabs her hand gently. “You trust me, right?” he asks. “Yes, but that isn’t the point,” Roxanne explains, “I trusted you last time too.” She’s referring to the time that Devon cheated on her with Tyra Hamilton. “I know,” Devon nods, “but I promise I won’t make the same mistake twice. I’ve learned my lesson.” Roxanne is slightly comforted.

“Look, I’m only gonna be gone a few days and nothing’s gonna happen,” Devon assures her again, “I’m there to see Ana… not Tyra. And you know how much I love you… right?” Roxanne smiles, but doesn’t respond. “Right?” Devon asks again. “Yes,” Roxanne admits softly. “Okay, then that’s what I want you to remember while I’m away,” Devon tells her as he gives her a hug, “I love you… and only you.”

Scene 20

Michael is just leaving the Newman Tack House. “Okay, thanks for coming by,” Phyllis says as he heads out the door. “Any time,” Michael tells her, “Hey… everything is gonna be okay.” “Bye,” Phyllis says. She closes the door and heads back into the living room.

Suddenly, Phyllis’s cell phone rings to alert of an incoming text message. “Well, I know who that won’t be,” she says aloud, realizing that, since she changed her phone number, whoever had tried to haunt her by putting a dead eel in her bed, could no longer get to her. Phyllis reads the text message and her face is stricken with horror: ‘You didn’t think it would be that easy to get rid of me, did you?’ is what it says…

Next Time on The Young and The Restless

Jack Abbott and his former girlfriend Diane Jenkins discuss their teenage son Kyle Abbott in the dining room of the Abbott Manor. “Maybe what we should do is set Kyle up on a schedule,” Jack suggests.

At Crimson Lights Coffee House, Kyle Abbott approaches Noah Newman and abruptly throws his arm around him. “Hey, Step-bro!” he calls out, leaving Noah looking confused and uncomfortable. He has no idea who Kyle is…

The Baldwin-Fishers minus Gloria have assembled at Michael and Lauren’s apartment at Jeffrey Bardwell’s request. Michael Baldwin, Kevin Fisher, and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin await a big announcement that he’s promised them, not sure what to expect… “So what’s this important announcement you wanted to warn us about?” Kevin inquires. “Tonight, at dinner, I’m gonna propose to your mother,” Jeffrey announces.
