Scene 1

Diane Jenkins stands at the doorway of the Abbott Manor. Her arrival catches Jack Abbott and his sister Ashley Abbott off-guard. Diane invites herself inside. “Am I interrupting something?” she asks, sensing tension in the air. Jack’s eyes are still a little watery. “This isn’t the best time,” he tries to say sensitively. “That’s putting it mildly,” Ashley adds, “Diane, I don’t think Jack is up for company right now.” “Well, you’re here,” Diane points out. “I’m family,” Ashley retorts. “Oh come on,” Diane says, “I’m practically family. Jack and I share a son together, or have you forgotten about your nephew Kyle?” “Don’t be ridiculous, Diane,” Ashley remarks, “Of course, I haven’t forgotten about Kyle.” “Ladies,” Jack interjects, “Ash, this is not helping.” “Okay… Jackie, I’m gonna head out. It looks like you two have some catching up to do,” Ashley states, “Will you be okay without me?” Jack nods his head, and Ashley gives him a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek. “Diane,” she acknowledges as she walks out the door. “Ashley,” Diane replies with a fake smile. Jack turns to Diane with suspicion. “Alright, Diane, what brings you to my neck of the woods?” he asks.

Scene 2

At the Baldwins’ Apartment, Michael Baldwin is presenting his wife Lauren Fenmore Baldwin with a surprise gift. “There’s someone who’d like to say hello to you,” Michael says, as he finishes setting up a webcam for Lauren on her new laptop. He turns on the webcam and Lauren sees her adult son, Scott Grainger, Jr., better known as ‘Scotty.’ “Scotty!” Lauren calls out excitedly. “Hey mom,” Scott greets Lauren, “It’s good to see you.”

Scene 3

At the Athletic Club, Neil Winters and his good friend Ashley are meeting for lunch. “So how is the new CEO of Jabot doing?” Neil asks. “I’m doing great,” Ashley proudly announces, “I feel like I’m back where I belong.” “Oh, yeah?” Neil replies, before getting straight to the point: “Tucker giving you any problems?” “No,” Ashley replies in a high-pitched voice, “Actually, he’s been really cooperative and supportive.” “Cooperative and supportive,” Neil repeats, in disbelief, “Now, those are two words you don’t normally hear associated with Tucker McCall…”

Scene 4

Tucker McCall sits at his desk in his home office, where he is talking on the phone to an unknown caller. “I want you to draw up the paperwork on the Castle Deal,” Tucker orders. The caller’s reply is unheard. “Mmhmm,” Tucker says, “as soon as possible.” The caller speaks again. “I know all about what happens tomorrow,” Tucker states, “You’ve done your part for now. I’ll handle it tomorrow, but once she agrees, I’ll need you take care of all the details.” The caller says something again. “Yeah, that’s right. I got some big things planned… that they’ll never see coming… Alright, thanks Alex. I’ll be in touch.” He hangs up and picks up the newspaper. The front page story has a large photo of Ashley with a headline that reads ‘Ashley Abbott, Daughter of Jabot Founder, Named New CEO of Jabot.’

Scene 5

At the Baldwins’ Apartment, Lauren continues to speak with her son Scott via webcam. Michael watches with satisfaction. “…Remember what we talked about,” Scott reminds her. “Just Scott now.” “Right,” Lauren nods, “That’ll take some getting used to. You’ll always be ‘Little Scotty’ to me.”

“Fen! Come say hi to your big brother,” Lauren calls. Their son, Fenmore Baldwin, runs into the living room and takes a seat in front of the webcam. “Hey buddy,” Scott greets him. “I wish you were really here, Scotty,” Fen says, sounding disappointed. “I wish he was here too, honey,” Lauren tells Fen. “Hey, I’ll be there… sooner than you think,” Scott assures them, “That reminds me, I wanna show you something… Stay right there.” He walks out of the webcam’s field of view. Lauren turns to Michael. “Michael, this video quality is amazing. It’s almost like Scott is right here in the room with us,” Lauren observes. Just as Lauren finishes speaking, Scott emerges from one of the side bedrooms. Lauren gasps, and runs over to hug her son.

Scene 6

At the Baldwins’ Apartment, Lauren is still in disbelief to have her son Scott home. “Look at you! You’re here. I can’t believe it!” Lauren gasps, “How did you --?” She tries to speak, but she is so surprised, the words won’t come out. “I flew in over night, “Scott explains, “It was Michael’s idea.” “Actually, it was Fenmore’s idea,” Michael corrects him, “He said to me one night, ‘Mommy’s home, but why isn’t Scott here?’ And the rest is history… I called Scott, he flew down, we set up a backdrop in Fenmore’s room to disguise where we were recording. Scott called to let me know he was at the door. I covered your eyes while Fenmore quietly let him inside...” “I really had no idea,” Lauren replies, flabbergasted and impressed. She hugs Fen, “Thank you, honey, for bringing Scott home to mommy.” She turns to Scott.

“We have so much catching up to do – Wait -- This is perfect!” Lauren realizes, “You’re just in time!” “Just in time for what?” Scott wonders. “Well, we were just on our way to the Newmans’ for a pool party. You’re coming along so we can catch up.” Scott is not convinced: “Mom, I don’t wanna just show up there uninvited.” “Oh, nonsense,” Lauren dismisses his concerns, “You’re family. Phyllis will understand.” “Besides, I don’t have my luggage with me,” Scott goes on, “I really don’t have anything to wear.” “Scott, I insist,” Lauren repeats, “Come on, we’ll stop at the boutique on the way and pick you up a swimsuit.” “You know better than to argue with this woman,” Michael chimes in, jokingly. “Yes, I do,” Scott admits, with a laugh, “Alright, fine, I’ll go.” “I’m so glad you’re home sweetie,” Lauren says, hugging Scott. Fen comes out of his room, ready to go. “You ready to go, buddy?” Michael asks. “Yeah!” Fen replies enthusiastically. “It’s been so long since I’ve had my three handsome men with me,” Lauren says, with one arm around Scott and one arm around Michael. Fen wraps himself around Lauren’s waist. A perfect family picture.

Scene 7

In the living room of the Abbott Manor, Jack explains to Diane what Patty did to Emily. “I knew Patty Williams was always a little nuts, but I had no idea she was this certifiably insane,” Diane remarks. “She was hurt by my engagement to Emily,” Jack defends Patty. “But still, to lock Emily in the psych ward and impersonate her for months…” Diane argues. “People do crazy things when they’re in love,” Jack states. “And when they’re obsessed,” Diane adds. “You know a bit about both, don’t you, Diane?” Jack comments with a sarcastic tone. “Jack, I have changed,” Diane insists, “I’m -- I’m an upstanding woman. Speaking of upstanding women -- where is Emily?” “Back in Minneapolis. It was just too much for her to take,” Jack admits, some of the sadness returning to his face. “She left you? Oh, Jack, you must be heartbroken,” Diane tries to comfort him. “Yeah, I haven’t taken it very well…,” Jack confesses, before changing the subject to their son: “Listen, where’s Kyle?” “Back in Vancouver. He’s staying at a friend’s house for a couple days,” Diane explains. “Well, why didn’t you bring him along? School’s out. You know I’d love to see him…,” Jack tells her. “This was an unexpected trip,” Diane says, “I had a meeting with a client in Chicago. I decided to stop in.” “Well, tell me what he’s up to,” Jack suggests, “I need some good news in my life right now.” Diane’s face shows that she’s hiding something. “…Diane?” Jack prompts her to speak. “That’s just it, Jack. There’s something you need to know about Kyle,” Diane warns him. “What is it?” Jack asks. “I’ll tell you about your son,” she begins, “but it won’t be good news…”

Scene 8

Nicholas Newman and his wife Phyllis Newman wait by the Newman Pool for their guests to arrive for the afternoon pool party. “I just wanted you to know, I invited Sharon here,” Nick informs his wife. Phyllis takes a deep breath. “She wanted you home just as much as I did,” Phyllis replies sincerely. “For Faith’s sake,” Nick adds. “For Faith’s sake, of course,” Phyllis repeats, and then softly, she says: “You know, this party is also about welcoming Noah back from Paris. Sharon should be part of the celebration.” “I’m glad you understand,” Nick tells her, “You know, maybe this is the start of a brand new relationship between the two of you. The way you put your heads together when I was in jail, I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for both of you. “Yeah, you know what? Me and Sharon working together” Phyllis begins, “I wouldn’t get too used to that…”

“Hello!” someone calls, interrupting their conversation. Nick and Phyllis turn to see the Baldwin gang – Michael, Lauren, Fen, and Scott. “Hey!” Phyllis shouts from across the pool. “We brought a guest,” Lauren states the obvious, “Hope you don’t mind.” “Oh, of course not!” Phyllis exclaims, “That’s great! So the illusive Scotty finally materializes…” “Actually, it’s just ‘Scott’ now,” Lauren corrects her, with a laugh, “We already had a conversation about that.” “Oh come on,” Phyllis laughs, “I think ‘Scotty’ sounds cute.” “Yeah, for a puppy,” Scott adds. “Well, I for one, don’t blame you,” Nick tells Scott, “I wouldn’t want someone calling me ‘Nicky.’” “See, he knows what he’s talking about,” Scott agrees. “Oh, honey, we’re only teasing,” Lauren explains. “Yeah, we’re just having fun,” Phyllis echoes, “In all seriousness though, welcome back to Genoa City.” “Yeah, good to have you here,” Nick says. “Thanks,” Scott replies.

“I’m gonna go inside and get Summer,” Nick tells Phyllis, “Be back in a minute.” He goes into the Main House. “Hey Fen, buddy, why don’t we go and toss that beach ball around?” Scott suggests. He and Fen leave the three “adults” to talk.

“So, wow! Scott’s home. You must be thrilled,” Phyllis says to Lauren. “Oh, I am thrilled alright,” Lauren replies, “You have no idea.” “You didn’t mention he was in town on the phone,” Phyllis points out. “She didn’t know,” Michael says. “Oh, he was your surprise!” Phyllis realizes, “That’s Michael – he thinks of everything, doesn’t he?” “He certainly does,” Lauren agrees, putting her arms around Michael.

Scene 9

Kevin Fisher, his wife Jana Hawkes Fisher, his mother Gloria Bardwell, and her boyfriend Jeffrey Bardwell all arrive at the Newman Pool, where Phyllis, Nick, Michael, and Lauren are standing around the pool, socializing. They all greet each other. “Phyllis, Nick, it was very kind of you to invite us. Thank you,” Gloria says. “Yes, thank you,” Kevin echoes, “My wife and I appreciate it very much.”

Scott, Fen, and Summer Newman, who were playing with a beach ball at the other end of the yard approach. “Hey dude! It’s been a while…,” Kevin says to Scott, “When did you get in?” “Just this morning,” Scott replies. “Oh… this is my wife, Jana,” Kevin introduces her, “and Jana, this is Scott. Lauren’s son.” “Nice to meet you,” Scott says with a smile, offering her his hand. “How do you do?” Jana greets him, shaking his hand. “And you remember my mother, right?” Kevin asks. Scott nods. “This is her… significant other,” Kevin pauses, not sure what to call Jeffrey, “Jeffrey Bardwell.” Scott and Jeffrey shake hands. “Very glad to have you back in Genoa City, Scott,” Gloria remarks, “We’ll have to have you over for dinner sometime.” “And by that, she means take-out,” Michael chimes in. A few people chuckle. “Hey, cooking isn’t everything, alright?” Phyllis defends Gloria, due to her own poor cooking skills, “just because a woman is a bit challenged in the cooking department doesn’t mean she doesn’t make up for it with other talents.” “That’s right…,” Gloria agrees, “It’s the thought that counts.” A few people chuckle. “Fen, sweetie, you like Grandma’s cooking, right?” Gloria asks Fen. Fen doesn’t answer.

“Come on, Fen,” Kevin suggests, “You don’t wanna listen to all this boring grown-up talk.” “Yeah, we got a game of catch to finish,” Scott announces. “I’m in,” Kevin agrees, “Jana, do you wanna come along?” “No, that’s alright,” Jana replies unenthusiastically, “I’ll stay here.” “Auntie Jana…” Fen says softly, “How come you don’t visit me anymore? I miss playing with you,” Fen admits, with a sad look on his face. Kevin intervenes. “Buddy, listen, your Auntie Jana loves you very much… but, do you remember when Mommy wasn’t herself but then she got all better?” Fen nods. “Well, Auntie Jana, she hurt her head,” Kevin continues, “and she hasn’t been herself lately, but she is gonna be back to her old self really soon, just like your mommy is, okay?” Fen nods. Scott, Fen, and Summer head back out to the other side of the pool. Jana calls Kevin to stay back for a moment.

“I’m close with him?” Jana inquires about Fen. “Yeah, you used to babysit him all the time when he was younger,” Kevin replies, “He misses that. You miss that too.” For the first time, Jana appears to have a sad look on her face.

Scene 10

Meanwhile, Gloria and Jeffrey are now at the snack table. “Look at all this free grub,” Jeffrey observes enthusiastically as he scoops a bunch of potato chips and raw vegetables onto a plate. “Forget that!” Gloria responds, “Take a look around. This pool area is bigger than our Penthouse, and did you see the stables on our way over here?” “Yeah, Victor Newman is really livin’ the life,” Jeffrey agrees. “Kinda makes you miss living at the Abbott’s, doesn’t it, Snookums?” Gloria asks, “You know what we need, Dearheart, is a mansion of our own. Someplace that we can call home, where Michael and Kevin feel welcome, and a big backyard where Fen can play…” Jeffrey shuts down the idea. “You know if we were to make a huge purchase like that, Jack would be on us to pay the Jabot settlement faster than you can say ‘tainted face cream.’” “Don’t you ever say those words again,” Gloria orders. “It’s true, Sweetcakes,” Jeffrey replies, “Face it. Thanks to your little corporate sabotage manoeuvre, we’re stuck in that Penthouse, whether we like it or not.” “Thanks to my corporate sabotage?” Gloria repeats, in disbelief, “Need I remind you, Jeffrey Bardwell, that the tainted cream was an accident. I never meant for it to get that out of control, and I managed to conceal myself just fine until you came along. If you didn’t turn me in to the police, none of this would be happening, and we would be able to spend our money and have the kind of home that we deserve.”

Scene 11

Noah Newman and his girlfriend Eden Gerick arrive at the Newman Pool. “Hey son, Eden,” Nick greets them. “Hi, Mr. Newman,” Eden replies. “Is mom coming?” Noah inquires. “I invited her,” Nick tells him, “She says she’ll pop in once she puts Faith down for the afternoon.” “I still can’t believe I have another little sister,” Noah admits, “I saw how crushed Mom was when she thought Faith died… I can’t believe Adam knew the whole time that she was alive. The guy turned out to be a maniac.” “Let’s not talk anymore about Adam,” Nick suggests, “He’s already taken enough from us. Let’s not ruin this party by giving him one more second of thought.”

Scene 12

Lauren and Scott sit around a picnic table by the pool, where they are talking about Scott’s life in Toronto. “I wanted to come down for Mother’s Day, but I was filling in for this teacher who was off with the flu for two weeks,” Scott explains. “That’s okay, honey,” Lauren tells him, “As long as you’re here now. How long are you planning on staying?” “I’m not sure,” Scott admits, “This trip was pretty spur of the moment.” “Are you seeing anyone?” Lauren abruptly asks, catching Scott off guard. “Mom!” Scott interjects, embarrassed by the question. “Well, are you?” Lauren presses. “I’ve gone out with a few girls casually,” Scott replies, “Nothing serious. I’ve been more focused on trying to get my career going, but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen quite yet. I was hoping I’d be offered a full-time position at the school where I supplied for that woman on maternity leave, but there weren’t any openings next year.” “I’m sorry to hear that, honey,” Lauren says sincerely, “On the other hand, call me selfish, but it sounds like you have nothing keeping you from staying in town a long time.”

Scene 13

Kevin swims over to the edge of the Newman swimming pool, where Jana is sitting in a lounge-chair. “You having a good time?” he asks her. Jana shrugs. “I feel like a stranger,” Jana admits. “We can go if you want,” Kevin suggests. “No, it’s alright,” Jana says, “You enjoy yourself.” “Water’s warm. Like a bath,” Kevin informs, “You wanna come in?” “I don’t think so. Not now,” Jana replies. Kevin is disappointed. “Alright, maybe later then?” he asks. “We’ll see,” Jana tells him, without much commitment in her voice.

Scene 14

Neil and Ashley are deep in conversation at the Athletic Club. “That’s gotta be pretty tough on Lily, Cane being deported,” Ashley states. “Yeah, I’ll tell you what? It’s not fair,” Neil begins, “Lily is finally cancer-free. I mean, she beat cancer and this is time that she deserves to have with her husband before their two beautiful babies are born. And Cane won’t be here to see that, or to support Lily, or to help her raise the twins.” “Well, you know, as heartbreaking as that is, there was a time when it was uncertain whether either parent would be in the babies’ lives,” Ashley states, “At least Lily will be there to care for them.” “Believe me, I am more thankful than anyone that my daughter has beaten her illness,” Neil states, “but these kids deserve to have their father in their lives too. And until they do, I’ll be there with Lily every step of the way to make sure she gets through it.” Ashley smirks at something, trying to hold back a laugh. “What?” Neil presses. “It won’t be long now, until I’ll be able to call you Grandpa,” she jokes. “Hey, that does not mean that I’m old,” Neil assures her. “I never said that. You’re putting words into my mouth…,” Ashley laughs. “But you know, it does make me reflect on things, and think ‘where have all the years gone?’” Neil confesses, “I mean, my baby is old enough to be having babies, and it seems like just yesterday I held her in my arms for the first time.” “Yeah, I know what you mean,” Ashley agrees, “I still can’t believe Abby’s 17… almost an adult. And sometimes, I feel like she’s growing up way too fast…”

Scene 15

In her bedroom at the Ranch, young Abby Carlton models a skimpy bikini in front of a full-length mirror. “Hello, Ryder,” she whispers aloud to herself, “How do I look?”

Scene 16

Scott sits at the edge of the Newman Pool. Jana approaches him. “Have we met?” she asks. Scott gives her a confused look. Jana laughs, and rephrases the question, “I mean, I know we just met… have we met before today?” “No, the last time I was in Genoa City was almost five years ago,” Scott confesses. “I’m sure a lot has changed since you’ve been here last,” Jana speculates. “You can say that again,” Scott replies, “It’s almost like I’m starting over. But that’s half the fun, you know? Rediscovering all the places and reconnecting with all the people that meant a lot to me the last time I was here. “Well, you know everything’s all new to me again too, but it’s not very fun for me,” Jana admits. “I have amnesia, you know.” “Yeah, I heard,” Scott says, sympathetically, “I’m sorry about that. It can’t be easy for you.” “No, it’s not…,” Jana begins, “I was thinking, though, you haven’t been here in a few years. I don’t remember being here. Maybe we can re-learn Genoa City together.”

Scene 17

Noah and Eden sit under the shade of an umbrella, sipping lemonade. “I love the water,” Eden confesses, “When I lived at the ashram, we would spend hours at the beach every day, soaking up the sun and playing in the waves.” “We’ll have another pool party soon – invite all the kids from school to get reacquainted with them,” Noah promises. “I’d like that,” Eden says.

Lost in conversation, Noah and Eden don’t notice someone approaching. It’s Abby, Noah’s good friend who also happens to be his aunt, even though they are the same age. “I guess I’ll be hanging out with you two for the day,” Abby announces, interrupting their conservation. Eden is less than enthusiastic: “Hooray,” she says sarcastically, trying unsuccessfully to disguise her feelings about Abby.

Scene 18

Michael joins his mother Gloria over at the refreshment table. “Gloria, you enjoying yourself?” he inquires. “It’s a gorgeous day for a party,” she responds, “I gotta tell you, I saw you and Lauren with Fen earlier. I have never seen a couple more perfect for one another. You don’t know how happy it makes me that you have her back… I just wish Kevin would have gotten the same happy ending.” “Who’s to say they won’t?” Michael tries to remain optimistic. “He’s still my baby… and I wish there was something I could do,” A teary-eyed Gloria confesses. “You can, Gloria,” Michael says, “Just be there for him… Like you were for Fen.” “Michael, you know how much I love that little boy,” Gloria states. “You know, something?” Michael begins, trying to find the right words, “You may have been a rotten mother and made a lot of mistakes with me and Kevin… but… you’re making up for them now. You’ve been a wonderful grandmother to Fenmore, and I just want you to know that.” Gloria is touched. “Thank you, Michael.” Jeffrey approaches. “Hey, Michael; listen, I’m glad everything worked out for you,” Jeffrey offers. “Thank you,” Michael says.

Scene 19

Victor Newman arrives at the Newman Pool, dressed in a business suit. “Hey dad! Glad you could stop by,” Nick gives him a hug. “Hi son,” Victor replies, “Unfortunately, I can’t stay, as I told you on the phone, but it looks like you’ve got quite a party going on here.” “Yeah, that’s my wife,” Nick says, “She knows how to plan a party, especially when she just came up with the idea this morning.” “She does indeed,” Victor agrees. “Where’s mom?” Nick inquires. “Your mother told Katherine she would go see her today. She’ll try to drop in here later.”

“Victor,” Michael greets him, “Aren’t you a little overdressed for the pool?” “Michael!” Victor turns around, “Good to see you. I’m on my way to a meeting. I just wanted to stop by, see how everyone was doing.” “I’m gonna go see Phyllis,” Nick tells them. “Alright,” Victor replies, “I’ll talk to you later, son, okay?” Nick walks away. Victor turns to Michael. “So how is Lauren holding up these days?” Victor asks. “About as well as can be expected,” Michael replies, “I can tell she’s trying to be strong and act like it’s not affecting her, but she is still haunted by Sarah. I mean, the woman stole her face, for God’s sakes. She tried to steal her family, take over her life. That’s not easy for her to deal with.” “Have you talked to her about seeing someone professionally?” Victor questions. “I’ve brought it up on several occasions. I thought maybe speaking to Emily would do Lauren some good, seeing as she went through the same thing with Patty,” Michael explains. “But she didn’t stick around long enough for that to happen, did she?” Victor replies. “Well, who can blame her?” Michael says. “Yeah,” Victor says quietly, “It’s just too bad that Lauren will be unable to benefit from her expertise, you know? But you let me know if there’s anything I can do to help, okay?” “Thanks, I will,” Michael agrees. “In these stressful times, it’s nice to have the pool to escape to when you need a break,” Victor adds, “You bring your family by anytime you like, alright?”

Scene 20

At the other side of the pool teens Noah, Eden, and Abby discuss Abby’s crush, Ryder Callahan. “Please tell me you were not expecting Ryder to be here,” Noah lectures Abby. “He’s Kevin’s brother,” Abby reminds Noah, “I just thought, maybe he’d come along with him.” “Yeah, because if my brother kidnapped my wife, I’d still want to hang out with him,” Noah says sarcastically. “He saved her!” Abby defends Ryder. “Only when she was practically on her death bed,” Eden interjects, “No, if you ask me, it was a little too late. He knew about what Sarah and Daisy were planning for months, years even, and he went along with it.” “He is a good person; he just got stuck with a screwed up family,” Abby says, “I know what that’s like. And I don’t care what you two think about Ryder, because I know what he’s really like, and that’s all that matters.”

Ryder Callahan arrives and Abby immediately notices. A big smile lights up her face.

Scene 21

Kevin greets Ryder. “Hey man!” He calls out, “Glad you could make it.” “Thanks for the invite, Kevin,” Ryder says, “I wasn’t sure if it would be okay.” “Of course it’s okay,” Lauren says from behind as she approaches the half-brothers. Phyllis is next to join them. “Um, Lauren, can I talk to you for a minute?” she asks, completely ignoring Ryder. “Sure,” Lauren replies. She turns to Kevin and Ryder: “Excuse us.” They walk a few steps.

“Did you invite him?” Phyllis whispers to Lauren. She’s obviously referring to Ryder. “Kevin did,” Lauren explains, “I told him it was okay. You said to invite the family… He’s Kevin’s brother and we’re trying to forgive him and move forward. I didn’t think there would be a problem. Is there?” “No… no problem at all,” Phyllis grits her teeth.

Scene 22

Ryder approaches Phyllis. “Mrs. Newman?” He tries to get her attention. “Oh, Ryder, hey! Glad you could make it!” Phyllis replies, sounding insincere, “and listen, Phyllis, please.” “Um, I just wanted to say, I know it couldn’t have been easy for you to invite me, after what my mother Sheila did,” Ryder begins, “Daniel getting arrested for Ray Elkin’s murder, and Sarah trying to kill you…” “Thanks for reminding me,” Phyllis says sarcastically, cutting him off. “Sorry, I just mean. In spite of what’s happened in the past, you still included me in this party, and I appreciate it,” Ryder thanks her sincerely. “Yeah, no problem… Listen. If Lauren says you’re okay, then you’re welcome here,” Phyllis tells him, before issuing a warning: “The Baldwins are good people, and they’re giving you a second chance. Don’t give them a reason to regret it.” “I won’t,” Ryder says confidently. “Good. Listen, the pool’s open and there’s snacks and refreshments set up over there,” Phyllis offers, “Help yourself.” “Thanks, I will,” Ryder replies.

Scene 23

In the living room of the Abbott Manor, Jack and Diane discuss their son Kyle. “Is it really that bad?” Jack asks, in disbelief of what Diane has been telling him. “Worse,” Diane replies, “Kyle is defiant, disrespectful. He has been skipping classes, staying out late, hanging out with the wrong crowd… I could go on and on. You know, his grades were at an all-time low this year. I’m dreading seeing his report card next week. I don’t know what happened.” “That doesn’t sound like Kyle at all,” Jack responds, in disbelief. “No, it doesn’t,” Diane agrees, “I am at my wit’s end. I don’t know what else to do.” “You bring him here,” Jack orders, “I wanna have a talk with him.” “No, Jack, you have enough problems…,” Diane protests. “No, I am Kyle’s father. You bring him here, as soon as possible and we’re gonna have a little talk.” “Believe me, I hope you can straighten him out,” Diane says optimistically. “I hope I can too,” a disillusioned Jack replies.

Scene 24

Abby approaches Ryder, who is at the side of the pool rubbing sunscreen on his arm. “Hey. Need some help with that?” she asks. “Sure…,” Ryder replies. He hands her the bottle of sunscreen, and she starts rubbing it on his back. “I would never wanna leave a place like this… I can’t believe you live here,” Ryder says, to make conversation. “Well, technically I live with my mom,” Abby corrects him, “But we live in my house. I own it, you know.” “You really have your own house?” Ryder asks in disbelief. “Actually, it’s a big mansion,” Abby brags, “It doesn’t have the stables or the pool, but it’ll do.” “It’ll do?” Ryder repeats, in a surprised tone, “You know you have it a lot better off than most people. I’d be happy just to have a real home.”

As Abby continues rubbing sunscreen on Ryder’s back, her father Victor watches with suspicion from across the pool.

Scene 25

Tucker stops in at the Athletic Club, where he runs into Ashley. “Big day tomorrow,” Ashley says. “Yeah, I suppose it was inevitable,” Tucker responds. “For the record, you’re doing the right thing,” Ashley assures him, “Katherine is Chancellor Industries. She deserves to have her company back.” “You know, when this deal goes through, I’ll still have Jabot,” Tucker reminds Ashley. “You know how I feel about that too,” Ashley counters, somewhat upset by his comment. “What’s that supposed to be mean?” Tucker inquires. “It means that you know how much my family has fought to regain control of our father’s company. Now, I may have accepted your offer to be Jabot’s CEO because it brings us one step closer to achieving that goal and carrying on our father’s legacy, but that doesn’t mean that I excuse your earlier behaviour. What you did to Katherine – to your own mother, my godmother – is reprehensible.” “It was a business decision,” Tucker insists. “Just like when you took Jabot back?” Ashley presses him, “No – you have had some secret agenda ever since you’ve come to Genoa City and it involves playing with the lives of my family and the people we love.” Tucker remains calm. “In time, you’ll see that I’m not like that,” he states. “I wouldn’t hold my breath,” Ashley replies harshly.

Neil returns to Ashley’s table. “Sorry about that,” he says to Ashley as he puts his cell phone away. He and Tucker acknowledge each other. Neil senses the tension in the air. “Everything alright?” “I was just leaving,” Tucker announces, “Ashley and I were just discussing tomorrow’s events... It’ll be a significant day for all of us, I’m sure.” Neil has a suspicious look on his face. “You enjoy the rest of your evening,” Tucker says as he walks away. Neither Neil nor Ashley says anything. “I just get such bad feelings from that guy,” Neil confesses, once they’re alone. Ashley agrees: “Mmmhmmm, I think you were right before… what you said about him being nice and supportive,” she begins, “I don’t buy it for a minute. No… Tucker is definitely up to something.”

Scene 26

At the Abbott Manor, Jack and Diane continue discussing their son Kyle’s recent behaviour. “Why didn’t you come to me sooner?” Jack demands, “No, forget it. It’s my fault. I should have been more involved. I should have known about this. I should have checked on him more.” Diane disagrees: “No, Jack, it’s not your fault. I was the one who was supposed to be raising him,” she admits, “and that’s why it was so hard to tell you. Because I didn’t want to admit that I failed him. I failed Kyle as a parent.” Jack comforts Diane. “Diane, listen to me. You’re not a failure. You’re a good mother,” he assures her. “Do you really think so?” Diane looks to Jack for reassurance. Jack hugs her. “Yes, I know so,” he says, “Kids – teenagers, they just go through these phases sometimes. Believe me, I know. But we’re gonna help him through it. Together.”

Scene 27

Elsewhere by the pool, Abby and Ryder continue talking. “You can come over again, if you want, when I’m here,” Abby suggests, “and you can visit me anytime at my other home.” “Yeah… sure,” Ryder agrees, sounding hesitant. Abby finishes rubbing sunscreen on Ryder’s back and moves in front of him. “Maybe, we can go swimming…,” she adds, “you know, just the two of us.” Ryder is unsure: “Do you think that’s a good id—woah, what are you doing?” She squeezes a large glob of sunscreen in both hands and then smears her hands across Ryder’s chest and down his stomach. Ryder is clearly uncomfortable with the situation; Abby is clearly enjoying herself. “What are you doing?” he asks again. “Putting sunscreen on you, like you asked me to,” Abby states nonchalantly. “I can finish the rest; thanks,” Ryder says, somewhat coldly, putting an immediate end to her obvious flirtation. He takes the bottle of sunscreen from her. “No problem,” Abby smiles cluelessly. Then she asks, “Is everything okay?” “Yeah… fine,” he says harshly. He walks away.

Scene 28

Ryder walks past Victor, and for a brief moment, they exchange glances. Victor’s eyes warn Ryder to stay away from Abby. Victor turns to Michael. “This is the young man who was involved in Lauren and Jana’s kidnapping?” he asks, already knowing the answer. “He also helped save their lives by giving them water and medicine, and tipping Kevin off about the zoo,” Michael attempts to defend Ryder, but Victor is not impressed. “I have to go,” Victor informs Michael, “but you keep an eye on them. I want to know how close my daughter is getting to this Ryder Callahan…”

Next Time on The Young and The Restless

In the hallway of the Main House on the Newman Ranch, Abby Carlton kisses Ryder Callahan on the lips.

At the Newman Pool, Jana Hawkes Fisher tells Scott Grainger, Jr., “The right woman for you is out there somewhere. You’ll find her. Maybe she’s right here in Genoa City…”

Phyllis Newman answers her cell phone. “Hello?” she says. The person on the other end hangs up. Phyllis hangs up too, a look of confusion and uneasiness on her face.
