Scene 1

It’s evening time in Genoa City. At the Fishers’ Apartment, Kevin Fisher and his amnesiac wife Jana Hawkes Fisher are discussing Jana’s past. Jana reacts after the revelation that she is a murderer. “I still can’t believe it… that I took someone’s life,” Jana confesses, her face full of horror. “Jana, listen to me. You had a brain tumor at the time,” Kevin tries to reassure her, “It made you act in certain ways, do things that you wouldn’t have normally done.” Jana isn’t listening. “Who was it? How did it happen?” she demands, “I need to know what I did, and why…” Kevin takes a deep breath. “Her name was Carmen Mesta,” he begins, “She worked at Jabot and then Newman. She was some PR consultant, or something.” “Why did I… um, you know… kill her?” Jana asks. “She was… a regular at the Coffee House,” Kevin states, “Your father, he was looking for a piece of art work. You stole Victoria Newman’s art portfolio, thinking it might hold some clues for you… you know, about how to find the artefact. It was called the Grugeon Reliquary. Does that name ring a bell?” “No,” Jana says softly. She changes the subject.

“You mentioned something… about a brain tumor…,” Jana says as a statement, although she means it as a question. “The tumor is what caused you to act that way,” Kevin assures her, “It’s the only reason you killed Carmen. You had no self-control because of it.” “How -- how did they know it was the tumor?” Jana stutters, “What if I really was a… I can’t even say it… a killer?” “You see! I told you you didn’t wanna know about that part of your life,” Kevin says, “This is what I was trying to protect you from. Damn it! Why did I tell you?” “Because I asked you to,” Jana tell, “I just didn’t expect… I couldn’t prepare myself for what you would tell me.” “Believe me, you have beaten yourself up over it enough. It’s all you could think about when you were in jail, how you killed an innocent person,” Kevin recalls, “You did everything you could to make up for it. You even, you wrote a letter to Carmen’s family apologizing for what you did.” “What I did. That’s right - I still did it. And an apology, that didn’t bring their daughter back,” Jana states, “Why am I even out of prison? My God, I should have been locked up for life.”

Scene 2

At Devon Hamilton’s Rent House, Devon and his girlfriend Roxanne Porter are lying in bed in Devon’s room. Devon plays with her hair. “You don’t have any regrets about staying in Genoa City, do you?” he asks. “None,” Roxanne answers confidently, “I’m right where I need to be. This is where I feel at home… I mean, the job at the Boutique, I know it wasn’t the most ideal choice. But it’ll help keep me occupied for now, and more importantly, earning some money. Then I’ll find something else close by.” “I could ask my dad if there’s anything open at Chancellor Industries,” Devon suggests, “You could be a personal assistant or… or something. “Thanks, but I do wanna feel like I earned whatever job I get,” Roxanne admits, “For now, I’m happy with Fenmore’s… because it means I get to spend every night here with you… I mean, next week’s our anniversary. Can you imagine if we had to spend the day apart?” “Well, thankfully, we don’t have to think about that, do we?” Devon replies, giving her a quick kiss. Suddenly, his cell phone rings. Devon reaches over to the night stand and picks it up. “I’ll take this out in the hall,” he tells Roxanne, as he hops out of bed, “Be right back.”

Scene 3

In the CEO’s Office at the Jabot Cosmetics Headquarters, Ashley Abbott and her former step-mother Gloria Bardwell continue their conversation. Gloria is confused by Ashley’s sudden interest in her former husband Tom Fisher and his son Ryder Callahan. “Why are you so curious about Tom and Ryder anyway?” she asks Ashley. “Let’s just say, I have a vested interest,” Ashley replies coyly, not answering the question. “Abby,” Gloria realizes, “I saw them together at the Newmans’ pool party. I think everyone did.” “And did you think it was appropriate for a 17 year-old girl to be pursuing someone who’s already out of college?” Ashley asks harshly, in a tone that suggests she would have wanted Gloria to stop Abby. “Relax, Ashley,” Gloria says, “I’m sure it’s just a meaningless crush… It’ll pass.” “I wish I could be that calm about it, Gloria,” Ashley expresses, “But you know as well as I do – better, actually – that Tom Fisher was a horrible, dangerous man. He terrorized my family and he’s the reason my father is dead.” “You don’t have to remind me of that, Ashley,” Gloria snaps, some anger in her voice, “But just because Tom was a horrible, abusive man doesn’t mean that Ryder is too. Look at Jack. He’s nothing like my kind and generous and loving John was. And Kevin, he may be Tom’s son, but he’s grown into a very handsome, very successful young man. Nothing like Tom.” Ashley is irritated at Gloria’ dig at Jack, but decides to ignore it.

“Maybe so, but Kevin, at one point, was very angry and destructive,” she says, “And he may have worked through those issues, but that doesn’t mean that Ryder doesn’t have his own problems that we don’t know about. If not from Tom, then from having Sheila as a mother and feeling abandoned. So do you understand why I don’t want him around my daughter?” “You have a point,” Gloria reluctantly admits. “Then, I’ll ask you again, Gloria,” Ashley repeats, “Tell me what you know about Ryder Callahan.”

Scene 4

At the Athletic Club, Alex Perez is stunned by Neil Winters’ revelation that her former fiancé Malcolm Winters is still alive. She doesn’t believe it. “Why would you say something like that?” an upset Alex asks. “Because it’s true.” Neil assures her, “My brother… Malcolm is alive.” “I need to sit down,” Alex announces. Neil helps her to a table. “You’ve actually seen him?” Alex inquires, her voice shaking. Neil remains calm. “Yes, he’s in Genoa City,” Neil tells her, “He survived the accident in Kenya. He came back a few years later after staying in Africa for a while…” Alex is suddenly very angry and confused. “Why didn’t you notify me?” she says loudly, “Why didn’t Malcolm?” “Oh, come on, Alex. It’s not like I knew how to get in touch with you after you left,” Neil defends himself, “You were the one who wanted to get away from here. I tried to convince you to stay, remember?” Alex feels light-headed. “Alex. Alex, are you okay?” Neil asks. “This is the last thing I expected to deal with when I came back to Genoa City,” she admits.

Scene 5

Abby Carlton is watching Fenmore’s Boutique while Lauren speaks to Ryder at the Coffee House. She overhears a trio of teen girls who are shopping for clothes. One girl asks her friends what they think of the top she’s holding. “I can totally help you out with that,” Abby butts in. She picks out a different colored shirt and hands it to the girl. “Try this shirt with those pants,” she says, “I’m telling you. They go perfectly together.”

“Hey, what do you think of this?” another one of the girls asks Abby, modeling an outfit that she tried on in the fitting room. Abby crinkles her nose and shakes her head. “Too old for you,” she decides, “You need to show a little more skin. Try a shorter skirt.” She pulls off a really short skirt from the clothes rack and hands it to the girl. The girl isn’t sure. “Isn’t that a bit too revealing?” she asks. “Definitely. But that’s the whole point,” Abby replies, “Trust me. This is the ‘in’ look right now.”

Then Abby turns to the third girl and looks at the top she’s holding. “And that’s not the right top for you either. Here, try this one,” she suggests, as she grabs a shirt from one of the display racks, “You’ll definitely turn heads in this.” “Thanks!” the girl replies enthusiastically. “No problem,” Abby replies with a smile. She realizes how much she’d enjoy her job at Fenmore’s.

Scene 6

Ryder Callahan is still at Crimson Lights Coffee House, nearing the end of an extra-long shift. He had agreed to watch the coffee house for his half-brother Kevin. Lauren Fenmore Baldwin arrives, hoping to ask Ryder about his twin sister Daisy’s whereabouts. “Lauren, hi,” Ryder greets her. “Ryder, listen. Do you have a minute?” Lauren asks, “I wanna talk to you about something.” “Yeah, sure,” Ryder says. He steps away from the front counter and joins Lauren at one of the side tables. “Have you been in contact with Daisy?” Lauren inquires. “No,” Ryder denies it immediately. “When’s the last time you’ve heard from her?” Lauren follows-up. “Not since that day at the amusement park. She got away, and I have no idea where she went,” Ryder explains. “Do you think it’s possible… do you think she would come back to Genoa City?” Lauren asks. She’s clearly unsettled. “I thought I saw her outside the Boutique. I mean, I saw someone with red hair. I don’t know if it was my mind just playing tricks on me… or if it really was her,” Lauren confesses. “No, there’s no way Daisy would come back here,” Ryder says confidently, “She knows I would turn her in if I saw her. She’s completely on her own. She’s running as far away from here as she can get.” Lauren is not convinced. “You don’t believe me?” Ryder asks. “I want to, but do you know how many times I wanted to believe that same thing about Sheila? About your mother…,” she says, “And Sheila always found a way to come back and wreak more havoc on my life.”

Scene 7

In the Jabot CEO’s Office, Gloria and Ashley continue talking about Ryder. “There’s not much to tell, really, Ashley,” Gloria begins to tell her, “I had no idea that Tom had another family somewhere else. I mean, he would leave for days at a time and it wouldn’t be unusual. Actually… we would wish sometimes that he wouldn’t come back. But he never mentioned Daisy and Ryder, or Sheila, or threatened that he would leave us for them, or anything like that.” “Maybe Tom never knew that he had these other children,” Ashley speculates. “No,” Gloria disagrees, “When Ryder first met Kevin, he told similar stories about being abused by Tom. That was what originally bonded them together. And he told me that Tom was his primary parent. That his mother had abandoned him… Of course, that was before we learned about Sarah… and Daisy, so I suppose his story about Tom could have been fabricated.”

“Or it could have been a complete lie,” Ashley suggests, “Either way, whatever happened during his upbringing doesn’t excuse what he’s done.” “I didn’t say it did,” Gloria replies, defensively. “It sounds like you’re making excuses for him…,” Ashley retorts, “just like you’ve always done.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” Gloria demands. “It means that, except for Lauren, every one of your family members is a felon. He fits in with the Baldwin-Fishers…” Gloria finishes Ashley’s sentence for her: “Oh, so Ryder doesn’t fit in with the ‘perfect’ Abbotts, just like I didn’t fit in with your father. Is that what you’re saying?” she asks. “You said it, not me,” Ashley responds. “You didn’t have to,” Gloria replies, realizing what Ashley meant. Ashley elaborates: “You all use Michael as your personal ‘Get out of Jail Free’ card… to find some loophole to get away with all of your crimes. As far as I’m concerned, Ryder should be locked up right now where he can’t hurt anyone else, especially Abby.”

“Did you ever think that by interfering in her personal life, you’ll just drive your daughter further away?” Gloria asks. “No offense, Gloria, but I’m not gonna be taking parenting advice from you,” Ashley snaps back. “Fine. What do you want from me then?” Gloria asks, growing frustrated. “Obviously, I feel desperate. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be turning to you,” Ashley confesses, “I want you to talk to Ryder. You were married to Tom… It’s only natural that you’d be interested in his other son. I want to know what role Tom had in his upbringing, how involved Sheila Carter was in his life, if he ever got into trouble with the law before, everything there is to know about him.” “And how do you think I’m gonna find out everything there is to know about him?” Gloria asks, “I think you have me mistaken for Paul Williams. Why don’t you get him?” “A private investigator takes time,” Ashley states, “I don’t have time… I have you.” “And what makes you think Ryder would tell me any of this?” Gloria asks. “Well, he better,” Ashley threatens, “Because the minute you stop coming through for me, Gloria, you can say goodbye to your job at Jabot.”

Scene 8

In the Fishers’ Apartment, Jana continues to react to the revelation that she killed Carmen Mesta. Kevin tries to comfort her, but she turns away. “I need some fresh air,” Jana announces abruptly. “We can go for a walk.” Kevin suggests. “No, I can’t be around you right now. I’m sorry,” Jana tells him. “So, what? Now you wanna escape your past?” Kevin asks her. “I’m not escaping my past. I just need time to process it…,” Jana answers, “to understand the person who I was. And I need to talk to someone who doesn’t know me. Who isn’t blinded by some misguided love for me.” “It’s not ‘misguided’ love!” Kevin insists, “When are you gonna realize that I love you for who you are? Jana you are a beautiful, wonderful soul who would never intentionally harm another person.”

Jana picks up the phone in the apartment. “Who are you calling?” Kevin asks. “Scott,” Jana answers. Kevin is taken aback. “Scott? You barely know him,” he replies. “We made friends at the pool party,” Jana explains, “And I feel like I can trust him.” She hangs up the phone. “I just realized… I don’t know his number,” she says, “You have it, right?” “Yeah… in my phone,” Kevin says hesitantly. “Could I see it, please?” Jana asks politely. “The number or my phone?” Kevin inquires. “Your phone,” Jana answers. “Yeah… sure,” Kevin replies, still feeling confused.

Scott Grainger, Jr. answers his cell phone. “Kev, hey, what’s up, man?” he asks. “Actually, this is Jana calling,” Jana tells him. “Oh, Jana. Hey, how’s it goin’?” Scott says. Jana gets right to the point. “You remember what I said to you at the pool, about us maybe exploring Genoa City together. I was wondering, if you’re still up for that.”

Scene 9

Devon re-enters his bedroom after having taken a phone call from an unknown caller. “You’ll never guess who that was on the phone,” Devon tells his girlfriend Roxanne. Roxanne shrugs her shoulders. She’s stumped. “I don’t know,” she admits, “Surprise me.” “Tyra,” Devon reveals. The name strikes a chord with Roxanne. She gets a little uncomfortable. “Oh?” Roxanne replies, “What did she want?” “She wants me to visit Ana,” Devon announces, “Next week, after the long weekend.” “But you’ll miss our anniversary,” Roxanne realizes. “We’ll have all the time in the world to celebrate for that, now that you’ll be staying around,” Devon assures her, “I only have a few days to visit my sister. She’s going away to summer camp in a little over a week, and she wants to see me before she goes.” “So, you said yes?” Roxanne asks. “Of course, I said yes. She’s my sister,” Devon states, “I didn’t think you would have a problem with it.” “I don’t,” Roxanne states, “I just wish it wasn’t so out-of-the-blue.”

Scene 10

As Lauren is about to leave the Coffee House, her son Scott arrives to meet Jana. “Hey honey! This is a pleasant surprise,” Lauren says. “Mom, hey!” Scott calls, as he gives her a quick kiss on the cheek, “What’re you doing here? I thought you’d be at the Boutique…” “Well, I was, but I needed to run out for a few minutes,” Lauren explains, “and I’m glad I did because now I get to spend some more time with you.” They take a seat at a table.

“How’s the suite?” Lauren asks. “It’s great. I feel like royalty,” Scott tells her, “Really, you didn’t have to pay for something so luxurious. Thank you.” “It’s my pleasure,” Lauren says, “So have you made any definite plans about staying in Genoa City?” She inquires after taking a sip of coffee. “No, I have to figure some things out still,” he admits, “If I want to get a full-time job as a teacher, then I should stay with the board in Toronto, where I at least have some connections. If I move here, I don’t even know if my degree translates. I mean, sure, I’d still have my Undergrad in English to fall back on, but that won’t get me a job in a school.” “No, it won’t,” Lauren agrees.

“You know who you should talk to is Billy Abbott, over at Restless Style,” Lauren suggests, “I’m sure he could use someone with your writing talent on his team.” “Restless Style,” Scott considers the suggestion, “Hmm. I never really thought about getting into the magazine world… if you can even call Restless Style a magazine.” “I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t been a supporter of some of Billy’s headlines and tactics, but honey, this could be a good opportunity for you,” Lauren tells her son, “And if Billy had an opening for you, I’d want you to take it.” “I’ll keep it in mind, Mom, but I think you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself here,” Scott reminds her, “I don’t even know for sure that I’m staying.” “A mother can hope, can’t she?” Lauren replies.

Scene 11

At the Athletic Club, Neil continues to update Alex on Malcolm’s return from the dead and to Genoa City. “When he came back, Malcolm, he wanted nothing to do with me,” Neil informs her. “Because of what he thought he heard between us?” Alex asks, “He thought we were betraying him?” Neil nods. “He didn’t hear you telling me that you were committed to him, and only him,” he says, “I told Malcolm the whole thing was a misunderstanding, that he was holding a grudge for years… for no reason. He actually thought I left him for dead so that I could have you…”

“What? That’s crazy,” Alex insists. “I know it is,” Neil agrees, “but Malcolm spent three years in Kenya believing that. It made him so bitter, you have no idea.” “What’s he like now?” Alex inquires. Neil takes a deep breath. “We’ve still got our problems,” he answers without going into specific detail. “I need to see him,” Alex decides, “I need to see my fiancé.” “Did you hear that? You just referred to Malcolm as your fiancé,” Neil notices. Alex hadn’t meant to do so. “Yeah, yeah, I guess I did,” she realizes. She tries to rationalize the situation: “I mean, the only reason we didn’t get married is because he was presumed dead. But if you’re telling me he’s alive…” “Yeah, but a lot has changed in eight years, Alex,” Neil repeats, warning her again, “The man who came back from Africa is not the same man we both knew before the accident. “I guess, that’s for me to decide,” Alex announces, “What’s his room number, Neil?” Neil avoids her question: “Alex, I really think you should think this through a bit more before you…,” he warns. “The room number!” Alex demands. Neil sighs. “Fourteen,” he gives in. “That’s right next to mine,” Alex realizes, “What are the chances?”

Scene 12

After Lauren leaves Crimson Lights, Scott approaches Ryder at the front counter. “Hey, what can I get you?” Ryder asks. “Double espresso,” Scott orders. “Comin’ right up,” Ryder replies. He hands Scott the espresso. “How much do I owe you?” Scott asks. “It’s on me,” Ryder offers, “It’s the least I can do.” Scott thanks him. “You were at the Newmans’,” Ryder recalls, “for the pool party.” “That’s right,” Scott says, “But we never really got a chance to get acquainted… I’m Scott.” Ryder nods. “I know who you are,” he says, “You were Sheila’s first son… That’s how she thought of you anyway.”

“Yeah, she kidnapped me as a newborn,” Scott explains, “She tried to pass me off as her own baby.” “She referred to you as my brother,” Ryder adds. “I’m sure she did,” Scott replies, the tone in his voice suggesting that Sheila was crazy.

“Look, for what it’s worth, I’m sorry for what happened to your mother,” Ryder offers. “Sheila manipulated me into poisoning my mom,” Scott admits, “I gave her a necklace and I had no idea that Sheila laced it with poison… um, so if your aunt Sarah was anything like her sister, then I understand how you can easily become involved in some twisted scheme against your will… The way I see it, is if it wasn’t for you, my mother… and Jana wouldn’t be here right now.” Ryder feels slightly uneasy. “You’re giving me too much credit,” he says, “If it weren’t for me, she wouldn’t have been kidnapped in the first place.”

Scene 13

Devon and Roxanne continue discussing Devon’s upcoming visit with Ana (and Tyra). “Why don’t I go with you?” Roxanne suggests. “No… you better not,” Devon dismisses the idea. “Why not?” Roxanne inquires, “Because of Tyra?” “Why are we ruining our evening talking about her?” Devon responds. “Because if the only reason you don’t want me to go is because you think I can’t handle being in the same room as Tyra, I can,” Roxanne insists, “I’m over what happened between the two of you…” “I know. Baby, that has nothing to do with it,” Devon insists, “You just got hired at the Boutique. How bad would it look if you go to your boss on your first day and ask for time-off?” “Yeah, that’s a good point…,” Roxanne concedes, “If I don’t have a job here, then I can’t afford to stay.” “And you know how much I want you to stay,” Devon tells her. “How much?” Roxanne asks, with a smile. “This much,” Devon replies, giving her a kiss on the lips.

“I’m gonna go take a quick shower,” Devon informs her, “If you wanna save water, you’re welcome to join me.” Roxanne smiles. “No, um, that’s okay. I think, I’m gonna go downstairs and get something to eat,” she replies. As Devon goes into the bathroom, Roxanne’s expression changes. She’s clearly uneasy about something.

Scene 14

Kevin and Jana arrive at the Coffee House, where Scott is already waiting for them. Jana excuses herself immediately to go “freshen up.” Kevin approaches Scott. “I don’t know how I feel about you taking my wife out on a date,” Kevin says as a joke, but his insecurities show through. Scott laughs a bit. “This is not a date,” he assures Kevin. “Then let me go with you,” Kevin suggests. “I don’t know, man. Three’s a crowd,” Scott jokes back, “Seriously, though, I think Jana just wants a little time away from everything that’s going on.” “Yeah, maybe you’re right,” Kevin agrees, “I don’t want her to feel like I’m suffocating her.” “Don’t worry. Jana is safe with me,” Scott tells Kevin, “And I will have her home by curfew, which is…?” Kevin manages a slight smile. “Just bring her home ready to go back to being my Jana. My wife,” he says. “I’ll do my best,” Scott promises. “Thanks, dude,” Kevin says, giving Scott a pat on the back, “Have I told you how glad I am to have you back in town?”

Scene 15

Neil runs into his boss and good friend Katherine Chancellor Murphy at the Athletic Club. “Katherine, I didn’t see you here,” Neil greets her. “Neil, how are you?” I was in the back, visiting with Gina,” Katherine tells him. She notices he seems frantic. “You seem rattled,” she observes. “I’m going through a bit of an unexpected family crisis,” Neil confides in her. “Nothing to do with Lily, is it?” Katherine asks, concerned. “No, Lily’s fine. She’s great,” Neil answers, “except for the fact that her husband is deported to Australia.” “Oh, I know, Neil, it’s terrible,” Katherine agrees, “But you know, Michael is still working on getting it reversed, and I’m confident he will come through for us all.” “Yeah, unfortunately, not soon enough though,” Neil states, “Every day Cane is away is too many for my Lily.” “Give it time,” Katherine says calmly, “We just have to be patient. Now, why don’t you tell me what else has gotten you so troubled?” “It has to do with my brother,” Neil begins, “Someone Malcolm was once very close to is back in town, and I have a feeling she’s about to get her heart broken. Again.”

Scene 16

At the Athletic Club, Alex knocks on Malcolm’s hotel room door. There’s no answer. A maid walks by. “Excuse me,” Alex calls out to her, “Have you seen the man who’s renting out this room?” “Sorry, I haven’t seen him all day,” the maid replies. “Thanks,” Alex says as the maid continues on her way. Alex goes into her own suite, plops down on the bed, and pulls out an old photo of Malcolm from her drawer. She smiles as she stares at it for a few moments.

Scene 17

Kevin joins Ryder at the front counter of Crimson Lights. “I just wanted to say I appreciate your help with the Coffee House,” Kevin thanks his half-brother, “It’s nice to have someone I can rely on while I need to… stay close to Jana.” “I’m glad you think you can count on me again,” Ryder replies as he wipes down the counter. “You’ve given me every reason to believe that I can,” Kevin responds. “Thanks,” Ryder says softly. “Yeah, no problem… Um, I’m taking off. Can you handle being here the rest of the night on your own?” “Yeah, of course,” Ryder agrees. “By the way, you’re rehired,” Kevin announces, “You can officially start tomorrow morning.” “Cool,” Ryder nods, “I’ll be here.

Scene 18

Scott and Jana are outside, in a park in the city. They stop for a minute to sit on a bench. “Do you like Chinese food?” Scott asks, “I found a great Chinese restaurant not too far from here.” “I… I don’t know,” Jana admits, “I suppose I do, but I can’t be sure. I mean, I haven’t tried any Chinese food since I’ve been out of the hospital. I’ve discovered… or rediscovered that I do like Italian food though. Gina’s lasagna is to die for!” “I know! That’s one of the things I was most looking forward to when I came back here,” Scott shares. “So let’s go then!” Jana decides. “I thought the point of our little excursion was to discover new things and places,” Scott reminds her. “Who says we can’t cheat a bit?” Jana asks, “You don’t have a problem cheating, do you?” Scott smirks. “No, no problem at all,” he tells her.

Scene 19

Roxanne walks downstairs. She stops for a moment at the end of the staircase and stares at the black leather couch in the living room. She flashes back to the night that she had come home to the Rent House and found Devon being unfaithful to her… with Tyra. She had peaked inside and seen them on the couch, kissing and removing each others’ clothing. The image is burned into her mind, and she focuses on it for a few seconds before shaking it off and continuing into the kitchen for a snack.

Scene 20

At his apartment in the city, Kevin talks on the phone to an unknown caller. “I really need you to do something for me…,” he requests. The caller answers, but the response can’t be heard. “You will? Drop everything and come to Genoa City on the first plane out,” Kevin demands, “I’ll explain when you get here.” Kevin hangs up.

Then, there’s a knock on the door. Kevin answers it. It’s Katherine. “Mrs. C, hi,” Kevin greets her. “I apologize for just dropping in like this without calling. I know it’s late,” Katherine says. “Oh, it’s no problem,” Kevin replies, motioning her inside. “Please… come in.” “Is Jana here?” Katherine inquires. Kevin shakes his head. “No, she’s out with Lauren’s son,” he answers. “She’s watching Fen?” Katherine asks. “No, Lauren’s other son,” Kevin clarifies, “Her grown son, Scott. He got back in town a few days ago.”

Scene 21

Scott and Jana are now at the Athletic Club for Gina’s lasagna. Over dinner, Jana confessed what she just learned from Kevin: that she had once killed someone. “This lasagna is delicious,” Scott remarks, ‘Exactly the way I remembered it.” Jana’s mind is elsewhere. She’s barely touched her lasagna. “What’s going on?” Scott inquires, “You’ve hardly eaten and you were the one who wanted to come here…” “Don’t you wanna run for the hills, or something?” Jana asks, “I just told you that I’m a murderer.” Scott stops eating and puts down his fork. “I don’t see a murderer staring back at me,” he reveals, as he puts his hand on top of hers, “I see a very beautiful, fun, unique woman who lives life to the fullest, and who cares too much about life to ever willingly take someone else’s… And the fact that you don’t even remember what happened, but you still feel remorse, that shows me that you’re a good person. You just got caught in a bad situation. One that you had no control over.”

“Well, I appreciate that,” Jana replies softly, “But maybe we should change the subject.” “Sure. You know, I’ve been meaning to ask you…,”Scott begins, “Your accent…” “I’m English,” Jana states the obvious. “No kidding,” Scott laughs, “I mean… where in England are you from? I had classmates from Cardiff and Hartfordshire, and Manchester, so I’m a little familiar with the area.” “I’m originally from Oxfordshire. That’s what my birth certificate says,” Jana answers, “But I grew up all over the world, really, according to Kevin.” “Me too. I went to boarding schools all over Europe, finally came back to North America and settled in Toronto. “And now here you are, back in your hometown of Genoa City,” Jana concludes his thought. “Yep. Here I am,” Scott nods. They spend a few moments lost in each others’ eyes before Jana snaps back to reality. She clears her throat.

“You know, I saw an advertisement for a drive-in a while back. Maybe we could catch a movie,” she suggests. “It’s getting a little late, don’t you think?” Scott replies, “I don’t want Kevin to worry if you’re out that late. Maybe next time, though.” “Next time?” Jana perks up, “Are you inviting me out on a second date?”

Scene 22

Lauren returns to the Boutique. Abby is standing behind the cash register. “Sorry, I’m late,” Lauren apologizes, “I ran into my son at the Coffee House.” “Oh, don’t worry about it,” Abby replies, “I had everything under control.” “It looks like it,” Lauren observes. “Um, these girls were just about to pay for their clothes,” Abby tells Lauren, acknowledging the teenage girls waiting in line, “I wasn’t sure how to use the check-out.” “Oh, okay. Let me help you with that,” Lauren offers, as the first girl hands her an outfit. Lauren rings the items through for the girls. “Come back anytime,” Abby tells them as they leave. Lauren turns to Abby. “Wow, look at you! You helped them pick out those outfits?” she asks. “Helped them?” Abby laughs, “I practically picked them for them. Trust me, they had no fashion sense at all.” “Well, you’re a natural,” Lauren compliments Abby, “Who knew?” “I did!” Abby brags, “Lauren, I knew this job would be perfect for me.” “Why don’t you stick around a few minutes, and I’ll show you how to use the register?” Lauren offers, “and I’ll call you later once I place you onto the schedule…”

Scene 23

Gloria arrives at the Coffee House and sees Ryder working at the counter. She approaches him, a devilish smile on her face. “Ryder!” she calls out, “Just the person I was hoping to see…”

Scene 24

Kevin and Katherine continue their conversation in the living room of the Fishers’ Apartment. “Can I offer you anything?” Kevin asks Katherine. “Oh, no, darling. I’m fine, thank you,” she replies. “So what brings you by?” Kevin follows up. “Well, I understand you’ve been working in IT for Tucker McCall,” she begins, “And I’m here to tell you, my dear, I think you can do so much better for yourself. Kevin, you’re a dear friend, a talented computer wizard, and I know you would be a valued employee elsewhere.” “You want me to quit my job?” Kevin asks. “I want you back on my team,” Katherine states, “Come work for me. How does Chief Information Officer at Chancellor Industries sound?”

Scene 25

It’s night time. Ashley is standing at the front door of her current residence, the Carlton Mansion, waiting for Abby to come home. “Abby! It’s about time you got home,” Ashley declares. “Relax; I made curfew,” Abby says with attitude, “…with a few minutes to spare…” “But I’ve had no idea where you were,” Ashley tells her, “although if I had to guess, I’d say, probably with Ryder.” “No, actually, I wasn’t,” Abby defends herself. Ashley is unconvinced. “Do you really expect me to believe that?” she asks. “Yes, because it’s true. I wasn’t even at the Coffee House,” Abby explains, “I went to Fenmore’s Boutique.” “You were downstairs from me the whole time?” Ashley inquires. Abby nods. “So I tell you you’re grounded,” Ashley begins, “and you went shopping?” “No, I got a job,” Abby corrects her. Ashley is shocked. “Excuse me?” she reacts, in disbelief. “Lauren hired me,” Abby states, “I’m the new sales associate at Fenmore’s.” “You’re also grounded, honey,” Ashley reminds her, “What, did you get that job just so you could leave the house?” “I did it so you would start to treat me like a grown-up,” Abby explains. Ashley sighs. “We’re gonna have to talk to your father about this, see if you can keep this job…”

Scene 26

Scott and Jana are nearing the end of their evening together. They’re back at Kevin and Jana’s apartment complex now, walking down a corridor. Jana clarifies her earlier comment about being invited on a second date. “I heard Kevin say that to you, as a joke, about this being a date,” she explains, “I know this isn’t a date. I’m married to Kevin. Even though I don’t remember him. But that won’t be for much longer. I mean, my amnesia. Not the marriage. I’m gonna get my memory back soon. I am.” She’s rambling, and not sounding entirely convinced of what she’s saying. “Of course you will,” Scott encourages her.

They reach the front door of Kevin and Jana’s apartment. “Um, I’d offer to let you come inside, but you know…,” Jana pauses. Scott finishes her thought. “Kevin’s in there,” he realizes. “Yeah,” Jana says softly. “And if this were a date, I’d kiss you good night,” Scott begins, “but then again…” “It’s not a date,” Jana remarks, this time completing his sentence. “No, definitely not a date,” Scott repeats. “Well, maybe a hug then,” Jana suggests all-of-a-sudden. “Yeah, I can do that. Come here,” Scott agrees, pulling her close to him and embracing her. “Kevin’s a lucky guy. You know that, right?” he says as they are hugging. “And when you find the right lass for you, she’ll be very lucky too,” Jana tells him. “Thanks,” Scott says with a smile. “Good night,” Jana whispers as she goes inside the apartment. “Good night,” Scott responds. He lingers outside the door for a few moments.

“Kevin’s a very lucky guy,” Scott says aloud to himself as he walks towards the elevator, a big smirk on his face.

Next Time on The Young and The Restless

At the Athletic Club, Tucker McCall tells Katherine Chancellor Murphy, “I’ve realized what we could accomplish if we were united, mother and son, working together instead of against one another.”

Outside of Trumble’s Book Store, Victoria Newman and her ex-husband JT Hellstrom argue about their son Reed Hellstrom. “Are you trying to manipulate our son?” JT asks harshly. Victoria looks over at Mackenzie Browning, JT’s new girlfriend, holding Reed’s hand. “The way I see it, by allowing Reed to spend so much time with her, you are the one who is manipulating our son!”

Alex Perez returns to her former fiancé Malcolm Winters’s room at the Athletic Club. She knocks on the door and this time, she gets an answer. For the first time in eight years, Alex and Malcolm come face to face. “Alex…,” Malcolm finally mutters. “Hi Malcolm,” Alex responds shyly.

Scene 1

Ashley Abbott sits at her desk in the CEO’s Office of Jabot Cosmetics. There is a knock on the door. “Come in!” Ashley calls. It’s her former step-mother and the current Ambassadress of Jabot, Gloria Bardwell. “Good morning, Ashley!” Gloria greets her, sounding very chipper. “Gloria, I’m very busy,” Ashley states coldly. “I can see that,” Gloria responds, “I was hoping you could give me just a few minutes of your time, but if you want me to come back, just say the words.” “I don’t want you to come back…,” Ashley begins. Gloria cuts her off. “Okay, then, I’ll stay,” Gloria says as she takes a seat. “Gloria, you misunderstand me,” Ashley clarifies, “I don’t want you to come back… because you shouldn’t have been here in the first place.”

Scene 2

Tucker McCall sits alone at a table at the Athletic Club. He’s having a drink, waiting on breakfast. “Dining alone?” someone asks. Tucker looks up to see his ex-lover, Jill Abbott. “Well, I’m actually waiting for someone…,” Tucker tells her. “A lady friend?” Jill inquires. Tucker smiles. “A business associate who happens to be a woman, yes,” he clarifies. “Oh, so it’s strictly business and not pleasure?” Jill asks, not buying Tucker’s answer. “I’ve never had a problem mixing the two before,” Tucker states. “No, you certainly haven’t,” Jill agrees, taking a seat at the table, “You don’t mind if I join you while you’re waiting, do you?” “How can I say no to the company of a beautiful woman?” Tucker replies.

Scene 3

Katherine Chancellor Murphy and Nikki Newman are sitting in the living room of the Chancellor Estate, discussing Katherine’s return to Chancellor Industries. “The first thing I did was shoot down a proposal by Tucker McCall,” Katherine informs Nikki. Nikki has a disgusted look. “That man wastes no time, does he?” Nikki says, “What did he want now?” “You’ll never believe it,” Katherine begins, “He actually wanted me to merge Chancellor Industries with his company. My God, how naïve does he think I am?” “I hope that’s what you told him,” Nikki says. “You bet I did. But I don’t want to talk anymore about Tucker. Darling, that’s not why I asked you here,” Katherine tells her, “I asked you here, Nikki, because… I want you to work for me… at Chancellor.”

Scene 4

Victor Newman is in the lobby of the Jabot Cosmetics building, hoping to speak to his ex-wife Ashley about their daughter Abby Carlton. He runs into his nemesis Jack Abbott, who also stopped by to see Ashley. “Well, if it isn’t ‘The Moustache’ himself,” Jack greets Victor. Victor is not amused. “What do you want, Jack?” he asks, clearly not in the mood. “What’s on the agenda today?” Jack inquires, “I know: using your blind, baby-napping son to steal my family company out from under me, again? Or maybe bringing one of my ex-wives back to town, with a new identity, so she can make my life a living hell? “Oh, nothing so satisfying, Jack,” Victor responds, slightly amused. “Besides, you’ve already done those things,” Jack states, “I’m sure, the next time you come after me, you’ll have something new up your sleeve.” Victor is only half-listening now. He turns to Jack.

“It seems you have an awful lot of spare time on your hands, now that you’re once again barred from Jabot,” Victor points out. “You really should take up a hobby, Jack, instead of wasting your time speculating on how I’m spending my days.” “This oughta be good,” Jack comments, “What hobby do you suggest I take up?” “I hear origami is as good for your soul as it is for your fingers,” Victor states. Jack smirks. “The art of paper folding? Oh, no, I think you’d do a much better job at that,” he says, “After all, I seem to recall you being an expert at the art of paper cutting. What was it again you used to make? Oh yeah, snowflakes.” Jack is referring to the time period when Victor was affected by temporal lobe epilepsy. Victor chuckles. “That’s a low blow,” he says, “even for you, Jack.” “Hey, I’m trying to help you,” Jack insists, “I actually liked that ‘arts-and-crafts guy,’ remember?” “You liked that you could take advantage of that ‘arts-and-crafts guy’, or you thought you could,” Victor clarifies before issuing a warning, “Ain’t gonna happen no more.”

“Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m here to speak to your sister, about something concerning your niece,” Victor informs his rival, “You have a good day, Jack.” He is insincere. “Always nice to see you, Victor,” Jack says in a taunting way as Victor walks towards Ashley’s office.

Scene 5

At the Athletic Club, Tucker and Jill have been talking as he waits for his business associate to join him for breakfast. “Well, Jill, as much as I like talking about the weather with you, you can get to the point of why you’re really here,” Tucker announces, growing a little impatient. “Why I’m really here?” Jill is unsure what he’s implying, “I saw you sitting alone. I just thought it would be a shame for you to be eating here all by yourself, that’s all…” Tucker is still skeptical. “Are you telling me you haven’t heard the latest?” he inquires. Jill is confused. “The latest?” she asks, prompting him to explain. Tucker realizes Jill doesn’t know about the business proposal he made to Katherine. He smirks a little. “And here, I thought you only stopped by to get information out of me, not because you enjoy being around me so much,” he tells her. “Oh, well, don’t flatter yourself,” Jill replies, “Like I said, it was more pity than anything else. But I must say, now that you’ve piqued my interest, why don’t you tell me what it is you thought I was here to talk about.”

“I made Katherine an offer,” Tucker states. “For you to leave town?” Jill jokes. “Just the opposite,” Tucker replies, “No, the offer I made would cement my place in Genoa City for a long… long time. “Do tell,” Jill requests. “Alright,” Tucker begins, “A merger of two equals… so to speak.” Jill almost spits out her drink. “Wait a minute, are you saying what I think you’re saying?” she asks. Tucker nods. “I offered to merge Tucker McCall Unlimited with Chancellor Industries,” he confirms. Jill stands up. “Jill, where are you going?” Tucker inquires. “To make sure that Old Dingbat doesn’t make the biggest mistake of her life,” Jill responds as she rushes towards the foyer. Tucker laughs out loud, amused.

Scene 6

At Devon Hamilton’s Rent House, Devon and his adoptive father Neil Winters are saying goodbye to Devon’s girlfriend, Roxanne Porter, who is leaving Genoa City to accept a job offer in Atlanta. “You all packed up?” Neil asks. Roxanne points to a small suitcase. “Yeah, this is all I have,” she responds, “Devon said I could leave some stuff here… for when I visit.” “Which I hope will be often,” Neil tells her. “Of course,” Roxanne promises. “You know, it’s too bad I didn’t know about your job offer sooner. We could have had a farewell party.” “Hey, the real farewell party was last night,” Devon jokes. “A little too much information,” Neil tells him.

Roxanne prepares to say goodbye to Devon. “It’ll definitely be… uh, different, not having you around here,” Devon tells his girlfriend. “We’ll still talk on the phone. All the time. And e-mail,” Roxanne assures him, “I mean, we won’t see each other as often, but we’ll still keep in touch. And I’ll come visit on weekends… whenever I can.” “Yeah, I know,” Devon nods, “It just… won’t be the same.”

“Come here,” Neil says to Roxanne as he gives her a hug, “We’ll miss you.” “I’ll miss being here too,” Roxanne tells him, “You and Lily have been so great to me. Like a second family.” “Yeah, I’m sorry she couldn’t be here,” Devon says, “She’s still getting her strength back up. But she told me wish you good luck for her.” “I totally understand,” Roxanne replies, “I’ll give her a call when I get to Atlanta.” “Do you need a ride to the airport?” Neil offers. “Thanks, but I already called a cab,” Roxanne answers, “There’s one more stop I have to make before I go, and I don’t want you to feel like you’re shuttling me around.” “Really, it’s no trouble,” Neil insists. “I know, and I appreciate it,” Roxanne says, “But I’d kinda just like to alone before I go.” “Oh yeah, sure… No problem,” Neil agrees. “Here, give me one last kiss before you go,” Devon offers. They share a final embrace and kiss. “Bye,” Roxanne says softly and hesitantly as she grabs her suitcase and walks out the door, a sad look on her face. Devon and Neil stand in the doorway watching her leave. Neil puts his hand on Devon’s shoulder. Neither one says a word.

Scene 7

In the Jabot CEO’s Office, Ashley and Gloria continue their conversation. “I want you to realize something, Gloria,” Ashley tells her, “When you tainted that face cream, you were very quick to point the fingers at both me and Jack, blaming our “negligence” for allowing that cream to become contaminated. Because of what you did, Jack wasn’t allowed to have anything to do with Jabot because it was the only way we could settle things with Andrew Gibson. Now, we could have gotten that same clause against you, in our settlement.” And “I’m very grateful you didn’t, Ashley,” Gloria says sincerely, “Being back at Jabot… it means so much to me. And I’m glad you brought up our settlement, because that’s what I’m here to talk to you about.” Gloria catches Ashley’s attention. “Go on; I’m listening,” Ashley says. Gloria explains: “Well, when Victor hired me for this job, I agreed to a salary that was next to nothing,” she says, “It wasn’t about the money. I wanted to have a hand in preserving John’s legacy.” “You had a hand in almost destroying it too,” Ashley can’t resist the chance to remind her. “And I regret that more than anything,” Gloria assures her, “That’s why this job is so important to me. It’s about being able to make things right again. I won’t let you… or John down, Ashley. Please…”

Scene 8

At the Chancellor Estate, Nikki reacts to Katherine’s job offer. “Work for you at Chancellor?” Nikki repeats. She’s caught off guard by Katherine’s request. “I trust your business instincts, darling,” Katherine explains, “I always have. That’s why I asked you to be CEO of Jabot before. That’s why I want you on my team now. Will you think about it?” “I can give you my decision right now,” Nikki informs her. “You already know?” Katherine asks. “Yes, yes, I’ll do it,” Nikki states, “I think this is exactly what I need to be doing right now.

Suddenly, the sound of the front door being slammed is heard and Jill rushes in frantically. “Katherine!” she shouts as she runs into the room. “Jill, calm down!” Katherine yells back, “For heaven’s sakes, what in blazes has gotten you all excited?” “You tell me you said no,” Jill begins, “You tell me you are not merging Chancellor Industries with Tucker McCall!”

Scene 9

Lauren Fenmore Baldwin is preparing a new clothing display at Fenmore’s Boutique, just before opening the store. There is a knock on the door. “We’re closed!” Lauren shots without looking up. She glances over, and sees through the semi-translucent glass, sees the silhouette of a young woman who clearly has long red hair. “Daisy?” Lauren calls out. She runs over to the door, unlocks it, and rushes out to the first floor of the Jabot building. “Daisy, is that you?” Lauren shouts. There’s no one there. Lauren tries to calm herself down. “I’m just imagining things,” she tells herself, “Daisy’s long gone from here. She wouldn’t come back…”

Scene 10

Gloria and Ashley continue to discuss Gloria’s employment at Jabot. “Do you think you can do it, Ashley?” Gloria asks, “Do you think you can put aside our differences and work together to carry on your father’s legacy… the way that John would want us to?” “I still haven’t heard what any of this has to do with the settlement,” Ashley says sternly.

“It’s simple, Ashley. You keep me on as Jabot Ambassadress, and you raise my salary considerably,” Gloria elaborates, “We make an agreement that a pre-determined percentage of my earnings is to be deducted each week until we can pay off the settlement. This is what we should have done from the beginning.” Ashley considers what Gloria’s saying. “You’d still be making money off of this deal, and I don’t know if I’m comfortable with that,” Ashley admits. “Just don’t make any decisions in haste,” Gloria pleads, “Ashley, please. Just think about it.” Ashley sighs. “I’ll let you know by the end of the day,” she says.

Victor knocks on the door and peaks inside. “Am I interrupting?” he asks. “No, we’re just finishing up here,” Ashley answers. Victor walks inside and Gloria is leaving. “Victor,” she acknowledges him. “Gloria, how are you settling in here?” Victor inquires. “Very well, thanks to you,” Gloria responds. “I picked the best person for the job,” Victor states, purposely exaggerating, “Now, if you’ll excuse us…” “Of course,” Gloria says. She leaves the room.

“Well, I was about to go on my lunch break, but I think I just lost my appetite,” Ashley announces. “What I’ve come to tell you won’t help matters, either,” Victor warns her.

“Is this about Abby?” Ashley inquires, fearing she already knows the answer. “Mmhmm,” Victor confirms, nodding his head, “You know, the company she’s been keeping lately leaves a lot to be desired.” “I don’t understand,” Ashley remarks, confused, “Who has she been hanging out with?” “Did you know she’s been spending a lot of time with this despicable Ryder Callahan fellow?” Victor asks. “Ryder Callahan… that’s Tom Fisher’s son, the man who helped kidnap Lauren and Jana?” Ashley asks, “What would Abby want with someone like that?” “Apparently, a relationship,” Victor states, “Noah admitted to me he saw Abby kissing him yesterday at the pool party.” “Are you serious?” Ashley reacts, “I mean, I knew she was bound to be interested in boys, but…” Victor finishes her sentence for her: “He’s not a boy; he’s a man,” Victor points out, “He’s at least old enough to be out of college.” “Yeah, I don’t want Abby around someone that age,” Ashley agrees, “never mind the kidnapping charges.” “Talk to her,” Victor says, “Make her understand that he’s all wrong for her, that he’s nothing but trouble. Because I won’t continue to sit around and do nothing while she ruins her life by hanging around with this punk. The sooner he’s out of her life, the better.” “I agree,” Ashley echoes.

Scene 11

Abby Carlton walks in to Crimson Lights Coffee House and sees Ryder Callahan working at the front counter again. “You’re here again,” Abby states the obvious. “You’re not grounded,” Ryder points out, “I’m surprised your parents even let you out of the house after yesterday.” “Well, my father, he just blew a lot of hot air. He tried to intimidate me,” Abby says, “But since he realized that he can’t control me that way, I’m sure that the first thing on his list today is going to my mom. So this’ll probably be the last time I see you in a while.” As she finishes speaking, her cell phone rings. Abby’s pulls it out and checks the caller ID. “Told ya,” she says, “It’s my mom.” She answers the call, “Hi mom. I’m kind of busy right now,” Abby tells her mother. “Honey, I don’t care. I’d like to see you,” Ashley says, “Come by my office.” “Fine,” Abby agrees, rolling her eyes. She hangs up. “I’m about to have my sentence handed to me,” she tells Ryder. “Good luck,” he replies. “Yeah, thanks,” Abby says as she heads for the exit.

Scene 12

At the Chancellor Estate, Jill tries to convince Katherine to turn down Tucker’s proposal, unaware that Katherine already did so. Nikki listens in on the dispute. “Now, hold on just a minute here,” Katherine shouts, “What makes you think that I would even agree to such a ludicrous offer in the first place? My God, Chancellor Industries was just returned to me. I’m not gonna merge it with another company, for heaven’s sakes. Especially Tucker McCall’s.” “Oh…,” Jill calms down, “Well, I knew you and Tucker were warming up to each other before that Restless Style article came out. I didn’t want you to see you fall for his tricks again.” “Jill, Katherine is a very smart woman,” Nikki defends her friend, “You have to trust that she can make the right decisions.” “Nikki, I’m in no mood for another episode of your mother-daughter act,” Jill bites back before having a realization, “Wait a minute. You know about this already, didn’t you? You knew about Tucker’s offer!” “Jill, if you’d calm down for one minute,” Katherine begins, but Jill interrupts her.

“You told her before you even came to me?” Jill shouts, “That really says something, doesn’t it?” “Jill… Jill, for heaven’s sakes! That is enough!” Katherine yells, trying to overpower Jill, “Now sit down and shut up and listen to what I have to say!” Jill obeys. “Alright, Old Woman,” she says, “I’m listening.” “Good… I’ve decided you can come back to work at Chancellor,” Katherine announces, “Not as CEO, obviously. That position will stay with Neil… but as a top-level executive.” “I understand,” Jill says, “and I accept. I may not be a Chancellor by name, but like you, I have always belonged there.” “Just wait a second, Jill. You haven’t heard everything I have to say,” Katherine continues, “There is one condition...” “Name it,” Jill says eagerly, obviously not anticipating what’s to come. “You have to work with Nikki,” Katherine states.

Scene 13

At Fenmore’s Boutique, Roxanne approaches Lauren. “Hi, can I help you?” Lauren says. “I’m… Roxanne Porter,” she extends her hand. “Oh, yes! That’s right,” Lauren responds, her memory jogged, “You’re Devon’s girlfriend.” “I’m here about the sales job,” Roxanne reminds Lauren. “Right, I’m sorry. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately. I’ve been a little distracted this morning,” Lauren explains, “Um, let’s see. Do you have any experience working in retail?” “No. I was a waitress all through high school,” Roxanne says, “but I’ve been focusing exclusively on my studies for the past few years.” “Do you have a copy of your resume?” Lauren inquires. “Yes, right here,” Roxanne answers, as she takes an envelope out of her handbag and hands it to Lauren. Lauren takes a quick glance.

“Let’s have a look...,” she says, skimming the page, “You made the Dean’s List every year, served four years on the GCU Student Government…” “Re-elected with the highest number of votes every year,” Roxanne adds. Lauren looks impressed. “You’re obviously a very bright and ambitious woman, but to be perfectly frank, I’m not sure what a girl with a degree in political science wants working in a boutique,” Lauren admits, “If you don’t mind me asking, what makes you come looking for a job here, of all places?” “Well, I’ve always had an interest in fashion, ever since I was a little girl,” Roxanne explains. Lauren nods. “I can see you clearly have a good fashion sense about you,” she says, studying what Roxanne is wearing.

Roxanne smiles. “Thank you. But really… actually, the real reason I’m here… is because, well, I was offered a job in Atlanta. A really great job. I’m supposed to leave in a few hours, actually,” Roxanne admits, “But the more the time gets closer, I realize I’m not ready to leave Genoa City, to be almost a thousand miles away from Devon. I just, I saw a ‘Help Wanted’ sign in the window and I thought, well, if I could get a job here, then I could stay in town. I promise, I’m a really hard worker. And I’m reliable…” Lauren nods in agreement. She takes another quick glance at Roxanne’s resume. “I’ve been really short-staffed lately, and with your work ethic, your social skills, it’d be an asset to this place, I think,” Lauren compliments her, “Plus… I’m a sucker for a good love story.” “Does that mean what I think it means?” Roxanne asks, a big smile on her face. “You’re hired!” Lauren confirms, with a huge smile on her face. “Thank you!” Roxanne exclaims, “You have no idea how much this means to me.”

Scene 14

Alex Perez meets her employer Tucker in the Athletic Club dining room. “Alex, right on time,” Tucker says. He stands up to get her seat ready, but Alex seats herself. “How did it go? Did Katherine accept your proposal?” she asks. “She needs a little more time,” Tucker states confidently, “but I’m sure once she steps back and considers all the benefits, she’ll be on board with the merger.” “Is there anything you want me to do in the mean time?” Alex offers. “You’re talking about what we discussed earlier?” Tucker asks, “You trying to convince Neil Winters?” “Well, it’s an option,” Alex reminds him. “Yeah, but I’m not sure I want to take that next step yet,” Tucker admits, “Still, your willingness to come through for me has definitely not gone unnoticed. I think we’re going to have a long and very profitable business relationship.” “To us,” Alex offers a toast. “To us,” Tucker echoes, as he clinks his glass with Alex’s.

Scene 15

Jack visits his sister Ashley at Jabot. “Hey sis. I was in the neighborhood. Thought I’d stop by,” Jack says, “I didn’t see ‘The Moustache’ leave.” “He went out the back way,” Ashley says, “Didn’t want to have another encounter with you.” “That’s too bad,” Jack remarks, “I hate to miss an opportunity to verbally spar with ‘The Black Knight.’” “Jack, Victor is still the father of my daughter, who happens to need us both very much right now,” Ashley explains, “so please try to behave yourself.” “Everything alright with Abby?” Jack asks, concerned. “She’s just acting out,” Ashley informs her brother, “It turns out she has a crush on an older boy, and quite frankly, I think she’s just revelling against Victor and me to get our attention. It’s been a really difficult year for her.”

Jack changes the subject. “So how are things going here?” Jack asks as he glances around the CEO’s office, the office that used to be his. “Really well, actually,” Ashley replies, somewhat vaguely, “I am determined to return Jabot back to its former self. The transition has been really smooth, and everything has been going great. Except for one person, really.” “Is Tucker causing you grief?” Jack asks. “No,” Ashley denies, “It’s not Tucker. It’s the woman who has been a thorn in our side ever since she met our father six years ago.” “Gloria,” Jack realizes. “Yeah. I mean, I’ve got enough problems right now,” Ashley states, “I don’t need her parading around Jabot, making things worse.” “I say fire the witch,” Jack suggests, without hesitation, “The only thing Gloria should be Ambassadress of is a trailer park… Besides, Victor only hired her to stick it to me. Now, that he’s out of here and you’re in charge, you should have no problem getting rid of her. She is just an unwanted presence here.”

“That reminds me, what did Diane want the other day?” Ashley changes the subject. “Oh, from the sounds of it, you’re not the only one with a teenage troublemaker on your hands,” Jack states cryptically. “Kyle?” Ashley inquires, already knowing the answer. “Yeah, I guess he’s been getting into some trouble lately; his grades were really low,” Jack explains. “And you’re gonna be the one to get him back on the straight-and-narrow?” Ashley asks. “That’s the idea, but who knows?” Jack says, “If he doesn’t listen to the woman who’s raised him since birth, why would he listen to a man who’s hardly ever been there for him before?”

Scene 16

Gloria goes downstairs to Fenmore’s Boutique to see Lauren. “Gloria, hi…,” Lauren greets her mother-in-law, “What’re you doing here?” “I’m on my lunch break,” Gloria answers, “I wanted to see a friendly face.” Lauren can tell that Gloria is not her usual self. “Is something wrong?” Lauren asks. “Today, Ashley decides whether I get to keep my job at Jabot,” Gloria tells her. “I’m sorry,” Lauren offers her, “You know, I know how much it means to you being at Jabot. Either way, you gave it your all and you should be proud of your contributions there.” “Yeah… you’re right,” Gloria realizes, “The one thing the Abbotts can’t take away from me is what I’ve accomplished at my husband’s company. And if they wanna be personal and hold a grudge, then I’m gonna walk away knowing that for the past few months, I’ve helped make Jabot a success again. I’ve turned around my image and I’m a respected spokeswoman for the company that my husband founded, the company that he wanted me to have a say in.” “I’m glad you can look at the positive side,” Lauren says, “Don’t let it get you down.”

“What about you?” Gloria asks, “You look a little down yourself.” “Yeah… the funniest thing happened earlier today,” Lauren confides, “Actually, it wasn’t funny at all… I thought I saw Daisy. Out of the corner of my eye.” “Where? Here, at the Boutique?” Gloria reacts. “Yeah,” Lauren confirms. “Are you sure?” Gloria asks, “Do you really think she’d come back here after everything she did?” “Ryder did,” Lauren answers. “But that was different,” Gloria states, “He helped you and Jana out. He didn’t want to go through with the kidnapping. Daisy forced him into it.” “Maybe he’s the reason she came back,” Lauren speculates. “You think they’re plotting something again?” Gloria inquires. “No, I really, I don’t think Ryder would betray us again,” Lauren replies, “He likes being part of our family. He would never do anything to jeopardize that. But it doesn’t matter why Daisy’s back. If she is though, then one thing I know for sure is we are all still in danger.”

Scene 17

At Crimson Lights Coffee House, a man dressed in a business suit sits at the table reading the latest edition of the Genoa City Chronicle. The newspaper obscures his face. Ryder is making the rounds, asking customers if they want a coffee refill. He reaches the man’s table. “Can I get you anything?” he asks politely. As the man puts down the newspaper, Ryder realizes it’s Victor. “Mr. Newman…,” Ryder says, somewhat taken aback. Victor answers the question: “You most certainly can,” he states calmly, “You can get the hell out of Genoa City.”

Scene 18

Abby enters Ashley’s CEO Office at Jabot, fairly certain that Victor told Ashley about her kissing Ryder at the pool party. “There you are, honey,” Ashley says, “I’ve been waiting for you.” Abby is immediately suspicious. “Dad was here, wasn’t he?” she asks. Ashley nods. “You just missed him,” she answers. Abby rolls her eyes. “I guess that means I’m in for a lecture from you too now, doesn’t it?” Abby asks, with an attitude. “Drop the attitude, sweetie!” Ashley orders, “This is serious! I mean, Ryder Callahan – do you not realize the terrible things that he did?”

“You are all such hypocrites!” Abby yells, “I mean, Dad is responsible for everything that Patty did to Uncle Jack. He’s responsible for Colleen’s death…” Ashley is sympathetic. “Sweetheart, I’m really sorry that all of these bad things have happened to you and our family lately, but that isn’t the issue right now,” she tells Abby, “The issue is you and Ryder.” “We’re just friends!” Abby says, annoyed. “From the tone of your voice and the look on your face, honey, it seems like you’d like it to be more than that,” Ashley observes. “I’d like to be treated like an adult,” Abby talks back, “I’m old enough to decide who my friends are.” “Not if the qualities you look for in a friend are lying and deceiving, and kidnapping,” Ashley chastises, “I agree with your father on this one… I don’t want you anywhere near Ryder.” “This isn’t fair!” Abby protests, “You haven’t even gotten to know him.” “I have no interest in getting to know him,” Ashley responds, “I know enough, and believe me, I don’t like anything that I see.” “Well, Mom, I don’t really care what you see,” Abby snaps, “Because you’re blind.” Abby doesn’t want to hear anymore from Ashley. She heads towards the door. “Where are you going?” Ashley calls out. “I’m going out!” Abby yells back, refusing to answer the question. “Abby, get back here!” Ashley orders, to no avail, “If you walk out of here, you are grounded!” Abby ignores Ashley’s threat and storms out of the room.

Scene 19

Jack walks by the Jabot Boardroom and pauses for a moment to reminisce. The silence is interrupted by a voice calling out to him from behind. “Jack! It’s very nice of you to visit us here at Jabot,” his former step-mother Gloria gloats. Jack turns around. “It was then that he realized his dream for Jabot Cosmetics had suddenly become a nightmare,” Jack states. “Ha ha, very funny, Jack,” Gloria remarks sarcastically, “Maybe a nightmare for you, but I gotta tell you, it’s certainly a dream come true for me being back here… a real Cinderella story. After years of being mistreated by you and your sister, I’ve made it. My persistence has paid off.” “Newsflash, Gloria, you’re no Cinderella. You’re the Wicked Stepmother,” Jack jibes back, “And I wouldn’t get too comfortable here if I were you…” “Ashley, she may not like me, but she has a head for business,” Gloria says, “She’ll realize I’ve been nothing but successful since my long-deserved return to my husband’s company.” “He was never your husband,” Jack corrects her, “despite your many attempts to trick him into a marriage that wasn’t legal.” “John loved me… very much,” Gloria reminds Jack, “and I am right where he wanted me to be. Face it, Jack. I’m back at Jabot, and I’m staying.” She’s not exactly convinced of what she’s saying, but she’ll take any opportunity to gloat in front of Jack. “Don’t be so sure,” Jack warns as he walks away.

Scene 20

Neil is at the Athletic Club to pick up lunch. Alex comes down the stairs and sees him standing by the take-out counter. She takes a moment to collect herself and then approaches him. “Neil?” Alex calls out. Neil turns around, not sure who to expect. His eyes widen. “Alex?!” he exclaims, “Wow, look at you! You haven’t aged a day in, what’s it been, eight years?” “Has it really been that long?” Alex wonders, doing the math quickly in her head, “Yeah, I guess it has. Malcolm’s been gone for…” She stops, not wanting to relive painful memories. “So what are you doing here?” Neil asks. “I work for Tucker McCall now. And as I understand it, you’re CEO of Chancellor, one of our subsidiaries.” “You’re working for Tucker McCall?” Neil is surprised. “Head of legal,” Alex elaborates, “Just moved out here from New York.” “Well, how about that?” Neil says, “It’s good to see you again!”

Scene 21

Devon lies on the couch watching TV, trying not to think about Roxanne, who is about to board a plane to Atlanta. Suddenly, the front door opens. He looks up over the couch and is surprised to see his girlfriend standing in the doorway. She’s holding her suitcase. “Roxanne… What’re you doing here?” Devon asks, “I thought you had to be at the airport by now… You’re gonna miss your flight.” “I got a job!” Roxanne proudly announces. Devon is confused. “I know… in Atlanta,” he says, trying to figure out what Roxanne is saying. “No, here,” Roxanne clarifies, “Here… as in Genoa City?” Devon says, still in disbelief. “Fenmore’s Boutique,” Roxanne informs her boyfriend. “So you’re staying in town?” Devon reacts excitedly. “Yes!” Roxanne exclaims. “Really? That’s great!” Devon shouts before having a realization: “What about Atlanta?” he asks, “I mean, you already have your plane ticket, your bags packed...” “Atlanta may have a job waiting for me, and I have family there,” Roxanne begins, “but there’s one thing that isn’t in Atlanta: you.”

Scene 22

In the living room of the Chancellor Estate, Jill reacts to Katherine’s suggestion that she would have to work with Nikki. “Work with Nikki?” Jill exclaims, in disbelief, “Katherine, are you crazy? Or let me rephrase that: have you gone more loony tunes than normal?” “Jill!” Nikki scolds her. “Darling, it’s okay,” Katherine tells Nikki. She turns to Jill: “Jill, I need to be surrounded by people I trust at work, now more than ever. Nikki has always been a dear and trusted friend, you know that. And you and I, we have come a long, long way, and I am proud to include you in that same category of family and friends.” “Oh, spare me!” Jill snaps, “You’re just doing this because you feel sorry for me.”

Katherine is confused. “A moment ago you were all too eager to accept,” she states, “Is there some kind of problem that you’re not telling me, Jill?” “Well, you remember what happened last time we had to work together?” Jill reminds Katherine, “Nikki couldn’t handle having me as her superior. She didn’t want my input and she made crucial decisions without consulting me.” Nikki scoffs. “Oh, that is ridiculous, Jill, and you know it,” Nikki fires back, “You tried to micromanage everything I did, and you wanted to be consulted on things that were of no concern to you.” “You see? This is proof of what I’m saying,” Jill announces, “Not only is she unmanageable, but she is delusional too!” Katherine and Nikki both scoff.

Scene 23

Abby goes to Fenmore’s Boutique to see Lauren. “Abby, hi. You know, I was just about to run out…,” Lauren informs her, “Actually, I’m on my way to see Ryder. Do you know if he’s still at the Coffee House?” “Probably,” Abby replies, “I know Kevin asked him to cover his shift again.” “Thanks,” Lauren says, “So, do you think you can come back a little later?” “Oh, you have to close up,” Abby realizes. “Yeah, I’m really short-staffed right now. I just hired a new girl, but she couldn’t start today,” Lauren explains, “It’s no fun being here all alone. Both the customers and the business suffer.” “That’s what I was hoping you’d say,” Abby remarks. Lauren is confused. “That’s not exactly the kind of thing most people would hope for,” she says. Abby laughs. “What I mean is, I was hoping you’d say you needed someone because... I’d like a job.” Lauren is caught off-guard. “Oh!?” she responds. “Yeah, I want to make my own way in life,” Abby tells Lauren, “I know I could handle it.” “Well, I do have an opening for one more sales position,” Lauren confesses.

Abby has an idea: “Why don’t you let me watch the store for you while you’re gone?” she enthusiastically suggests, “Then you won’t have to lose out on business.” “I can’t exactly just leave the store to someone who has no experience,” Lauren tells her. “Maybe not in selling clothes,” Abby agrees, “but I am an experienced shopper. I know all the hot looks; I know what people my age are into, and what I lack in experience, I make up for in enthusiasm. Please, Lauren, give me a chance.” Lauren finds herself unexpectedly impressed by Abby’s attitude. “Okay, you’re on,” she agrees, “You watch the store for me while I’m away. And we’ll see how it goes when I get back. You might have yourself a job…”

Scene 24

At the Coffee House, Ryder and Victor continue their conversation. “Look, Mr. Newman, I know you don’t want me here…,” Ryder says. “You’re damn right, I don’t want you here,” Victor interjects, “You’ve done enough damage in this town already. I don’t want you involving my daughter in any more of your crimes.” “Abby and I are friends,” Ryder insists, “I would never do anything to hurt her… we understand each other.” Victor removes his reading glasses and stares Ryder right in the eye. “You understand this: My daughter has had a lot of upheaval in her life lately, some of which she blames me and her mother for. Now, her hanging around with you is just another way for her to rebel.” “Maybe if you stopped trying to control her so much, she wouldn’t want to get away from you,” Ryder fires back, surprised that he actually spoke up against Victor Newman. Victor leans in closely to Ryder: “Now, you listen to me… You stay far away from my daughter, or you’ll have me to deal with. And I promise you, if you were afraid of your pathetic excuse for a mother and your sister, they are nothing compared to me. You got that!?” Victor’s warning leaves Ryder speechless and scared.

Scene 25

Ashley sits at her desk pondering Jack’s comments about Gloria, as well as Victor’s news about Abby’s interest in Ryder, who happens to be the son of Gloria’s ex-husband. Gloria knocks on Ashley’s door and enters her office. “You wanted to see me,” Gloria says softly, anxious to hear what Ashley has to say. “I’ve come to a decision,” Ashley announces. “And?” Gloria presses her for more. “You can keep your job,” Ashley informs her, “And I’ll raise your salary. Reluctantly…” Gloria breathes a sigh of relief. “What changed your mind, Ashley?” she asks. “I realized… well, I never thought I’d be saying this, but it turns out you may be of some use to me yet,” Ashley tells her. Gloria is pleased. “Well, I’m glad you’ve finally come around,” she remarks, “I have tons of ideas for Jabot that I am confident will…” “Forget that right now, Gloria,” Ashley demands, “This isn’t about Jabot.” “It isn’t?” Gloria asks, confused, “Then what is it about?” “It’s personal,” Ashley states, “I need you to tell me everything you know about Tom Fisher and Ryder Callahan.”

Scene 26

Neil and Alex continue their conversation at the Athletic Club. “Do you know how many times I’ve thought about calling you?” Alex asks, “But I just didn’t want to keep living in the past…” “Alex, stop for a minute,” Neil says, “Speaking of the past, there’s something you need to know. It’s about Malcolm.” “Neil, please,” Alex interrupts him, “I can’t deal with this right now. Malcolm is dead, and there’s nothing we can say or do to change that.” “No, you’re wrong, Alex,” Neil announces, “Malcolm’s alive.” Alex is shocked.

Next Time on The Young and The Restless

Kevin Fisher and Jana Hawkes Fisher arrive at the Coffee House, where Scott Grainger, Jr. is already waiting for them. Kevin approaches Scott. “I don’t know how I feel about you taking my wife out on a date,” Kevin says as a joke, but his insecurities show through.

Devon Hamilton and his girlfriend Roxanne Porter discuss Tyra Hamilton, a woman Devon once believed was his aunt. “Because if […] you think I can’t handle being in the same room as Tyra, I can,” Roxanne insists, “I’m over what happened between the two of you…”

Kevin and Katherine Chancellor Murphy talk in the living room of the Fishers’ Apartment. “Come work for me,” Katherine offers, ““Come work for me. How does Chief Information Officer at Chancellor Industries sound?”

Scene 1

Victor Newman sits at his desk in his office at Newman Enterprises. The phone rings. Victor picks it up: “Send them in,” he mumbles quickly, and then hangs up. His grandson Noah Newman and Noah’s girlfriend Eden Gerick enter the office. Victor turns to the door. “Thank you for coming,” he says, “Have a seat.” Both Noah and Eden look confused and uneasy about having been summoned by Victor. “Are… are we in trouble for something?” Noah stutters. “No,” Victor informs them, “not if you cooperate with me.” “Cooperate about what?” Noah inquires. “I know that you and Abby are close, and I realize that sometimes she might tell you things that she wouldn’t tell me or her mother,” Victor begins, “Now, if you knew something that was of concern to you, you would tell me about it, wouldn’t you?” Noah and Eden catch on to Victor’s line of questioning. “I think I know where this is going, Grandpa,” Noah announces, “and I really don’t wanna be put in the middle.” “Well, tough!” Victor responds harshly, “I’m not asking you to tell me because you’re her friend. I’m ordering you to tell me as her father and your grandfather. Let me spell it out for you: You tell me about Abby and her involvement with that no-good punk, Ryder Callahan.”

Scene 2

Victoria Newman goes to Crimson Lights Coffee House after her meeting with Roseanne Ryerson, the Guardian Ad Litem assigned to the custody case for her son, Reed Hellstrom. Her mother, Nikki Newman, happens to be at the Coffee House getting coffee. “Oh, honey!” Nikki gasps, “How did the meeting go?” Victoria looks sad. “I dunno, Mom,” she begins, “I don’t have a great feeling about it.” “Well, what do you think went wrong?” Nikki demands, “You didn’t say anything to upset the Guardian Ad Litem, did you?” Victoria shakes her head. “The Guardian Ad Litem is the problem,” Victoria states, “This Roseanne woman, she just really rubbed me the wrong way.” Nikki tries to rationalize the situation. “Well, honey, you resent her because of the situation you’re placed in and the power she has to decide who gets custody of Reed,” she deduces. “No, it’s more than that,” Victoria elaborates, “She was very condescending, ‘I’m here to represent the best interests of Reed,’ as if I don’t know what’s best for my own son.’ And you should have seen her, flaunting her degrees, Stanford, law school, some social work degree. Just because she’s book-smart does not give her the right to interfere in a private matter between a husband and a wife.” Nikki is sympathetic, but rightly concerned: “Honey, make sure she doesn’t pick up on those feelings,” she warns, “You don’t want it to influence her decision.” “I’m sure she already has,” Victoria confesses.

Scene 3

At the Fishers’ Apartment, Jana Hawkes Fisher is staring at the same wedding picture when her husband Kevin Fisher comes home. “I thought you were working at the Coffee House today,” Jana says. “I asked Ryder to cover for me,” Kevin informs her, “I’m sorry. I know I told you I’d give you some space, but I couldn’t stand the thought of you being here all alone.” “Well, I’m glad you’re here,” Jana tells him. “You are?” Kevin asks, a little surprised. “Yes. Because there’s, there’s something that’s been troubling me,” Jana admits, “Something that I wanted to bring up last night and then this morning, and I just couldn’t, but I can’t keep it in any longer.” Kevin is confused. “What is it?” he wants to know. “You’ve been hiding things from me,” Jana states matter-of-factly. “Hiding things from you?” Kevin tries to deny it, “What makes you say that?” He gets fidgety and starts pacing. “Kevin, you can stop pretending,” Jana tells him, “I know that I was in prison. Now, what I want to know is why.”

Scene 4

In the living room of the Chancellor Estate, business tycoon Tucker McCall prepares to pitch an idea to his mother, billionaire Katherine Chancellor Murphy. “A business proposition?” Katherine says with a laugh, “I’m not even back in charge of my company for a day and you are already jostling for position, trying to regain some control. Is that it?” “Is that what you really think of me?” Tucker asks, disappointed. “Well, I know that when it comes to getting what you want, you’re not afraid to play dirty,” Katherine states, “First, your little stock manoeuvre to take over Chancellor and then your strong arm tactics to get me to turn Jabot back over to you. It would hardly be out of character for you to take advantage of another opportunity like this.” “Despite what you think, the moves I made had nothing to do with the fact that you were my mother,” Tucker insists. “Or that you were hurt that I gave you up for adoption?” Katherine presses, still not buying his response. “Katherine, as I said, it’s nothing personal,” Tucker insists, “Those were strictly business decisions.” Katherine will not be fooled. “For you, my dear, the two are one and the same,” she realizes.

Scene 5

JT Hellstrom and Nikki run into each other on the patio of Crimson Lights Coffee House. They each take a moment to decide what to say. “JT…,” Nikki begins, “I heard from Victoria that the meeting didn’t go as well as expected.” “It went fine,” JT rebuts, “Victoria’s just being paranoid.” Nikki carefully calculates her response. “JT, I’ve always liked you,” she prefaces her speech, “But let me be loud and clear about this: I do not like what you’re doing to my daughter, and to my grandson. I think you’re wrong to keep a mother – a good mother – from her child. I mean, you could show Victoria just a little bit of mercy here. Maybe one day, you’ll need it in return.” “Let me be loud and clear,” JT replies, “I don’t need anything from the Newmans. And I never will.”

Scene 6

Inside Crimson Lights, Abby Carlton has just arrived and Ryder Callahan is working behind the counter. Her face lights up when she unexpectedly sees Ryder. “Hey! Are you working here again?” Abby inquires. “Not officially,” Ryder explains, “Kevin needed someone on short-notice so he asked me.” “That’s great that you two are starting to patch things up,” Abby comments, “That shows that he trusts you again.” “Yeah,” Ryder agrees. There is a moment of silence. “Um, about last night…,” Abby suddenly says. Ryder stops her. “Don’t worry about it,” he tells her, “And actually, I want to apologize. Maybe I gave you the wrong impression about us before. I should have been more clear right from the start about us only being friends. So can you put it behind you?” “Oh, yeah, totally. It’s fine,” Abby assures him, although she’s trying to assure herself just as much, “I mean, we’re better as friends anyway, right?” “Yeah,” Ryder agrees, “I’m glad you understand.”

Scene 7

In his office at Newman Enterprises, Victor continues his conversation about Abby and Ryder with Noah and Eden. “Michael Baldwin tells me that she’s been the one making all the moves, pursuing this punk,” Victor informs them, “That’s consistent with what you saw?” “Every time,” Noah states. “I don’t understand why she doesn’t see that he’s no good for her,” Victor says. “Believe me, I’ve warned her,” Noah states. “We both have,” Eden chimes in. “Well, it obviously didn’t do any good,” Victor states, “especially if you’re telling me that at the party yesterday, they kissed?” Victor attempts to confirm what’s been told to him. “More like, she kissed him,” Eden clarifies. “Yeah, outside of her bedroom,” Noah adds, “We followed them… after they snuck off from the rest of the party.” Victor is furious. “The nerve of her, to bring that loser into my home and carry on like that. I’m gonna put an end to it.” Noah wants to avoid any confrontation. “Grandpa, before you run off and make things worse, think about it for a minute,” Noah urges him, “I mean, yes, Abby definitely has a crush on Ryder, but I don’t think there’s actually anything going on between them…” Victor isn’t satisfied. “I’ll make sure it stays that way,” he announces.

Scene 8

Mackenzie Browning, owner of Jimmy’s Bar, is behind the bar counter cleaning glasses. Her back is turned to the door. “My my, I must say, pregnancy does agree with you,” a voice states. Mackenzie turns around. It’s Billy Abbott, her former fiancé and still good friend. Billy continues: “You know, you can really tell that you’re having twins, because that glow you have; you’re twice as beautiful as any pregnant woman I’ve ever seen.” “Thank you, Billy,” Mackenzie says with a slight smile, “Coming from you, considering how you felt about this pregnancy about the beginning… that was a very sweet thing to say.” “Well, you know, I’m a sweet guy,” Billy brags. “No, you’re a charmer,” Mackenzie corrects him. “Yeah… that too,” Billy laughs, “So when’re you gonna be poppin’ out these kids?” Mackenzie frowns. “…And the sweetness stops there,” she points out, but still answers the question, “Not for another couple months.” “That just means you’ll grow even more beautiful,” Billy quips, a huge grin on his face. “There, sweet Billy’s back,” Mackenzie says, before returning to the topic of the children, “On one hand, it seems like it’s taken forever… but on the other hand, it seems like the first seven months have really flown by. I mean, this is really happening. Cane and Lily… their babies are almost here.” “And then what?” Billy inquires. Mackenzie looks confused. “I don’t understand the question,” she states. Billy clarifies. “And then where does that leave you? Once the babies are born, I mean…,” he begins, “Did you ever think that maybe the reason you find it hard to believe the pregnancy is almost over is because you’re not ready to give up these kids?”

Scene 9

In the living room of the Chancellor Estate, Tucker is growing a little frustrated with Katherine’s lack of interest in his proposal. “So are you going to look over my proposal or not?” he asks directly. “What would be the point?” Katherine admits, “I doubt I’m interested.” “Humor me,” Tucker insists. Katherine gives in. “Alright, fine. You have my attention,” she tells Tucker as she takes a seat beside him and looks him in the eye. Tucker hands her a large file folders filled with numerous pages. Katherine flips through a few pages quickly. “What’s this?” she asks. “This, mother, is a blueprint for the future of both of our companies,” Tucker begins, “I call it Chancellor-McCall Industries, Unlimited…”

Scene 10

At Jimmy’s Bar, Billy and Mackenzie continue their conversation about the Ashby babies that Mackenzie is carrying. “No, of course I don’t want to keep the babies,” Mackenzie denies, “They are Lily and Cane’s. I have known that since I agreed to be their surrogate and absolutely nothing has changed.” “Well, actually, a lot has changed,” Billy corrects her, “Crocodile Dundee is back in Aussie Land, where he belongs… and Lily is gonna have to raise these babies alone.” “She’s not gonna be alone,” Mackenzie insists, “She’ll have Neil and your mom, and Olivia, Malcolm, and Devon and Roxy…” “…And you?” Billy finishes her sentence, repeating his earlier question. “No, I just told you, Lily has enough people to help her,” Mackenzie repeats. “So you can really just walk away?” Billy questions, still in disbelief. “The babies already have a mother,” Mackenzie states, “and my job is making sure she gets them safely. That’s it! Now, if you’ll excuse me, Billy, I’m meeting JT and Reed for dinner.” She walks away, leaving Billy at the bar. Billy grins. “Methinks I struck a nerve,” he mutters to himself.

Scene 11

At the Fishers’ Apartment, Kevin is stunned by Jana’s admission that she knows about being in prison. “Who told you that?” Kevin demands, “Was it Ryder, because I told him to stay away from you!” “It wasn’t Ryder,” Jana states. “Who, then?” Kevin wants to know, “My mom, Lauren?” Jana shakes her head. “No, it doesn’t matter,” she says, “The point is that I heard about it.” “Phyllis?” Kevin suddenly suggests. “I’m not gonna tell you,” Jana informs him, trying hard not to confirm his suspicion. Kevin picks up on the change in her tone. “It was Phyllis,” he realizes, “I know Daniel wouldn’t have told you. And she’s the only other person with a big mouth who was at the party… I saw you talking to her.” “Fine. Yes, it was Phyllis,” Jana relents, “But it was an honest mistake on her part… and I’m glad she told me.” “Jana, why would you be glad to know about that?” a confused Kevin inquires, “It was one of the worst times of our lives!” “So you still love me, even though I did something so horrible that I was in prison?” Jana asks suddenly. Kevin is surprised by the question. “Jana, how can you say that? Yes! I still love you,” he assures her, “I will always love you, Jana. No matter what… When you were in prison, that wasn’t your fault. But no matter how tough things got, we got through it. We were… we were happy together.” “Were we?” Jana seems to doubt Kevin. “Yes! We were,” he insists. “Or are you just giving me the version of things that you want me to remember?” Jana demands.

Scene 12

Victoria arrives at Billy’s trailer. Billy answers the door. “There she is, the Mrs.,” Billy announces, “I was wondering how long it would take you to show up here.” “I’m not in the mood!” Victoria lets him know. Billy doesn’t care. “Oh, sweetheart, did you have a hard day?” he says in a baby voice, “Let your loving husband make it all better.” “Stop saying that,” Victoria warns, “and unless you can guarantee that I’ll get joint custody of Reed, you can’t make it better.” “Sadly, I can’t do that,” Billy admits, “But you know, with Delia, usually a kiss is enough to cheer her up. Why don’t we try it?” Victoria plays along now. “I suppose it’s worth a try,” she says with a big smile. Billy kisses her on the hand. “How’s that?” he asks playfully. “I think I need a little more cheering up,” Victoria teases. “Oh, yeah?” Billy whispers, giving her a kiss on the cheek this time. “How much more?” he teases. “Maybe, just a little more,” Victoria tells him, holding up two fingers close together. “Like this?” Billy whispers as he gives her a kiss on the lips. Victoria kisses him back. “Perfect…,” she responds.

Scene 13

Noah and Eden arrive at the Coffee House, where Abby is sitting alone at a table watching Ryder working at the front counter. Abby doesn’t even notice them approaching. “You can take your eyes off of him for a couple minutes,” Noah says, as he takes a seat at the table. “He’s not gonna disappear.” “If only…,” Eden jokes. “Um, if you two are gonna get on my case again about Ryder, you can leave now,” Abby tells them, “I already have parents. I don’t need another set.” “I’m here to warn you,” Noah says outright. “Warn me about what?” Abby asks, confused. “I did something that you’re not gonna like,” Noah states. “Tell me!” Abby orders. “I told Grandpa about you and Ryder,” Noah admits. Abby is furious.

Scene 14

Katherine takes a second to consider Tucker’s proposal. She bursts out laughing. “McCall-Chancellor Industries Unlimited?” she chuckles, “What kind of mumbo jumbo is this?” “Actually, it’s Chancellor-McCall, not McCall-Chancellor,” Tucker corrects her. Katherine doesn’t care. “This is just another attempt to regain control of my company. My company!” she states. “I want to make it clear: this is a merger and not an acquisition this time,” Tucker elaborates, “Think about it, a merger of two equals, and what we could accomplish. Face it, Katherine, our two companies are better together than they are apart.”

Scene 15

At the Coffee House, Abby reacts to Noah and Eden’s admission that they told Victor about her and Ryder. “You did what?” Abby is shocked. “I can’t believe you would betray me like that!” “I didn’t want to tell him,” Noah defends himself, “but I did it to help you.” “Well, you didn’t help me, okay? You, you screwed everything up!” Abby scolds him, thinking of the time that Ryder and Noah caught Abby drinking underage at Trumble’s Book Store, “Wait -- did you tell him about the drinking too?” Noah shakes his head. “No, I left that part out,” Noah admits, “All I said was that you’ve got a thing for Ryder, and you kissed him yesterday.” Abby is surprised.

“What? You saw that?” she reacts, “Were you spying on us?” “You took off in the middle of the party,” Noah justifies. “We wanted to make sure you were okay,” Eden adds, not sounding sincere. “If you’d have seen the whole thing,” Abby remarks, “you’d know that there is no me and Ryder anyway. Well, not yet… He wants to just be friends.” “That’s good,” Noah says, “At least one of you is thinking clearly. Although I still wish you’d just ditch the guy altogether.” “No, this isn’t good!” Abby screeches, “It’s bad enough that Ryder rejects me. Now, I’m gonna be grounded for nothing. Because you know Dad will overreact.” Noah takes Victor’s side. “Actually, Abby, I think you should listen to him,” he tells her, “If everyone is telling you that Ryder is bad news, you should listen to them. You’re just causing your own problems.” “No, the problem is that everyone is still treating me like a child,” Abby counters, “Ryder, he just needs to see me as older and more mature. And then, I know he’d give us a chance.” Eden gets up from the table. “You’re leaving?” Noah asks. “Yeah, I’m sorry,” Eden apologizes, “Lauren is interviewing people for jobs at the Boutique this afternoon… and I told her I’d watch Fen. You stay here, and see if you can talk some sense into her…” She not-so-subtly jerks her head to point towards Abby. Abby ignores the last part of what Eden just said. “That’s it. That’s what I need,” she announces, “A job.”

Scene 16

Victoria snaps out of it. “No, I can’t do this right now!” she says, pulling away from Billy, “Do you realize that I lied to the Guardian Ad Litem today? If she finds out that you and I are married…” “She won’t,” Billy states calmly and confidently, “You won’t say anything; I won’t say anything. And as long as we’re the only two who know…” “Thank you for being so understanding,” Victoria says sincerely. “Hey, just want what’s best for my step-son,” Billy replies. “Please don’t call him that,” Victoria requests. “Well, I believe that’s what the current husband is supposed to call a son from a former marriage, Sweetheart,” Billy says with a grin, “And since I am your current husband…” “I just haven’t fully accepted yet that JT and I are with different people now, I guess,” Victoria admits, “and those people are gonna be spending time with Reed.”

Scene 17

Mackenzie is now at the Athletic Club for dinner. JT arrives with his son Reed Hellstrom. “Hey, you,” JT says. “Hey yourself,” Mackenzie replies, with a smile. She turns to Reed. “Reed! Give me a hug,” she says. Reed happily hugs her back. Suddenly, Mackenzie’s facial expression changes. She’s clearly excited about something.

“Wait! Feel that! The babies just kicked!” Mackenzie announces, as she grabs JT’s hand and puts it up to her stomach. JT’s face lights up as he feels the babies kicking. “Wow, look at that!” JT is amused, “That’s a strong little guy in there.” “Or girl,” Mackenzie adds, “We don’t know which one that is.” “Right,” JT replies. “I’ll be right back,” Mackenzie announces, “I have to call Lily and tell her!” “Sure, yeah, go ahead,” JT agrees. Mackenzie walks over to the lobby.

JT turns to Reed, who has been sitting quietly at the table. “Hey, you hungry, little man?” Reed has other things on his mind. “Is Mackenzie’s baby gonna be my brother or sister?” he asks quietly. JT isn’t sure how to respond. “No, buddy,” he says, and then goes on to explain: “You remember when we watched Dumbo and the stork delivered all the little baby animals to their mothers? Well, Mackenzie, she’s kinda like that bird. And the babies she’s having – she’s having twins – they’re gonna go to Lily and Cane. They’re good friends of ours. Mackenzie is just helping keep their babies safe until they’re ready to be delivered.”

Scene 18

Abby is at the front counter of Crimson Lights getting a refill from Ryder. “So when’s your break?” she asks. “Not for a while,” Ryder replies. “You deserve one,” Abby tells him, “I’ve been watching you, how hard you’ve been working. If you want, I could stick around…” As she’s saying that, Victor walks in and immediately notices Abby and Ryder together. He gives Ryder a glare. “Or not…,” Ryder completes her thought. “Yeah, I guess not,” Abby agrees.

Victor walks over to Abby and stands imposingly beside her. He ignores Ryder now. “Sweetheart,” He tries to begin nicely. Abby is in no mood for him. “I have to go, dad,” she announces “Have a seat!” Victor gets louder and motions towards a table, “We’re going to talk now.” Abby sighs. “Can we at least go out to the patio if you insist on doing this here?” she asks.

They walk outside to the patio of the Coffee House and take a seat at the table. “It seems that every time I see you lately, you’re hanging around with that low-life,” Victor informs her. “If you’d just let me explain,” Abby begins. “There’s nothing to explain,” Victor dismisses her, “There’s no logical explanation for what you’re doing. Your mother and I have raised you better than this, for heaven’s sake! For you to go parading around with this loser, it’s unacceptable. You should be embarrassed to be seen around with this kind of riff-raff.” Abby looks bored, like she’s not taking Victor seriously.

From inside the Coffee House, Ryder stands beside the patio door, trying to eavesdrop on Victor and Abby.

“…Are you just gonna lecture me, or are you gonna let me talk?” Abby finally says. Victor shuts her down again. “You don’t talk, you listen,” he orders, “What do you even know about this punk? I’ll tell you what I know about him… He is way older than you. He was just involved in a kidnapping of dear friends of ours, a kidnapping that could have easily turned to murder. And he conned you into helping him… bringing him supplies. You could have been charged as an accessory. Did you ever think about that?” “But I wasn’t charged as an accessory!” Abby protests, “And his family, they have forgiven him for all of that.” “Don’t you take that tone with me!” Victor yells. “Don’t you take that tone with me!” Abby retorts. “I am your father, and when you act like a child, I will talk to you how I wanna talk to you. Got it?” “You’re being unreasonable!” Abby fires back. “No you’re being childish,” Victor repeats, “You don’t want to see me be unreasonable; I promise you that!”

Scene 19

At the Chancellor Estate, Tucker and Katherine continue to discuss Tucker’s business proposition to merge McCall, Unlimited with Chancellor Industries. Tucker takes a sip of his drink. “Let me ask you a question: you ever heard of Occam’s Razor?” he inquires. Katherine isn’t sure where he’s going with the conversation. “Go on…,” she prompts him. “It means that all else being equal, the simplest explanation…” “Is the right one,” Katherine finishes his sentence. “Right. Now, which do you think is simpler?” Tucker asks her, “That I simply want to make both our companies more profitable? Or that I’ve concocted some complex scheme to pull the rug out from under you?” “It wouldn’t be the first time,” Katherine reminds him. “No, it wouldn’t,” Tucker admits, “But I’m giving you my word, this is no trick. Simple as that.” Katherine manages a small chuckle again. “I wish it were that simple,” she responds, “But there is nothing that is simple about you, Tucker McCall. Nothing at all…”

Scene 20

Back at the Athletic Club, JT sits alone at the dinner table. Mackenzie returns after calling Lily to tell her about the babies kicking. “There you are,” JT says, “What’d Lily say when you told her about the babies?” “She’s happy,” Mackenzie responds, “I wish I could have seen her face, though.” “We should pay her a visit soon,” JT suggests, “I’m sure she’d like that.” “Yeah, I’m sure she would,” Mackenzie agrees. “Where’s Reed?” she inquires. “Oh, Gina took him into the back to get some ice cream,” JT tells her. “Okay, well, that gives us a chance to talk,” Mackenzie states. “About?” JT asks. “You know what about,” Mackenzie replies, “How did it go this afternoon?” “It was fine,” JT replies, “You know, she wanted to know things like my parenting plan, the kind of schedule Reed is on. Just standard stuff. I got it all down.” “So you’re not concerned at all about what the decision will be?” JT shakes his head. “No,” he states confidently, “I mean. I know this sounds bad, but the judge has already ruled in my favor once. I have countless examples to support my claim that Victoria’s judgment has been off lately. Even if she fooled the Guardian Ad Litem today, she’s a Newman. They’ve always got family drama going on. And that means, she’s gonna slip up eventually. It’s not a matter of ‘if,’ it’s a matter of ‘when’.”

Scene 21

Billy and Victoria are at Billy’s trailer. Billy reveals a present that he had previously bought for Victoria. “What’s this for?” Victoria inquires. Billy answers her question with another question: “Does a man need a reason to spoil his wife?” he says, handing her the wrapped box. “Go on, open it.” “Boxer shorts,” Victoria notices. “They’re women’s. Green,” Billy points out. “I noticed,” Victoria responds sarcastically. “…To match my pair that you like so much,” Billy finishes. Victoria isn’t sure what to say, but she’s definitely amused. “That was thoughtful,” she says, “I don’t have anything to give you.” “Believe me, when I see you wearing those, that’ll be your gift to me,” Billy replies with a grin. Victoria takes the shorts out of the box and notices something stitched on the side. “What’s this?” she asks, as she reads what it says, “Mrs.” “I had them stitched to say that,” Billy announces, “Mine say ‘Mr.’ Do you wanna see?” Victoria just stares at him. “Well, we can’t exactly wear wedding rings,” Billy states the obvious. “That’s funny,” Victoria finally says. It’s not clear whether or not she’s being sarcastic. “I thought so,” Billy retorts. “Why don’t you go try them on?” Billy suggests, “Do you have anywhere you need to be?” “Right here,” Victoria replies, as she moves towards Billy and gives him a lustful kiss.

Scene 22

Victor and Abby continue their conversation out on the patio of the Coffee House. “I’m not getting through to you, am I?” Victor realizes. “You’re not even listening to how I feel,” Abby counters. Victor gets angry… and loud. “I don’t give a damn how you feel. I’m telling you how it’s gonna be. And you’ll listen to me!” he orders. “You’re making a scene,” Abby points out. “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet,” Victor warns, “You stay far away from Ryder Callahan. If I find out otherwise, they’ll be hell to pay.” “You can’t keep me away from Ryder!” Abby fires back. “Watch me,” Victor threatens, his eyes full of anger. He gets up and walks away, knowing that his rant did little to change Abby’s mind.

Scene 23

Tucker and Katherine continue to discuss Tucker’s business offer. “Look, you have control of the company now. I’m just making you a proposition,” Tucker explains, “You can pass on it, or…” She cuts him off. “I do pass on it,” she decides immediately. “…But just think about it before you do,” Tucker finishes. Katherine shakes her head. “I don’t need to think about it,” she states confidently, “My decision’s been made.” Tucker nods, apparently accepting her answer. “Just let me ask you one more question then, and then I’ll leave,” he tells her as he gets up from the couch. “Now who’s the one letting personal feelings get in the way of good business?” For once, Katherine is speechless. “I’ll show myself out,” Tucker announces as he walks out of the living room. Katherine still doesn’t reply.

Katherine walks over to the phone in the living room and dials a number. “Nikki, darling,” she greets her friend. “Katherine!” Nikki exclaims. “I’d like to see you,” Katherine tells her, “First thing tomorrow. Can you drop by again?” “Yes, gladly,” Nikki replies, “Is everything alright?” “I’ll see you tomorrow and I’ll explain it then,” Katherine says, “Good night, my friend.” “Good night Katherine,” Nikki repeats. She hangs up the phone, curious about Katherine’s phone call…

Scene 24

At the Fishers’ Apartment, Kevin and Jana continue their discussion of Jana’s amnesia. “You think I’m manipulating you by only trying to get you to remember certain things?” Kevin asks. “Yes! In fact, that’s exactly what I think,” Jana states. She elaborates: “Kevin, you can’t try to mould me into this perfect wife by controlling my memories. I want to… I need to remember the good… and the bad.” “Baby – Jana – I just wanted to spare you from having to relive all that pain,” Kevin explains. Jana understands. “I know, and I realize that your intentions were good, but it’s not your decision to make,” Jana tells him, “Now, please tell me why I was sent away to prison.” Kevin is still not sure what to do. He paces around for a few seconds. “Please, Kevin, I need to know,” Jana urges him again. “Okay!” Kevin gives in, “but promise me you’ll let me explain everything before you jump to conclusions. Jana nods. “I will,” she says softly. “Okay,” Kevin begins, “for starters: you murdered someone...” Jana has a horrified expression on her face.

Next Time on The Young and The Restless

Lauren Fenmore Baldwin is preparing a new clothing display at Fenmore’s Boutique, just before opening the store. There is a knock on the door. “We’re closed!” Lauren shots without looking up. She glances over, and sees through the semi-translucent glass, sees the silhouette of a young woman who clearly has long red hair. “Daisy?” Lauren calls out.

Victor Newman is in his ex-wife Ashley Abbott’s office telling her about their daughter Abby Carlton’s new crush. “Did you know she’s been spending a lot of time with this despicable Ryder Callahan fellow?” Victor asks.

Neil Winters is at the Athletic Club to pick up lunch. Alex Perez comes down the stairs and sees him standing by the take-out counter. She takes a moment to collect herself and then approaches him. “Neil?” Alex calls out. Neil turns around, not sure who to expect. His eyes widen. “Alex?!” he exclaims.
