FIRST FOURTEEN EPISODES

I apologize for the delay in posting new episodes. I've written bits and pieces of the next several episodes. Things should be quieting down this week now, so I'm hoping to be able to devote more time to writing again. I'm hoping to resume posting episodes at the beginning of August.

Until then, please catch up on the first four episodes, available here:

NOTES/INSIGHTS/RAMBLINGS ON MONTH 1 OF YR FANFIC

Some lengthy notes on the first month of my Y&R Story:

Since I’ve taken some time off from posting episodes (to write more, I promise!!), I thought it was in order to offer some notes, comments, insights, reflections, ramblings on the first month (in case anyone is interested).

First off, THANK YOU so much to those who have been reading along. I appreviate it very much and I also really appreciate the comments and feedback that have been left for me on various forums (please respond to my survey here and/or email me at yrfanfic@yahoo.com if you have any suggestions or comments for me).

I can’t believe it was back in April that I started planning the story and I have now posted the first month of episodes. It has taken a lot more time and devotion than I expected, and unfortunately, I haven’t had as much time to devote to it lately as I would like. Something unexpected has come up that’s eaten away most of my writing time, which is the reason for the lack of episodes this week (and more than likely, until the beginning of August when I plan to return in full force).

I’ll talk a little bit about each of the storylines that I previewed in the Summer 2010 Spoilers thread, and offer a few more insights into how/why they were developed and what might be happening in the future:

1) JT’s life is changed forever by a successive string of shocking announcements.

This one hasn’t really happened yet, but is one of the storylines I most look forward to developing. JT has been on the show now for more than 10 years and we know very little about him. For one, we’ve never seen his family. That was the motivation behind this story. In my Episode 1, I mentioned JT having a younger sister that he isn’t very close to. Apparently, JT really does have a younger sister, so this was the perfect opportunity to help reintroduce teens into Genoa City. You’ll notice she’s not on the Summer 2010 Cast List that I’ve posted. That’s because JT’s sister, who I’ve named DJ, is not joining the show quite yet, but she’ll be mentioned a few times and the fact that JT isn’t close with her will have ramifications for his current situation.

What does this have to do with a “successive string of shocking announcements?” Not going to say yet, but what I will say is that JT’s family tree will be revealed, and not everything is as it seems.

2) Victor’s constant interference in his children’s lives continues to drive them further away from him.

We’ve seen this mostly with Abby so far, but remember, in my story, Victoria and Billy are still “married” and no one knows this (except Rafe, who was still asked about an annulment even though B/V decided not to go through with it), so Victor and Victoria never had their confrontation. I’m waiting for a much better time (than the real show) to reveal their “marriage.” Victor’s reaction will be pretty much what it was on the real show, but there will be another instance of him controlling Victoria’s life that will hopefully be shocking and unexpected. There will be a few (hopefully consecutive) episodes where the bombs will be dropped one by one towards the end of the summer. At least one of them will not paint Victor in a favorable light and might once again turn his family against him.

3) Tucker’s efforts to make peace with Katherine may have less to do with his own guilt & more to do with his wanting to earn the affections of a certain lady.

So we’ve seen Tucker try to merge his company with Chancellor Industries, and we’ve seen him admit to Katherine that he’d like a relationship with her. We’ve never seen Tucker interact with Ashley in my story, but he still keeps Jabot though, so it has to be coming soon. Since Ashley just begun her job as CEO and she’s never shared all the bonding scenes with him, you’ll get to see the beginnings of their relationship in my story. They are not on as good of terms… Ashley still does not completely trust Tucker and harbors some resentment that he still holds her family’s company. Tucker is definitely interested in Ashley though and wants to prove that she has him all wrong. Their relationship will have a different dynamic than it does on the real show. Who’s using who? That will be the question.

4) Phyllis’s past actions come back to haunt her.

Right now, the only thing that’s happened is Phyllis got two strange phone calls and a dead eel in her bed. I know that seems like hardly anything in a month’s time, but these episodes have really only taken place over the course of a few days, so things have happened very quickly and even though the eel incident was in Episode 3, it’s not like there’s been a three-week time gap where nothing has happened to Phyllis.

What will happen next to Phyllis? Have a look at her list of crimes on Soapcentral. Pretty much anything that’s listed there is fair game. Someone clearly knows all of Phyllis’s secrets and is making her pay. Who is it? And why is this person tormenting her? There are so many people it could be – Brian Hamilton, Tim Reid, Sasha Greene (back from the dead?), Christine, the list goes on and on. Or could it be someone less obvious who has a secret past with Phyllis? All will be revealed… eventually. What I will say is that several people from Phyllis’s past will, at some point, make a guest appearance, so anything’s possible. I know a lot of users on the message boards want Phyllis to be held accountable for her past, so I hope that when it’s resolved (not by the end of summer), that the outcome will be satisfactory and maybe help redeem Phyllis a little.

5) As she struggles to regain her memory, Jana is torn between trying to reclaim her old life or embracing her new self… & a new love.

I don’t want to give away too much here, but I think the direction this storyline is taking has been fairly obvious. I haven’t really tried to hide the fact that Jana will be spending a lot of time with Scott instead of Kevin, and there will definitely be feelings formed there. In all of their early scenes, I foreshadowed the connection that would be between them: They bonded over both needing to ‘rediscover’ Genoa City, Jana suggested that maybe Scott’s perfect woman would be in GC, Jana asked Scott if he had any problems “cheating” (not referring to infidelity, but the connotations were clear). So there is definitely something going on between the two of them, even though neither one has admitted it yet. The question is… when/if does Jana decide that what she had with Kevin (which she still doesn’t even remember) can’t be recaptured? And how/when do Scott and Jana act on their feelings for one another? I’m not saying the answer to either of these questions because there is definitely still some fight left in Kevin/Jana. If I was going to, I would never destroy them as a couple as quickly as the real show did just to have Ryder/Jana hook up for a few weeks. And even if I did have Scott and Jana actually become a couple, it’s not quite clear yet who the “end game” is – will it ultimately be Jana/Scott or will Jana realize that what she had with Kevin is too special to give up? That’s the storyline in the most basic form, but it will get a lot more complicated than that. I think it will be really interesting and there will be a lot of twists and turns. This is one of the storylines I’m most looking forward to writing… I think it will be much more riveting that the Jana/Ryder story on the real show, and the implications of it will be long-lasting and far-reaching for the Baldwin-Fisher extended family.

6) As he tries to move on without Amber, Daniel finds an unlikely ally who has the potential to become more than just a friend.

I think this one is fairly evident too considering the scenes that Daniel has been in, and who he’s shared them with. More on this one when it actually develops a bit more… (but rest assured, it is NOT Abby!!)

7) The Newman-Abbott rivalry begins a new chapter when Kyle Abbott returns to Genoa City, intent on proving his superiority over Noah Newman.

I am very much looking forward to writing the “teen scene” storylines over the summer. I realize how popular the whole Glo by Jabot stuff was in the summer of 2001(?), and I’ve been wanting the real show to offer a teen storyline for a long time now. There are so many outstanding legacy characters who could return as teens, so I am thrilled to be able to reintroduce Kyle Abbott and Ricky Williams, along with a new teen (female) character named Sully, who has a mysterious past and quickly gets involved with the other teens.

In my second-last episode (Episode 13), Kyle and Ricky came to town. I think I effectively established in those episodes that Kyle is clearly the more troubled of the two, and Ricky is the follower who, despite his best intentions, is going to fall victim to Kyle’s bad influence. For Abby, things will be a little more complicated as she’ll be torn between her nephew Noah and her cousin Kyle, who take an instant dislike to one another.

I really like the idea that the Newman-Abbott feud can continue on in another generation and I know this was a popular one on all the message boards that I’ve visited. Hopefully I can do it justice.

8) The unexpected return of a woman from Malcolm & Neil’s past threatens to once again put the half-brothers at odds with one another.

This was one of the earliest reveals and it’s obvious that it’s Alex Perez, the former fiancé of Malcolm who he never contacted after returning from the dead. I really would have liked the real show to address this when Malcolm returned, but instead they had to bring him back just to do the Lily paternity storyline… Anyway, seeing as Alex was a corporate lawyer, I thought this was a good opportunity to bring on an additional minority character and build up Tucker McCall Unlimited. Ironically, the real show is now doing the same thing with Sophia Dupre, so I’ll be interested to see how that story plays out compared to mine.

9) Abby’s growing relationship with Ryder continues to be problematic for her parents, who will go to any lengths to keep them apart.

We’ve already seen this with regards to Victor (although he definitely has more up his sleeve still), but Ashley’s reaction to the relationship has a whole added layer to it that you’ll see start to play out soon. It has to do with who Ryder’s father is and his history with her family. This storyline will continue to develop into the fall and lead to a peak in the winter.

*) There’s another storyline that’s in it’s beginning stages, and that’s Katherine and Jill asking Paul to find Jill’s birth mother. The reason I haven’t discussed that story is because it’s just being established… it’ll be revealed in September (around Jill’s birthday), so it’ll be a fall storyline rather than a summer one. What I can say is that I think the reveal of Jill’s parents will be very interesting, and that Neil Fenmore is NOT Jill’s father nor is Lauren her sister. I planned out this story in April with the others, long before I knew the real show planned to reveal Jill’s birth parents, so I’m glad the two storylines are not running simultaneously. I think the implications of who Jill’s parents are in my story will be greater than in the real show, but since the Lauren vs. Jill story is just beginning, perhaps it’s too early to tell.

Character Episode Counts

So I just finished updating a chart of which episodes all the characters have appeared in, and it was a little surprising in some cases, and in others, exactly what I expected. It turns out Lauren has been in the most episodes (9 out of 14), which I really didn’t realize at all as I was writing them. When I thought about it a little, though, it makes sense: Lauren’s son Scott just came back to town; she’s still dealing with the tail-end of the Sarah/Daisy/Ryder stuff; she has the Boutique to run; she’s friends with Phyllis, who is in a frontburner storyline, etc. So of course she will be in it a lot. The funny thing is she doesn’t really have a storyline herself though; she’s just there in a supporting role to the other characters she’s interacting with. This may soon change though. There will something big involving Lauren towards the end of summer.

Katherine is the next most featured (8/14 episodes), which is no surprise, considering how she regularly interacts with at least someone from all of the other five core families. Speaking of the families, the episode counts for each family were as follows (Baldwin-Fishers: 56 appearances, Newmans: 43 appearances, Abbotts: 30 appearances, Chancellors: 20 appearances, Winters: 20 appearances, Williams: 8 appearances; “Others” in 12 appearances). Remember, this is just over one month, though, so sometimes one month may skew heavily in favor of one family or character, but I will definitely be keeping track of this and having a balance. My story will definitely NOT be The Newman Show (or maybe The Baldwin-Fisher show, in this case)… In fact, now that Kyle and Ricky have returned, I’d estimate that next month will feature the Abbotts and the Williams more than the BFs and the Newmans. Admittedly, since I cut out Cane/Chloe/Chance/Nina, the Chancellors’ airtime has suffered, but the family will still remain an integral part of the show. For the Winters family, Lily will be featured more once I return with more episodes, and I also have several episodes exploring the Devon/Roxanne relationship, which has been really neglected on the real show. So the Winters will be getting some more face time, as well.

Probably the biggest disappointment to many is that Sharon has only been in 2 episodes out of 14!!! I realize this – it was difficult to fit her in when there were so many other storylines I had to establish. But think of it this way: Sharon has been happily raising Faith. There’s no Adam to continually torment her. And rest assured that Sharon will be in a frontburner storyline for the rest of the summer, so expect her episode count to skyrocket soon.

I think I’ve rambled enough now. Again, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has invested time into my story. Please continue to stick with it as new episodes go up later this summer. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

FIRST MONTH READER SURVEY

FIRST MONTH READER SURVEY
[Please reply to this thread or send responses to yrfanfic@yahoo.com] Thanks!! :)

Thank you very much for reading the first month of Y&R Alternate Reality Story. Please spend a few minutes to leave some comments, feedback, and/or predictions for the rest of the Summer 2010 storylines. This feedback will be extremely valuable as I continue to write the remainder of the episodes for the summer.

Favorites:

1) Which current character(s) is/are your favorite? Least favorite?

I know this may be difficult after only 14 episodes, but what I am especially interested in here is whether your perceptions/opinions of any of the characters differ significantly from how you feel about them on the real show.

2) Which current character(s) would you like to see utilized more often? Less often?

3) Which current storyline is your favorite? Least favorite?

Predictions:

1) Do you have any predictions for how any of the storylines will turn out?

I try to provide numerous instances of foreshadowing that have hinted at many future events this summer. I am curious if any have been picked up on.

Wishes:

1) Is there anything that you’d like to see happen in the future (i.e. a certain character return, a certain character leave, a future couple, a future storyline, etc.)?

Episode Length/Frequency:

1) In the future, episodes will only go up twice per week in order to keep things more manageable for both readers and myself. Would you rather see new episodes go up on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) in order to pass the time between episodes of the real show?

2) How do you feel about the length of the first 14 episodes?

I have tried to keep them reasonable, and will be making a concerted effort to make each new episode a maximum of 20 scenes (rather than ~25) and a maximum of 4500-5000 words (rather than 5000+).

Reading Episodes:

1) For my interest only, how do you primarily follow the story (i.e. Soapcentral group, Soapcentral blog, Soaps.com thread, Blogspot, Twitter)?

Other Feedback/Comments:

1) Please feel free to offer any other feedback, comments, suggestions, etc.

If you are reading the story from the blog or somewhere that you are not registered/unable to post, please feel free to e-mail results to yrfanfic@yahoo.com

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment and participate in this survey. I really look forward to reading your responses and I hope you all have enjoyed what you’ve read so far. Your feedback and comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks for being a part of this story! :)

Scene 1

Paul Williams returns to his apartment with his teenage son Ricky Williams, who just arrived from Los Angeles. It’s Ricky’s first time in Genoa City since he was a young boy. “This is it, home sweet home,” Paul announces, “I know it’s not much, but you got your own room. You’ll have plenty of privacy…” “I can smell the fresh paint,” Ricky announces. “Yeah, we just finished painting last night,” Paul admits, “Put all the furniture back in this morning.” “You redecorated the room for me?” Ricky asks. “Well, yeah, I want this place to seem like home to you. I want it to be comfortable,” Paul answers, “Heather… your sister – she’s coming to visit later – she bought all the posters in your room.” “Cool,” Ricky replies, “I can’t wait to meet her.” He eyes a photo of Heather on a shelf in Paul’s living room. “That’s her there?” he asks. Paul glances at the photo. “Yeah, she’s the Assistant District Attorney,” Paul answers, “Oh, that reminds me. I wanted to ask your grandparents for your last school picture. So that I have a photo of you for my wall too.”

“Um, let me know of anything else you want… if there’s any groceries or snacks, or whatever… tell me and I’ll pick it up in the morning,” Paul informs Ricky. “Yeah, I’ll try to think,” Ricky answers. Paul puts a hand on Ricky’s shoulder. “Before I picked you up, I was having lunch with some good friends, and the conversation turned to my father… your other grandfather, that you’ve never met,” Paul explains, “It really got me thinking though, of all the memories that I have with my father… you know, going fishing or going to baseball games – father-son activities. And I realized that you don’t have any of those memories of me, because we haven’t shared those times together. I really want us to change that.”

Scene 2

Meanwhile, at the Abbott Manor, Jack Abbott has just arrived home with his teenage son Kyle Abbott and Kyle’s mother Diane Jenkins. Diane and Kyle throw their bags down in the foyer. “I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve missed being here,” Diane states. Jack turns to Kyle. “I know this is a big adjustment,” he tries to sympathize with his son, “All your friends are back in Vancouver…” “No, my whole life is in Vancouver,” Kyle says harshly. Before things escalate any further, Billy Abbott walks into the foyer. “Hey, Nephew!” Billy exclaims, “You’ve really sprouted up like a weed. Look at you, even sportin’ a little stubble there. I bet the ladies love that.” “Um, Kyle, say hello to your Uncle Billy,” Jack says. “Yo,” Kyle says unenthusiastically. “Yo?” Billy is amused, “Listen to this. My nephew thinks he’s a gangster.” He chuckles.

“Um, so listen -- where’s Ashley?” Jack asks Billy. “Not here yet,” Billy answers. “I wonder what’s keeping her,” Jack says…

Scene 3

At the Carlton Mansion, Ashley Abbott speaks to her daughter, Abby Carlton. Ashley has just told Abby that she is going to Jack’s to see Kyle. Abby is upset about not being able to go. “Can’t you just make an exception for today?” she asks. “I’m sorry, but that’s not how being grounded works,” Ashley replies, “If we give in to you once, you’ll never learn your lesson.” “But I never get to see Kyle!” Abby protests, “He lives in another country. He never visits Uncle Jack.” “He’ll be here for the rest of the summer,” Ashley replies as Abby rolls her eyes, “You can see him when you’re un-grounded, which won’t be for a long time if you keep up this attitude.”

Scene 4

Jack, Diane, Kyle, and Billy are in the living room, which has a ‘Welcome Home Kyle’ banner set up. “Hey, man… Why don’t I show you your room? It’s newly re-decorated,” Billy announces, “And I’m sure it will be to your liking.”

They walk upstairs to Kyle’s bedroom and look around at the once ‘boring’/generic bedroom, which is now covered in posters of cars and bands, and has a large-screen TV with a video game system. “Pretty cool huh?” Billy comments. “It’ll do,” Kyle remarks. Billy prompts Kyle to admit that he likes his bedroom: “Come on! I would have killed to have a room like this when I was your age,” he says, “Actually, the only thing I had was, uh, that pin-up over there. She used to be mine. I’m passing her down to you, nephew, and I sincerely hope you get as much enjoyment out of her as I did.” Kyle looks over at the poster of a topless woman on his wall. Her chest has been censored by post-it notes. Kyle smirks. “I’ll tell you one thing -- those [post-its] are comin’ off, whether the ‘rents like it or not,” he states.

Scene 5

At the Carlton Mansion, Ashley continues her conversation with Abby. “I spoke to your father,” Ashley announces, “He’s on his way.” “Why?” Abby asks. “I can’t trust you here by yourself,” Ashley admits, “You’ve shown that you have no respect for our rules, and you have no respect for us as parents!” “But if I go to Uncle Jack’s with you, then you could watch me,” Abby tries to spin things so that she can visit Kyle, “And you wouldn’t have to bother Dad. Come on, Mom! I’ll be good… I promise!” “I wish your promises meant something, Honey,” Ashley answers.

Scene 6

Heather Stevens has just arrived at her father, Paul’s Apartment. Paul invites her inside and brings her into the living room, where Ricky is sitting on the couch. He looks over his shoulder, sees Heather, and stands up.

“Ricky… I’d like you to meet your sister,” Paul begins, “This is Heather.” Heather unexpectedly gives Ricky a big hug. “I am so excited to finally meet you after all this time!” she exclaims. “Yeah… same here,” Ricky replies, sounding genuine, but less enthusiastic. “I’ve always been an only child. This is like a dream for me… having a little brother,” Heather confesses, “But luckily, you’re past the ‘annoying’ stage.” “Oh, I’m sure I can be pretty annoying still,” Ricky jokes, “And I missed out on so many years to torment you. So… I have a lot to make up for.” “You’re just kidding, right?” Heather asks, to make sure. “Yes! Of course I’m just kidding,” Ricky confirms. “Good, because I missed out on a lot too,” Heather realizes, “Like getting to boss you around when you were younger and make you do stupid things for my enjoyment.” “I think what you’re both trying to say is… we all have a lot of catching up to do,” Paul states. He puts an arm around both of his children. “I know a lot of that is because of me. But I’ll tell you, having both of you here, I’m happier than I’ve been in a long time. I think this is the start of a new era for the Williams family, and I am so proud of both of you… I really am.”

Scene 7

Ashley opens the front door and lets her ex-husband Victor Newman inside. “Thanks for coming,” she says. “You bet,” Victor replies. “I’ll only be gone for a couple hours,” Ashley explains, “but I didn’t wanna risk leaving Abby alone again. You know what happens when we leave our daughter alone when she’s grounded…” “You don’t want her sneaking out somewhere,” Victor understands, “especially to see Ryder Callahan.” “I know you agree with me on this,” Ashley states. “I do, indeed,” Victor confirms, “That’s why I have the perfect solution.” “What is it?” Ashley asks.

“I want Abby to come back to the Ranch with me… permanently,” Victor decides. Ashley is caught off-guard. “Victor, are you sure that’s the best idea?” she asks, “Abby has been uprooted so many times in the past few years. The instability in her life is part of what’s caused her to rebel… I thought we were finally beginning to get settled in here. This is Brad’s house… it’s where Colleen lived. She feels close to them here. Do you want to take her away from that?” “Of course not, Sweetheart, but think about it: You’re all alone here. When you’re at work or need to go out, who’s here to watch Abby?” Victor questions, “On the other hand, I have a full staff at the Ranch… they’d alert me if Abby tried to leave the house or the property.”
Ashley doesn’t have time to debate. “We’ll talk about that later,” she says, “Abby can go to the Ranch for now… while she’s grounded. But as for permanently, that’s a topic for another day…”

Scene 8

Ashley arrives at the Abbott Manor. Jack opens the front door and lets her inside. “Hey, Sis!” he greets her with a hug, “Thanks for coming.” “Sorry I wasn’t here already when you came home with Kyle,” Ashley apologizes, “I had to wait for Victor.” “Everything alright?” Jack asks. “Oh, just the usual these days,” Ashley replies, “More drama with Abby.” “For once, I can finally say ‘join the club,’” Jack tells her.

Billy comes downstairs and sees Ashley. “There you are, Sister!!” he exclaims. “Hi Billy,” Ashley greets him, also giving him a hug. “What’d Kyle have to say about his room?” Jack inquires. “Not much,” Billy answers, “Except for a certain poster of… um, enhanced feminine beauty. I can tell he liked that… I’m sure he liked the whole thing. He’s just not into giving any of us any compliments right now.” “I’m gonna go bring him down here,” Jack informs Ashley, “But, be warned… Don’t expect any warm family moments coming from him.” “Oh, don’t worry,” Ashley responds, “It certainly hasn’t been my day for warm family moments.” Jack heads upstairs.

Diane enters the foyer from the living room. “Ashley, I’m really glad you could come today,” she says politely. “Sure,” Ashley replies. “Maybe later, we can compare notes,” Diane suggests, “You can give us some tips on dealing with a headstrong teenager.” “Believe me, I could use some myself,” Ashley admits.

Scene 9

Kyle is lying on his bed listening to loud music through headphones. Jack walks in, even though his door is closed. Kyle gets up from his bed and rips off the headphones. “See that thing. It’s called a door!” he shouts harshly, “I’ll let you in on a little secret: When it’s shut, it’s shut for a reason… it means ‘Do not Disturb.’” “Look… your aunt Ashley just got here,” Jack informs his son. “So…,” Kyle replies, obviously not caring. Jack takes a deep breath. “Traci’s on her way…,” Jack adds, “They’re here to see you. The least you can do is be polite to them.” “Because they care about me so much, right?” Kyle says sarcastically. “Yes! As hard as that might be for you to believe,” Jack answers, “Just come downstairs and say hi… you don’t have to stay long…” “Fine,” Kyle reluctantly agrees, “but then I wanna be left alone.”

Scene 10

Jack comes downstairs; Kyle follows behind him, reluctantly. Ashley, Diane, and Billy are in the living room. “Hi Kyle,” Ashley says politely, “You look a lot older since I saw you last… back in February.” Kyle ignores her. “Kyle, do you have anything you wanna say back to your aunt?” Diane prompts him.

“Where’s Abby?” Kyle asks, showing no interest in Ashley. “Abby regrets that she can’t make it today, but she’s grounded,” Ashley informs her nephew. “What was her crime?” Kyle follows up. “If she wants to tell you about it when she’s un-grounded, that’s her business,” Ashley replies. “Hmm… you know who else is missing from this ‘family reunion’?” Kyle notices, “The newest Mrs. Abbott. The doctor. The one who actually cared enough to invite me here… where is she?” “Emily’s back in Minnesota,” Jack answers, the pain still visible on his face. “Yet another failed relationship, huh, Jack?” Kyle taunts him, “That’s one thing you seem to be good at… since it’s obvious that fatherhood isn’t.” “Kyle, that’s enough!” Diane shouts, in an attempt to control her son. Jack tries a different approach: “No, look. You wanna take stabs at me, take stabs at me,” Jack says, “I’ve been a lousy father. I get it. I’ll fully own up to that. But somewhere along the line, we’re gonna have to talk about this. You can’t just stay mad and make nasty little comments all the time. We’re both living together under the same roof now… let’s address the issues between us. Move forward.” “There’s no issues between us,” Kyle states, not letting any emotions show, “There’s nothing between us.” The other Abbotts are speechless. “Okay – I said ‘hi;’ Now I’ll be up in my room,” Kyle announces, not waiting for any of them to say anything. He storms off upstairs. Jack almost intervenes to stop him. “Leave him,” Diane advises, “Maybe this was too much for him all at once. Let’s just give him some space; let him cool off.”

Scene 11

Victor and Abby return to the Ranch. Abby is still upset about being grounded and unable to go to Jack’s to see Kyle. Victor sits her down on the couch. “You’re my daughter and I love you very much,” he begins, “I just don’t agree with some of the decisions you’re making.” “You and Mom, you talk about me like I should never be allowed in public again,” Abby states, “like I’m a danger to society.” “A danger to yourself, maybe,” Victor corrects her, “We’ve both told you time and time again that Ryder Callahan is a loser, and a criminal, but you don’t seem to listen.” “Because you’re wrong about him!” Abby defends Ryder. “You see – this is why you’re grounded,” Victor tells her, “Because you refuse to listen to reason. And you insist on spending time with Ryder, even though your mother and I forbid it.” Abby rolls her eyes.

“I think, maybe it’s time you go up to your room,” Victor says. It’s an order, even though he doesn’t phrase it that way. “There’s nothing to do in there!” Abby talks back. “You use the time for thinking and reflecting… on how to change your behaviour,” Victor suggests, “And when you’ve done that, don’t you have any summer reading you can do to get a head-start for next year?” Victor suggests. “This is my summer vacation! I should be out with my friends, enjoying the nice weather, not cooped up in my room,” Abby pleads her case, “My cousin came to visit today. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen him…” Victor is unaffected: “I know that you already tried this with your mother,” he states, “She said no, and I happen to agree with her.” “This isn’t fair!” Abby yells out loud. “Well, life’s not fair!” Victor responds, raising his volume, “Get used to it!”

Scene 12

Paul arrives at the Abbott Manor with Ricky. Heather accompanies them. They knock on the door and Jack invites them in. “Glad you could come,” he says. “I hope you don’t mind, but I brought Heather along.” “Oh, sure, no problem,” Jack replies, “Come on in.” “Thanks,” Heather says.” “Turns out this wasn’t much of a party after all,” Jack says to Paul, “You’re still more than welcome to stay.” “Thanks; we can spare an hour or so,” Paul answers, speaking for Heather and Ricky. “Kyle’s upstairs,” Jack informs Ricky, “You can go on up. His room’s on the left. Word of advice though: Just make sure you knock.” “I guess you’re still having problems with Kyle,” Paul deduces, as Ricky heads upstairs. “Yeah, he’s being a bit anti-social right now with his family,” Jack admits, “But maybe he’ll talk to someone his own age.” “Or he could bite Ricky’s head off,” Paul adds. “No. Don’t worry, he’s harmless,” Jack assures Paul.

Scene 13

Billy and Heather catch each others’ eyes. “I promise… I’m on my best behavior today,” Billy tells her before she has a chance to walk away. “You better be,” Heather warns him, “I don’t want you embarrassing us in front of our families.” “Well, embarrassing you, maybe,” Billy responds, “Lucky for me, I don’t get embarrassed.”

Scene 14

The doorbell rings at the Abbott Manor. Jack answers the door and sees his younger sister, Traci Abbott Connolly, who is visiting from New York. “Traci! It’s so good to see you!” Jack calls out at the sight of his sister, “Thank you so much for coming.” “Of course,” Traci answers, as she hugs Jack, “It’s a big deal to have your child back in your life. It must be such a joyous day for you and Diane.” “You’d think so, wouldn’t you?” Jack replies.

Before Traci has a chance to respond to Jack, Ashley and Billy rush over to greet her and give her a hug. “Why didn’t you call?” Jack asks his sister, “I would have come and got you.” “I know,” Traci responds softly, “I had somewhere I needed to go first.” “Did you see Colleen?” Ashley asks. “Yes,” Traci confirms. “Hard to believe it’s almost been a year,” Billy says, “I still think about CiCi every day.” “We all do,” Jack states.

Paul and Heather, who had been talking in the living room, join the Abbotts in the foyer. “Paul,” Traci greets him with a hug. “Hi Traci,” Paul replies, “It’s nice to see you.” He reintroduces Heather to Traci: “You remember my daughter, Heather?” he asks. “Yes; how do you do?” Traci says. “Good, thanks,” Heather answers. “Um, Paul’s son, Ricky, also happened to return to Genoa City today too,” Jack informs Traci. “He’s upstairs with Kyle,” Paul adds.

Scene 15

Ricky stands outside of a closed bedroom door that he assumes is Kyle’s. He knocks on the door. “Go away!” Kyle yells. “It’s Ricky!” Ricky shouts through the door. Kyle relents: “Fine!” he yells back, “Open it.” Ricky opens the door. Kyle springs up off his bed. “So, Rick… I can call you that, right?” he asks, but doesn’t wait for an answer, “What brings you by, Buddy… Pal?” His tone is somewhat sarcastic. “Your dad invited my dad and me,” Ricky informs Kyle. “Well, since you came all this way,” Kyle says, still in a seemingly sarcastic tone, “I guess I can make an exception for you.”

“Sick room,” Ricky observes. “Yeah, so maybe they actually did something right,” Kyle replies, not wanting to give any credit, “Especially her…” He points to the pin-up that Ricky had somehow not even noticed. “Dude, she is smokin’,” Ricky comments. “Yeah, and strategically placed. To maximize my viewing pleasure… I can stare at her all night.”

Kyle takes a package of cigarettes out of his pocket, grabs one, and lights it up. “You want one?” he offers in between puffs. He opens his bedroom window and blows the smoke outside. Ricky shakes his head ‘no.’ “Suit yourself,” Kyle answers as he takes another puff. “You shouldn’t smoke, you know,” Ricky tells Kyle. “What are you, the Morality Police?” Kyle responds. “And chill out. It’s not like I’m addicted or anything… I don’t need to smoke. It’s just somethin’ to do… ” “Well those things can kill you,” Ricky warns Kyle. “Good thing I don’t mind living dangerously then,” Kyle says…

Scene 16

In the Abbott living room, Jack approaches Paul. “Who’d have ever thought, after everything that happened with Patty, that we’d be here together… talking about fatherhood, of all things?” Jack thinks out loud. “Yeah, it is funny the way things work out sometimes, isn’t it?” Paul agrees. “We’re both suddenly thrust into fatherhood, trying to raise teenage sons,” Jack realizes, “I’d like to think we’re in this together.” “What’re you suggesting?” Paul asks, “A ‘fathers helping fathers’ kind of arrangement?” “Yeah,” Jack confirms, “Let’s talk about our experiences, give each other advice… help each other out.” “You know, the thought just dawned on me… We’re down here talking about our sons together,” Paul states, without addressing Jack’s request, “I wonder what our sons are talking about upstairs…”

Scene 17

At the Abbott Manor, Kyle and Ricky continue their conversation. “You know where I would be right now? If I was back home?” Kyle asks rhetorically, “Kits Beach, out in the sun, layin’ in the sand, checking out all the chicks… pickin’ up the hot ones… and let me tell you, Vancouver has some hot girls.” “Actually, I’m pretty sure LA has the hottest girls,” Ricky interjects, “You should check out the Santa Monica Pier.” “What, are you gonna take me with you when you go back to LA?” Kyle asks. He’s clearly not serious. “Maybe you can visit some time,” Ricky suggests, “I can show you around… Rodeo Drive, the Beverly Mall, Hollywood and Highland… that’s got this sick slasher movie exhibit... Or maybe I can come to Vancouver and you can show me around.” “Um, don’t count on it, Rick,” Kyle shoots him down, “I got a busy life in Vancouver. I wouldn’t have time to babysit you.” “You wouldn’t have to ‘babysit’ me,” Ricky stands his ground, “If I can survive LA without you, I can survive Vancouver.”

“All I know is that can’t come soon enough… going back home,” Kyle states, “I can’t wait to get the Hell outta Genoa City.” “I hate to tell you this, but it looks like you’re stuck here for the time being,” Ricky observes. “Thanks for pointing that out, Captain Obvious,” Kyle responds. “So what’re you gonna do about it?” Ricky asks. “I’m not gonna sit in my room forever and cry about it, that’s for sure. I know how to make the best out of a bad situation,” Kyle explains, “No, I’m already planning my next move. I mean, this place isn’t all bad… That pool… I’m dying to take a dip in it… And this house, it’s pretty cool… I could have some serious fun here. I just gotta get Jack and Diane out of the house.” “You really don’t care about your parents, do you?” Ricky asks. “They can drop dead for all I care,” Kyle states coldly, “The only person I wanna see is my cousin… Abby.” “How old is she?” Ricky wonders. “Our age,” Kyle answers. “Is she hot?” Ricky asks openly. “Dude, she’s my cousin… I’m not gonna answer that,” Kyle replies. “So, yes?” Ricky interprets Kyle’s answer. Kyle deflects the question: “Believe me, I got a lotta turn-ons, but incest is not one of them,” he states, “That’s my Uncle Billy’s department. He almost married his cousin once… well, they thought they were cousins.” “Gross,” Ricky comments. “Yeah,” Kyle agrees, “Sickening…”

Scene 18

In the Abbott living room, Heather approaches Billy, who is standing alone, having a drink. “Are you sure you wanna be seen with me?” Billy asks, “People might get suspicious.” “What other choice do I have?” Heather asks. “Oh, I get it. You feel a little out of place among all these parents,” Billy deduces. “You’re a parent,” Heather states. Billy smirks. “Okay, I was being polite,” he corrects himself, “What I meant to say was, I bet you feel a little out of place among all these old people.” Heather chuckles. “Billy, you can make me laugh, I’ll give you that,” she admits.

There are a few moments of silence as Heather takes a drink. “You and your older siblings are so close,” Heather notices. “We’ve had our rough patches,” Billy shares with her. “Still, seeing you with Jack and Ashley, and Traci… it gives me more motivation. I wanna be a good big sister to Ricky. I mean, I don’t know exactly what being a big sister means, but maybe that’ll be one area of my life that I won’t screw up… God knows how badly I’ve already screwed up my personal life.” “Are you talking about Adam?” Billy asks, “Because you are in no way responsible for what happened with that creep. He fooled so many people. I mean, he uses women to get what he wants. You, Ashley, Sharon. The list goes on and on.” “Adam is not the only mistake I’ve made when it comes to my love life,” Heather confesses. “You mean us?” Billy asks, “We were just one time… and I certainly don’t regret it.” “But what does it say about us when we have to resort to random hook-ups instead of having normal, stable relationships?” Heather ponders. “Maybe for some of us, random hook-ups are normal,” Billy suggests. “Okay, maybe for you, but not for the other 99.9% of the population who want a monogamous relationship,” Heather clarifies, “I mean… I always thought by the time I hit thirty, I’d have a successful career, I’d be married to an awesome man, have a baby, maybe another little one on the way…” “You still have lots of time for that,” Billy assures her. “But just think about it for a minute, Billy… everyone we know is getting married or having kids,” Heather informs him, “Chloe and Chance are engaged, Lily and Cane have the twins on the way, you and Chloe have Delia, JT and Victoria have Reed, Sharon and Nick just had Faith… I mean, name one person that we both know… who’s our age and has never been married and has no kids.” “Rafe?” Billy suggests. Heather smirks slightly. “Okay, that is not fair!” she protests, since their friend Rafe Torres is gay, “Rafe… he’s another story altogether…”

Scene 19

Traci and Paul catch up with one another at the other end of the living room. “How’s your sister doing?” Traci inquires. “You know, you’re a remarkable woman for even asking,” Paul responds, knowing that his sister Patty was partially responsible for the death of Traci’s daughter, Colleen. “Well, Patty was a victim in all this too,” Traci states, “I still believe that.” “You know, she’s sorry about what she did,” Paul informs Traci, “I know she can’t express that to you herself, but in her therapy, she’s had to confront her past actions, and I know she feels remorse that her obsession caused so many innocent people to be hurt… especially Colleen.”

Scene 20

Paul approaches Diane by the fireplace in the living room of the Abbott Manor. “About what you said at the airport,” he begins. “I’m sorry… I didn’t know,” Diane tells him. “I know,” Paul states, “And luckily there was no harm done this time, but that’s why I’m telling you now: Ricky doesn’t know anything about what went on with Isabella. I want it to stay that way.”

Scene 21

Ricky and Kyle continue to talk in Kyle’s bedroom. “So what’s your story?” Kyle wonders, “Parents divorce, Mom keeps you away from your Dad, or what?” “I dunno,” Ricky answers honestly. “What do you mean, you don’t know?” Kyle asks. “I’ve just always lived with my grandparents. I don’t know where my mom is. Never have. All they would tell me is she couldn’t take care of me.” “And you never wondered what that meant?” Kyle probes. “When I was younger, all the time,” Ricky admits, “but eventually I just accepted it, that she was never gonna be a part of my life.” “And your dad? What was his excuse for dumping you across the country?” Kyle questions. “He’s a private investigator,” Ricky answers, “He travels a lot. He couldn’t raise me all by himself.” Kyle is unsympathetic. “Well, boo hoo. He should have thought about that before he decided to have a kid,” he states, “I hope you plan to make his life hell while you’re here.” “No, I don’t,” Ricky answers, shocked to hear Kyle even suggest that. “Well, where’s the fun in that? Kyle responds, “Don’t you wanna get him back?” “I’m here to reconnect with him, not to get revenge,” Ricky explains. Kyle laughs. “You are so naïve, bro,” he begins, “I’m gonna let you in on a little secret, Rick… your dad and your grandparents, they’re obviously lying to you about something. You gotta wake up and stop believing everything you’re told. Stop being such a tool!” “I’m not a tool,” Ricky defends himself. “Actually, you kindof are,” Kyle states, with a smirk on his face, “It’s gonna be so much fun corrupting you…” “What makes you think you can?” Ricky replies, making Kyle see it as even more of a challenge. “Believe me, I have a gift for it,” Kyle answers. “Making people do things they don’t wanna do?” Ricky asks. “No… making people realize the things that, deep down, they wanna do but they’d be too afraid to do otherwise,” Kyle explains, “Trust me. Everyone’s a rebel at heart, Rick. I just choose to embrace it. And soon you will too.”

Paul knocks on the half-open door and peaks into Kyle’s bedroom. “Ricky, we’re gonna take off,” he announces. “He’ll leave when he’s ready,” Kyle speaks rudely before Ricky has a chance to answer Paul. “Excuse me?” Paul reacts to Kyle’s harsh tone. “It’s okay,” Ricky says, trying to avoid a scene, “I’m coming.” “It starts already -- you’re not even here for a day and he’s already acting like he’s in charge of you, trying to run your life,” Kyle instigates. “Well, I am his father,” Paul states, “That’s my job…” “Alright, go on, Rick. Be the obedient son,” Kyle taunts him, “When you’re ready to live on the edge a little, you know where to find me.” Paul and Ricky leave Kyle alone in his room.

“Parents, they can all go to Hell,” Kyle says aloud as he lays back on his bed…

Scene 22

Meanwhile, at the Newman Ranch, Victor has finished his conversation with his daughter Abby. “Okay, off to your room,” Victor orders again. “Do you hate me this much?” Abby asks, still displaying an attitude. “What are you talking about?” Victor responds, “Sweetheart, of course I don’t hate you; I love you. And I hate to see that you’re upset… but I know that the decision your mother and I made is what’s best for you in the long-run.” “No, it’s what’s best for the two of you!” Abby shouts, “You don’t want me to be happy!” “That’s not true. Of course I want you to be happy. I’m your father. Of course, I do.” “No, Brad Carlton is my father!” Abby lashes out as she runs upstairs. Victor is visibly hurt.

Scene 23

The Abbotts – Jack, Ashley, Traci, Billy – are at the front door of the Abbott Manor, saying bye to Paul, Heather, and Ricky. “Come by any time, Ricky,” Jack offers as the Williamses head out the door. He shuts the door and turns back to his sisters and half-brother. “We’re gonna take off too, Jacky,” Ashley announces, “Traci’s gonna stay with me tonight… since I’m all alone.” “You just got here,” Jack says to Traci. “I know, but you and Diane obviously have a lot to deal with here.” The Abbott sisters and brothers exchange hugs with one another. “I’m sorry you didn’t get to see Kyle,” Jack tells Traci, “but I think it’s best to just leave him alone tonight.” “I understand,” Traci says, “Maybe another time… when he’s better adjusted to living here.” “I’ll stop by later,” Billy tells Ashley and Traci, before turning to Jack, “Sorry. Things didn’t work out with Kyle the way you wanted them to.” “I’m still not giving up,” Jack replies confidently. Billy gives him a pat on the back as he heads out the door with Ashley and Traci.

After all the guests have left, Diane comes downstairs and joins Jack in the living room. “Well, so much for a happy homecoming,” Jack comments. “Kyle still won’t come out of his room,” Diane updates Jack. “As much as it pains me to say it, at least that gives us some time to figure things out without having to deal with his attitude,” Jack responds. “I don’t know what’s happened to him, Jack,” Diane confides, “I mean, I can’t anything to him anymore without setting him off… and some of the things he said today… I’ve never heard him speak with such an acid tongue.” Jack notices Diane’s bags are still in the foyer. “Wait, maybe before we discuss this, we should get you settled into the Pool House,” Jack suggests.

“The Pool House?” Diane responds, “I can’t stay there. You remember what happened last time… with Phyllis.” “I just assumed, you know, the Pool House is here on the property, so it made sense for you to stay there,” Jack explains, “If you’d rather go to the Athletic Club, that’s fine, but then you’d be further away from Kyle.” “Jack… I don’t think we’ve discussed our living arrangements yet…” “That’s what we’re doing now,” Jack begins, before realizing Diane’s choice of words, “Wait -- Living arrangements? I thought you were only staying temporarily,” Jack says. “So did I,” Diane admits, “until I saw the way Kyle was acting at the airport. And the way he treated your guests… your own family. Jack, if there is any hope of straightening out our son, we have to be united, and that means both of us being active parents in Kyle’s life… working together to provide as much support as we can.” “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?” Jack asks. “I’m moving in,” Diane decides.

Scene 1

It’s a new day in Genoa City and Jack Abbott is up bright and early to prepare for his troubled son Kyle to return to town. Jack’s younger half-brother, Billy Abbott, talks to him in the living room of the Abbott Manor about a family get-together planned after Kyle’s arrival. “Traci’s flight is delayed,” Billy announces, speaking of their sister Traci Abbott Connolly, “Mechanical problems.” “You’re kidding!” Jack exclaims, “I wanted to pick her up when I got Kyle.” “Yeah, well, I have no idea when she’s gonna get in,” Billy replies, “Probably not till late afternoon... Oh, and by the way, Abby’s grounded. So apparently she’s not gonna be there either.” “Well, this isn’t gonna be much of a welcome back party with just you and Ashley there,” Jack realizes, sounding disappointed. “You know, I’ve been told I can be enough fun to count for more than one person,” Billy jokes, “But seriously, Jack. It doesn’t matter how many people are there, as long as Kyle realizes that we care about him.” “Wow, listen to you,” Jack remarks, impressed, “Spoken like a real responsible adult.” “Speaking of responsibilities, I need to go in to Restless Style,” Billy says, “I’m late enough as it is.”

Scene 2

At the Fishers’ Apartment, Kevin Fisher and his wife Jana Hawkes Fisher are having a peaceful breakfast together. Kevin scoops the last pieces of bacon and eggs off his plate into his mouth. “You still know how to cook a good breakfast, that’s for sure,” he compliments Jana. “Isn’t that bizarre?” Jana realizes, “I remember how to cook the food, but not what it tastes like…” “You remember how to love, but not the people you love,” Kevin adds, against his better judgment. He corrects himself, “I’m sorry. That was not a stab at you, I promise. I know you’ve done everything you can to remember.” “Well, that’s what the doctor said,” Jana recalls, “My procedural and my experiential memory are two different things. Just because one’s affected, the other could be totally fine.” “I know that,” Kevin says, “I know. Just… please forget I even said anything… That’s one thing I give you permission to forget.” “If only it were that easy,” Jana mutters, “But I’ll tell you one thing I didn’t forget…” “Oh, yeah? What’s that?” Kevin inquires. “Yesterday, when Mrs. Chancellor came here,” Jana begins, “you mentioned something about a job offer. I haven’t heard any more talk about that.”

Kevin nods. “Yeah, Mrs. C, she wants me to be Chancellor’s new Chief Information Officer,” he explains, “It’s a huge step-up from my IT job with Tucker. But that means more responsibilities and more hours away from you… I have to give Mrs. C my answer soon.” “You should take it,” Jana states, “It’s an excellent opportunity for you.” “But if I take the job, that means I won’t be at the Coffee House as much,” Kevin tells her, “And you were just about to go back to work… I don’t wanna leave you on your own there until you’ve gotten back into the swing of things.” “No, I definitely can’t do it alone,” Jana states, “There’s so much I don’t remember… the menu and little details like that.” “Well, that’s why I hired Ryder there,” Kevin informs his wife, “I need someone who knows what he’s doing. And Ryder’s worked at the Coffee House before… so, when the time comes, do you think you can work with him?”

Scene 3

Roxanne Porter has just begun her first day of work at Fenmore’s Boutique. Before the store officially opens for the day, she folds a few items of clothing and puts them out on the shelf. Lauren Fenmore Baldwin comes out of the storage room. “I’m just about to open up,” she announces, “Are you ready for your first day to officially begin?” “I am!” Roxanne replies confidently, “I’m excited!” “It’ll be slow at first, but believe me, things’ll pick up later in the afternoon,” Lauren warns Roxanne, “which, fortunately or unfortunately for you – depending on how you look at it -- is when I won’t be here; I promised a friend we’d have lunch.” “Oh, that’s okay. I’m sure I can manage,” Roxanne replies. “I like your confidence,” Lauren compliments her. She heads over to the front door. “Alright, I’m gonna officially open up the store,” she tells Roxanne, “and then for today, it’s all yours.”

Scene 4

Billy arrives at the Restless Style office, and already, the staff is hard at work inside. “I love it. The place can run itself without me,” Billy remarks as he gets off the elevator. A few employees greet Billy as he walks over to his desk. He sees a young man sitting by his desk, presumably waiting for him. It’s Scott Grainger, Jr.

Scott stands up as Billy approaches. “Hi… can I help you with something?” Billy inquires. “Scott Grainger,” he introduces himself. Billy is still not sure why he’s there or who he is. “Billy Abbott, owner of Restless Style” he says, shaking Scott’s hand, “So what brings you by?” “I’m a writer and my mom, Lauren Fenmore, suggested I come see if you have any job openings,” Scott explains. “So you’re Lauren Fenmore’s son?” Billy asks, “Some of us were beginning to wonder if you actually existed.” Scott smirks a little. “Yeah, I grew up over-seas,” he explains, “went to school in Europe and then stayed in Canada for a bit.” “Don’t worry, I can relate,” Billy says, “I got the old heave-ho to boarding school too.”

“This is a pretty cool place you got here,” Scott compliments as he glances around the building. “Thanks,” Billy says, as he takes a seat at his desk, “I like to think so too.” He motions for Scott to have a seat. “So let’s see… I have a fashion editor on a leave of absence,” he announces. “Nah, that’s not really my thing,” Scott turns it down. “I thought not,” Billy replies, “but I’m afraid that’s the only opening I have right now… If you came here a few weeks ago, I would have had something for you… Hey, I’ll tell you what, though… leave me your resume and I’ll give you a call as soon as there’s something available.” “Alright, sounds good,” Scott agrees. He hands Billy his resume and shakes his hand.

Scene 5

At Fenmore’s Boutique, Roxanne is dressing a mannequin. Lauren emerges from the backroom, where she was double-checking inventory. “So how’s it going out here?” Lauren inquires, “Not too bored, I hope.” “Oh, not at all,” Roxanne assures her boss, “I’ve already made one sale. This lady bought the same blouse as the one on the display over there… and in the downtime, I rearranged the clothes in the shelf at the front.” Lauren is impressed.

Suddenly, Lauren’s cell phone rings. “Excuse me,” she says. “Mmhmm,” Roxanne nods. Lauren takes a few steps away. “Hello,” she answers the call. It’s her son. “Hey Mom,” Scott says. “Hey, Honey!” Lauren replies, “How are you?” “So I took your advice and I went to Billy Abbott for a job at Restless Style,” Scott informs her. “And?” Lauren asks eagerly. “No luck,” Scott reveals, “Billy said he has no openings.” “Well, I’m really sorry, it worked out that way,” Lauren responds, disappointed. “Ah, no sweat,” Scott replies, “I’m sure another opportunity’ll come along.” “You can count on that,” Lauren says confidently. She hangs up, and then gets an idea.

“Roxanne… I have to go a little sooner than I expected,” Lauren announces, “Will you be okay here on your own?” “I think so,” Roxanne replies, “Yes… yes, I’ll be fine.” “Okay,” Lauren says, “I’ll check in with you later.” “Bye,” Roxanne says as Lauren grabs her purse and heads out the door.

Scene 6

Kevin and Jana continue their conversation in the kitchen of their apartment. “Can I work with Ryder?” Jana repeats the question, “I suppose I can. I mean, he’s just like any other person to me. I know what he did, but it still doesn’t seem real to me.” “I don’t wanna put you in a situation that you’re uncomfortable with,” Kevin assures his wife. “No, I just said… I’m fine with it,” Jana maintains. “Okay, just wanted to make sure,” Kevin responds. There’s a few moments of awkward silence.

“So what’re your plans for the day?” Kevin inquires. “I thought I might go down to the Boutique,” Jana answers, “Pick out a new summer wardrobe.” Kevin seems like he’s in a far-away land. “I just realized… how our days are so separate… how so much of our time these days is spent apart from each other,” Kevin explains, “Promise me we can work on that.” “If that’s what you want,” Jana replies softly, without much commitment in her voice. “Well, isn’t that what you want?” Kevin asks.

Scene 7

Billy is at his desk at the Restless Style office when Lauren gets off the elevator. “Well, this is a surprise,” Billy says sarcastically, “Actually, not really…” Lauren joins Billy at his desk. “Do you remember why I pulled my ads from Restless Style?” she inquires. “Something about not advertising in trash,” Billy responds, “…after one of my many Newman-centred pieces.” “Well, your past few issues haven’t been quite as bad. There’s been nothing slanderous in them. You’re actually showing signs of some real journalism.” “I take it that was supposed to be a compliment,” Billy replies. “More like a word of encouragement,” Lauren clarifies, “to keep doing what you’re doing.” “I’m gonna do what sells magazines, plain and simple,” Billy maintains, “Now, there hasn’t been a big scandal around town since Adam was murdered, but that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna continue writing about the prominent people in this town as soon as they give me a reason to.” “That’s too bad, because I encouraged my son to apply for a job here, thinking that he could actually build himself a positive reputation working for a real magazine, not a sleazy rag.” “I’ve never once published an untrue story,” Billy defends himself, “and by the way, I told your son I had nothing available.” “I know,” Lauren states, “That’s why I’m here.”

Scene 8

Lauren continues her meeting with Billy at the Restless Style building. “I don’t normally do this… I like to keep my business and personal life separate,” Lauren begins, “but I would be willing to re-advertise in Restless Style if my son worked here.” “After the Adam article, I’m not exactly hurting for advertisers right now,” Billy replies. “Still, having one of the largest department stores in the country advertising in your magazine can’t hurt,” Lauren tries to convince him, “If you won’t do it for the advertising, how about for me, as an old family friend of the Abbotts?” “Why do you even want your kid working for me anyway?” Billy asks, “You just chewed me out again for running a quote-unquote ‘sleazy rag…’ “You’re a parent… can’t you understand what it’s like for me to miss my son so much that now that he’s back, I’d want to do anything and everything to keep him in town?” Lauren asks, “See, as much as I dislike some of your tactics, I want my son to stay in Genoa City even more. And to make him stay, he needs to find a job doing something he loves. Restless Style is the biggest, most recognizable publication in town.”

“Lauren, I can understand that a lot, actually, about wanting your kid around. Delia is with Chloe right now, in Australia, and when she comes back, I never want her to be away from me again. So believe it or not, I’d love to help you out,” Billy insists, “but my hands are tied.” Lauren isn’t taking no for an answer: “Have you even looked at Scott’s resume?” she continues, “He was the editor of the newspaper at U of T, won numerous writing awards in high school and college. This is his thing. Writing is his passion. He has more experience than a lot of people you have writing for you now.” Billy bites his tongue. “Okay, okay. Look, I can move one of the other girls to fashion and give him pop culture or something,” he relents, “And he can take on some editorial responsibilities.” Lauren is relieved. “So my son definitely has a job here?” she asks to confirm. “Yes, ma’am, I believe he does,” Billy agrees. “Good,” Lauren states, “He won’t hear about this from anyone, now will he?” “My lips are zipped,” Billy says, running his finger across his lip. “Thank you, Billy,” Lauren says appreciatively, “You won’t regret this.” “I didn’t think I would,” Billy replies.

Scene 9

After Lauren has left the Restless Style building, Billy calls Scott to tell him he changed his mind. “Scott, hey, this is Billy Abbott,” Billy greets him. “Hey; I wasn’t expecting to hear from you so soon,” Scott replies. “Yeah, listen, man. I was doing some thinking and I looked over your resume and I think I was a little too quick to dismiss you,” Billy informs him, “If you’re still interested in a job here…” “Yes, definitely,” Scott assures him. “Okay, then, I think maybe we can work somethin’ out,” Billy reveals, “I just wanna ask you a couple question… Formalities, you know?” “Cool. When do you want me to come back over there?” Scott asks. “Well, actually, we’re not really all that formal over here at Restless Style, so why don’t we just do it over the phone?” “That works,” Scott agrees.

“So tell me… which do you prefer: blondes or brunettes?” Billy inquires. Scott has a confused look on his face. “What kind of interview is this?” he asks, chuckling slightly due to his surprise at the question. “I like to get to know my prospective employees on a more personal level,” Billy answers. “So knowing my choice in women will help you figure out my character or my work ethic?” Scott asks. “Believe it or not, it helps a lot,” Billy clarifies, “So which is it? Do you need me to repeat the question?” “No… um, brunettes definitely,” Scott plays along, still skeptical of Billy’s line of questioning. “Yeah, I know a couple brunettes who can disprove the old adage that ‘blondes have more fun,’” Billy adds. “I can think of a few myself,” Scott agrees.

“Next question: hockey or basketball?” Billy asks. Scott takes a moment to think. “That’s a tough one,” he begins, “but I’m gonna have to go with hockey.” “Oooh, you’re killin’ me here,” Billy says, obviously preferring basketball, “And you started off so well too…” “Well I’ve lived in Canada for a few years, so…,” Scott tries to defend himself. “Well, that explains it. Alright, that wasn’t a fair question then,” Billy decides. Let’s scratch that one… Here’s a bit harder one: Batman, Spiderman, or Superman?” “Superman…,” Scott answers without thinking about it, “‘Cause he’s a reporter for a newspaper, which means he has two of the coolest jobs in the world: writer and superhero.”

“I’m actually more a Spiderman guy myself, but good answer,” Billy compliments Scott, impressed with his explanation, “Can’t fault you for that one… Alright, last question. Here we go… Let’s make it a more open-ended this time. But we’ll stick with Superman. Okay, if you could have any of one Superman’s abilities, which one would it be?” There is a moment of silence as Scott takes time to think through his options. “Just say x-ray vision,” Billy gives him the “right” answer, “You know you want to…” “Alright, x-ray vision,” Scott answers, not sounding totally sure of himself. “Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!” Billy exclaims, “That is crazy! So you wanna be able to see into the womens’ locked room too, huh? I knew it! I gotta hire you now.” “Are you serious?” Scott asks, just to make sure. “Yes. Now, I’m actually being serious,” Billy assures him, “Welcome aboard.” “Thanks, man,” Scott says, still a little confused, “You know, you really are somethin’ else.” “I never get tired of hearing that,” Billy responds, “We all march to the beat of a different drum here at Restless Style.”

Scene 10

Paul Williams meets Michael Baldwin and Michael’s wife Lauren for lunch at the Athletic Club. They exchange hellos and sit down to eat. “So, how are you holding up?” Paul asks Lauren. “I’m feeling better and stronger every day,” Lauren proudly reveals, “It’s Jana who’s not doing so well.” “Physically, she’s fine,” Michael clarifies, “It’s just the…” “Amnesia,” Paul knows all too well, “You know… losing my father to amnesia is still the greatest tragedy of my life… I’ll never forget that day, going to Norfolk, begging and begging my father to come home and try to reconnect with his family. Telling him all the things we used to do together… having him reject me over and over. And then having to go home and tell my mother that her husband, the man she had loved faithfully for a quarter of her life and raised four kids with, had chosen another woman and another life over his own family. It just devastated her.” “You never realize that people’s memories can actually be entirely wiped out,” Lauren says, “until it happens to someone you love.” “Yeah, that’s for sure,” Paul agrees. “Except, in our case, Jana has us there with her to help her rebuild her old life,” Michael clarifies, “Your father, he was missing for years, not knowing who his family was or where they were. With Jana, that’s different.” “Yeah, but even so, my father… when he found out who we were, he still gave it some time,” Paul explains, “He tried to remember, but after a while, he just gave up on ever being the Carl Williams that we knew and loved,” Paul explains, “I hope, for Kevin’s sake, that doesn’t happen with Jana.”

Scene 11

Roxanne is at the cash register of Fenmore’s Boutique. There’s only one customer in the store. It’s Jana. She’s at a clothes rack, browsing through a selection of tops. Roxanne approaches her from behind. “Um, anything in particular you’re looking for?” she asks cheerily, to get Jana’s attention. Jana turns around and Roxanne recognizes her from the Coffee House. “Oh, Jana, hi,” Roxanne says politely, “Nice to see you.” Jana has no idea who she’s talking to. “Do we know each other?” she asks. “You’ve waited on me at the Coffee House hundreds of times,” Roxanne informs Jana. “Oh, well, that explains it, I guess,” she musters, “I’m sorry… I don’t remember much about my life right now… Um, really, I don’t remember anything…” “I read about that,” Roxanne admits, “What happened to you… you must be so terrified.” “I’m learning to cope with it,” Jana says calmly, “By the way, what’s your name?” “Roxanne,” she answers. “Roxanne, okay, I will definitely not forget that this time,” Jana says. Roxanne smiles.

Scene 12

Paul, Michael, and Lauren continue their conversation as they eat lunch at the Athletic Club. “I thought this was supposed to be a light-hearted lunch,” Lauren says, “Why don’t we talk about something else?” “Well, I’ve got some exciting news that I’ve been dying to share,” Paul announces. “Lay it on us,” Michael says. “My son, Ricky, is coming to stay with me for the rest of the summer,” Paul tells them. “Wow! You must be so thrilled,” Lauren exclaims, “I know what that’s like… having your long-lost son back in town.” “Scotty’s back in town?” Paul asks, “I didn’t know that.” “Yes, Scott came back, oh, just over a week ago now,” Lauren estimates, “But I wanna hear more about your son.” She turns to Michael, “He’s my godson, you know?” Michael doesn’t reply. “There’s not much else to tell right now,” Paul answers Lauren’s question, “Ask me again in a couple days, and I’m sure I’ll have a lot more to tell you.”

“Michael, you’re awfully quiet,” Lauren notices, “Is everything okay?” Michael looks at Paul. “So the kid whose childhood I helped ruin is coming back?” he realizes. “Michael, that’s all in the past,” Paul assures him, “and besides, your involvement in the whole thing was minimal. You didn’t make Isabella do any of the horrible things she did.” “But I brought her here to Genoa City,” Michael reminds Paul, “and without that critical error in judgment, the hell that she unleashed on your life and on Christine’s life would never have happened.” “Honey, you can’t blame yourself for any of that,” Lauren comforts him. “And besides, Michael, if you had never brought Isabella here, I would never have had Ricky. And no matter how bad things were between Isabella and me, I don’t regret having my son,” Paul states, “I regret the circumstances in which he was brought into the world and that he’s been raised without either of his parents. That, I regret, but he seems to have had a good life with his grandparents. They’ve done a good job teaching him values, but they’re getting a little older now and it’s time that I step up and be there for him for this last chapter of his childhood.” “Do you have any pictures?” Lauren asks, “All I’m seeing in my mind is a little two year-old, not a teenager.” “No, no, I don’t,” Paul admits, “But I’m gonna take lots of pictures as soon as Ricky gets here.”

“Well, who does he look like? You or Isabella?” Lauren wonders. “He’s got Isabella’s dark hair and features,” Paul answers, “Actually, to tell you the truth, I don’t see a whole lot of myself when I look at him. But I’m hoping that as we spend some more time together, we’ll discover something that we have in common.” “Of course you will,” Lauren says optimistically, “He’s your son. How different can you be?” “Well, we’re gonna find out, aren’t we?” Paul replies. “Um, if you want, we can have Eden show Ricky around,” Michael offers, “Introduce him to all the local hangouts.” “Yeah, that’d be great. Thanks,” Paul accepts, “Listen. I hate to run out on you like this, but the flight gets in pretty soon, so I’m gonna head over to the airport.” “No problem,” Lauren tells him, “See you later, ‘Pops.’” “Good luck,” Michael offers, “We know better than anyone, suddenly having a teenager living with you can be a big adjustment. But trust me, it’ll be worth it.” “Thanks,” Paul says as he leaves Michael and Lauren at the table.

“I hate to leave you too, Honey,” Lauren begins, “but I should get back to the Boutique and see how the new girl… Roxanne, is doing.” “Alright, give me a kiss before you go,” Michael says, “I’ll see you at home.” “Love you,” Lauren says as she gives him a quick kiss on the lips. “Love you more,” Michael replies before Michael heads out of the Athletic Club.

Scene 13

Jack arrives at the airport and sees Paul there, presumably waiting for a flight to arrive. “Paul! What’re you doing here?” Jack inquires. “Hi, Jack,” Paul greets him, “I’m actually… picking up my son, Ricky. He’s flying in from LA.” “You don’t say…,” Jack replies, realizing the coincidence, “I’m here to pick up my son, Kyle. He’s flying in from Vancouver… with his mother.”

Scene 14

At Fenmore’s Boutique, Roxanne is helping Jana pick out tops. By this time, there are a few other customers in the store. Suddenly, Scott walks in to the Boutique, planning to surprise Lauren with the news that he got a job at Restless Style after all. Roxanne is the first to notice Scott. Jana is busy looking at a top.

“Check out the young Johnny Depp over there,” she points out. “Who’s Johnny Depp?” Jana inquires, not looking over at Scott. “Only one of the hottest Hollywood actors around,” Roxanne replies. “Oh, I’m sure I would have known that,” Jana says. “If not for your amnesia,” Roxanne catches on. Jana finally looks over to see who Roxanne is referring to, and realizes it’s Scott. “Yeah,” Jana says, “and that is not Johnny Depp. That’s Scott Grainger.” “Scotty the Hottie,” Roxanne calls him. “Tell me about it,” Jana agrees, “although I’m not supposed to notice things like that.” She points to the wedding ring on her finger. “Well, technically, neither am I,” Roxanne replies, “But who says we can’t look?” “Exactly!” Jana responds. “So you know him?” Roxanne asks. “Just recently,” Jana answers. “Well, I better go help him out,” Roxanne tells Jana, “Excuse me.” “Sure,” Jana replies.

Scott looks over at Jana and nods his head to acknowledge her. She smiles back. “Hi,” Roxanne says to Scott as she approaches the register, “Let me guess… you’re looking for a present for your girlfriend.” “No such luck… I’m single,” Scott tells her, “Actually, I’m looking for my mom. Is she around?” Roxanne is thrown for a loop. “Your mom?” she asks, “Does she… work here?” “Yeah, she owns the place,” Scott answers, “Lauren Fenmore… is she here?” “You’re Lauren’s son? Oh, I’m sorry; I didn’t realize,” Roxanne replies, “It’s only my first day…. Um, do you want me to give her a message?” “Oh, no. It’s okay,” Scott says, “I’ll just… I’ll call her later. Thanks.” “No problem,” Roxanne responds.

Scene 15

Paul waits at the airport terminal as a number of passengers get off the plane from Los Angeles. Finally, he spots a teenage boy, 17, who he instantly recognizes as his son, Ricky Williams. “Hey, Dad,” Ricky exclaims, “It’s been a while.” “Yeah, it sure has, hasn’t it?” Paul replies. He gives his son a hug.

Across the airport, Jack waits at a terminal for Kyle Abbott and Kyle’s mother, Diane Jenkins, to arrive. After several passengers rush by, Jack spots Diane first, and then a tall teenage boy, also 17, but older looking than Ricky, trailing behind her. “Kyle, look at you. You look so grown up!” Jack exclaims at the sight of his son. Jack moves in for a hug but gets denied. “He’s not really in a mood for talking,” Diane states the obvious. Jack steps away, accepting that he’s not getting a hug. “Okay… I’ll do the talking then,” he says, “It’s good to see you, son. Welcome home.” “This isn’t my home,” Kyle speaks for the first time, with attitude in his voice. Jack tries to be accommodating. “Okay, you know what? You’re right, but I hope that, in time, it can become like a second home to you,” he rephrases his words, “I’m glad you’re here for a visit.” “As if I had a choice,” Kyle snaps back. “Kyle, please don’t talk that way to your father,” Diane intervenes. “Oh, he’s my father now?” Kyle asks, “That’s news to me… he sure doesn’t act like it.” “Look… it’s no secret that I haven’t been there for you like I should have been,” Jack agrees, “but I’d like to start making that up to you, if you’d let me. I don’t expect things to change over night. All I’m asking is that you keep an open mind, and give me a chance.” Kyle is unaffected by Jack’s plea. “You’re laying it on a little thick, Jack,” Kyle insults his father. “Kyle!” Diane scolds him again.

“It’s okay. You’re angry with me… I get that,” Jack understands. Kyle ignores him. There’s silence. “Um, would you… excuse me for a minute?” Jack finally says. “Yeah, sure,” Diane replies softly. She gives Kyle a glare and he looks away immediately. Jack takes a few steps to the side and calls Billy. “Jack… hey. Did you pick up Kyle yet?” Billy asks. Jack doesn’t answer the question. ‘Where are you right now?” he inquires, “I left the office early,” Billy answers, “I’m getting everything set up. Ashley’s gonna be here shortly.” “Yeah, I don’t know if this get-together is such a good idea,” Jack informs his brother, “Kyle’s got a huge chip on his shoulder. Worse than I ever imagined.” “So in other words, he’s not gonna be overjoyed to see the rest of his family?” Billy realizes. “He could care less about any of us right now,” Jack states. “Ouch. That’s gotta be pretty crappy for you, Jack,” Billy sympathizes, “I’m sorry, man.” “Well, it is what it is right now,” Jack accepts, “but that doesn’t mean I’m giving up.” “Then let me and Ashley stay,” Billy suggests, “Let Kyle see that his family cares about him.” Jack sighs. “I’m telling you, this has potential for disaster,” Jack reiterates, “but maybe you’re right. Maybe once we get him home, and he sees his family, maybe Kyle will soften up a little.”

Scene 16

At Fenmore’s Boutique, Scott and Jana approach each other to talk. “Hey,” Scott says. “Hey yourself,” Jana replies, “Fancy seeing you in a place like this.” “If not for my mom working here, then definitely not,” Scott assures her, “And speaking of work… you are officially gonna be the first person I tell this to… I just got hired at Restless Style.” “Billy Abbott’s magazine?” Jana asks, “That’s great! Congratulations, Scott!” She gives him a hug, and has a realization. “So that means you’ll be staying in town indefinitely, doesn’t it?” she asks. “I see no reason for me to leave,” Scott answers.

“Um, so how are things going with you and Kevin?” Scott asks suddenly. “Still a bit awkward,” Jana admits, “and he’s still frustrated. I know he is, even though he tries not to show it. But every now and again, like this morning at the breakfast table, he’ll make an off-hand remark.” “Maybe it’s how he’s coping with the situation,” Scott suggests, “Not that I’m defending him. He shouldn’t do anything to add to your stress levels.” “But that’s the thing. He doesn’t realize what he’s doing. Like yesterday, he invited all his -- our -- family and friends over to tell me about my life in Genoa City,” Jana vents, “I know Kevin meant well, so I didn’t wanna say anything, but it was like, you know, I was cramming for an exam, trying to learn all these pointless details and facts.” “About your life,” Scott tells her, “And I thought that’s what you wanted… to learn everything that you’ve been through, no matter how good or bad.” “I thought I did,” Jana admits, “but I realized something yesterday… something I haven’t told anyone else yet: What I heard yesterday, it didn’t feel like my life,” Jana replies, “It feels like I’m being forced to memorize the last four years of someone else’s.” Jana realizes she’s beginning to ramble. “I’m sorry,” she says, “for burdening you with all of this. And I don’t mean to put you in an awkward position with Kevin. I know you two are good friends.” “Don’t worry about it,” Scott tells her, “I know that you didn’t ask for any of this either.” “Can we keep this between us?” Jana requests, “The things I told you.” “Yes,” Scott agrees, “Yes, definitely… I promise.” “Thank you,” Jana breathes a sigh of relief. “Call me… if you need to talk,” Scott offers. “I will,” Jana promises. Scott exits the Boutique. Jana smiles, feeling comforted by Scott’s presence.

Scene 17

As Jack, Diane, and Kyle are walking through the airport, Diane spots Paul. “Paul Williams,” she greets him, “What a surprise running into you here.” “Hi Diane,” Paul says. Diane eyes the teenage boy standing next to Paul. “Is this Ricardo?” Diane asks. “Ricky,” he corrects her. “Oh, Ricky, sorry… I was a friend of your mother’s,” Diane informs him. Paul shoots her a glare letting her know it’s a closed subject. “Unfortunately, we lost touch many years ago,” Diane quickly covers her tracks, “but I’m sure she’d be very proud. You’ve grown into a handsome young man.” “Mom! Shut up! You’re embarrassing him!” Kyle interjects. Diane seems to ignore Kyle’s outburst. “This is my son, Kyle,” she introduces him to Ricky. “Hey, Rick! What’s up?” Kyle says out of obligation. “This is Ricky’s first time back to Genoa City in a long time,” Paul announces. “Kyle’s too,” Diane adds, “Kyle, maybe you and Ricky can get together later?” Diane suggests. “Yeah, it would be nice if you could make some new friends while you’re here,” Jack states. Kyle gets annoyed. “I don’t need you two to set me up on a playdate like I’m in kindergarten,” he snaps, “I know how to make friends on my own. Let’s see if you qualify, Rick.” “Actually, I hate to cut this short, but we better get going,” Paul says to Ricky. “We can meet up later though, right?” Ricky asks Kyle. “Facebook me,” Kyle states, not giving a clear answer.

Kyle walks ahead of them. “Interesting kid you got there, Jack,” Paul whispers to Jack. “I’m sorry you had to witness that attitude from him,” Jack replies, “Look, I really would like Kyle to find some new friends while he’s here. Maybe he’d be less hostile that way… We’re having a little get-together at my place for Kyle… just a few family members,” Jack informs Paul, “Why don’t you come by with Ricky?” “Yeah, I guess we can stop by for a bit,” Paul agrees. “Thanks,” Jack replies, “Who knows? Maybe our sons’ll turn out to be great friends.”

Scene 18

After Scott leaves the Boutique, Roxanne approaches Jana again. “You didn’t tell me he was my boss’s son,” Roxanne states, “I felt like an idiot for not knowing that.” “I’m sorry!” Jana apologizes sincerely, “I was getting to that…” “No, it’s not your fault,” Roxanne tells her. She notices Jana holding a few clothing items. “Um, do you want me to ring these through for you?” she asks. “Sure,” Jana replies. They walk over to the cash register.

“So, are you going back to work at the Coffee House soon?” Roxanne inquires as she scans a blouse. “You know, I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently,” Jana answers, “and I think I will be. Kevin just got a new job, so he’ll need someone there full-time to help his brother run the place.” “Well, you had such an energy about you when you were there… the way you interacted with the customers,” Roxanne compliments Jana, “Trust me, the place hasn’t felt the same since you’ve been gone.” Roxanne hands Jana the bag of merchandise. “Thank you, Roxanne,” Jana says sincerely, “You’ve been a big help to me.”

Scene 19

Outside of Fenmore’s, Scott runs into Lauren on the ground floor of the Jabot building. “Mom!” he calls, “I was just looking for you at the Boutique.” “I had an early lunch with Paul and Michael,” Lauren answers. “Well, Billy called me back,” Scott announces, “I got a job at Restless Style.” “Honey, that’s great!” Lauren exclaims, hugging him, “I knew you would.” Scott is suspicious. “It’s just funny, though, how he did a 180 so fast,” he states, “In fact, right after I told you that there were no openings… Mom.” He says her name in a tone that suggests he’s accusing her of something. “What are you saying? That I went to Billy and somehow forced him to give you a job?” Lauren asks. “Billy made it pretty obvious that the interview was bogus. So yes. Did you?” Scott asks, “Are you the reason that Billy hired me at Restless Style?”

Scene 20

Michael is sitting alone at a table in the Athletic Club dining room when he sees his half-brother Kevin arrive at the bar. Michael approaches him. “Hey, Mikey! Pull up a seat!” Kevin greets Michael. “What’re you doing drinking this early?” Michael asks, “It’s not even noon yet.” “I just need to do some thinking,” Kevin admits, “about life.” “Well, you best do that when you’re level-headed and sober,” Michael suggests, “not when your judgment is clouded by alcohol.” “I decided to take that job Mrs. C offered me,” Kevin informs his brother, “to be the CIO at Chancellor.” “Really!? CIO?” Michael exclaims in excitement, “That’s great, little brother. Congratulations… I’m really happy for you.” He notices Kevin’s mood. “But you… don’t seem very happy about it,” he says. “It’s nothing against the job,” Kevin states, “It’s a great job. It really is.” “But, it means… being away from Jana,” Michael realizes. “Yeah, well, Jana is the one who told me to take it,” Kevin reveals. “That’s good,” Michael states, “She’s being supportive of you developing a professional career for yourself.” “Or she’s so eager to slowly cut me out of her life,” Kevin rationalizes the situation differently. “What?” Michael reacts, “What are you talking about? Jana would never do that.” Kevin turns to face his brother instead of his drink. “Think about it, Mikey. By taking this job, I’ll hardly be around the Coffee House, and Jana and me, we’ll be losing something else that bonds us together,” he explains, “I mean, we’re already sleeping in separate beds. We barely see each other here, we won’t really be working together anymore. I don’t even wanna think about what’s next…” “Then don’t,” Michael tells Kevin, “You’re being paranoid.” “I’m being perceptive… I mean, this is a serious question, Mikey: What if Jana is starting to like her new life better?” Kevin asks rhetorically, “The one where she doesn’t think of me as her husband…”

Next Time on The Young and The Restless

Ashley Abbott and Victor Newman are meeting at the Carlton Mansion to discuss their daughter Abby Carlton’s grounding. “I want Abby to come back to the Ranch with me… permanently,” Victor announces.

Kyle Abbott and Ricky Williams are talking in Kyle’s bedroom at the Abbott Manor. “You are so naïve, bro,” Kyle begins, “I’m gonna let you in on a little secret, Rick… your dad and your grandparents, they’re obviously lying to you about something…”

In the living room of the Abbott Manor, Diane Jenkins prepares to have a serious discussion with Jack Abbott, the father of her son. “I don’t think we’ve discussed our living arrangements yet,” Diane begins…
