Scene 1

At the Newman Pool, Noah Newman and his girlfriend Eden Gerick keep a close eye on Abby Carlton, who is keeping a close eye on the older Ryder Callahan. Abby openly watches Ryder lying back in a lounge chair by the pool. “She’s so obviously into him,” Eden informs Noah, “Look at her, practically drooling. It’s creepy… I mean he’s not bad looking or anything, but after all the things he did to both our families, I don’t know how anyone can trust him.” Noah gives Eden a look. “’He’s not bad looking?’” he mocks her, “What are you doing checking out other guys when you have me?” “I wasn’t checking him out,” Eden defends herself, “I was just saying, I can understand how a spoiled princess like Abby might be interested in someone like Ryder, despite all the things he did.” Noah listens to her defense, and then asks for reassurance: “…But he doesn’t compare to me though, right?” “Of course not,” Eden replies confidently, and then gives Noah a quick kiss.

Scene 2

Daniel Romalotti, Jr. arrives at the Newman Pool. “Hey, there’s my super-wonderful son!” Phyllis Newman calls out excitedly. She gives Daniel a hug. “Glad you could come.” “Well, let’s see,” Daniel begins, “pool party or empty studio? Pool party or empty studio…” He holds his hands out and moves them up and down, as if weighing out his options. “I see,” Phyllis says, “Not a hard choice, huh, between coming here or being surrounded by memories of…” Daniel cuts her off. “Don’t say her name,” he tells Phyllis, “I promised myself an Amb….” Daniel smirks, realizing he is the one who tripped up, “an Amber-free day.” “So much for that,” Phyllis laughs. “Yeah… so much for that…,” Daniel repeats. “Well, while we’re on the subject…,” Phyllis begins. Daniel scoffs. “Yeah, I can see you’re still not in the mood to talk,” Phyllis continues. “Not about Amber,” Daniel clarifies. “Look, Daniel,” Phyllis says, “It’s no secret that Amber and I didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things. But I really am sorry that you’re hurting right now. When you wanna talk about it…” “Yeah, I know,” Daniel nods, “You’re here.”

“Daniel!” someone calls from behind. Daniel turns around to see young Fenmore Baldwin and Summer Newman. “Hey! Guess what I brought?” Daniel teases, “Supersoakers!!” The kids cheer. “Why don’t you give me a bit of time with my mom and… Uncle Kevin,” Daniel says to them, “and then we can play later on, okay?” They nod. As Summer and Fen go back to the pool, Daniel turns to Phyllis: “Ironic, isn’t it? Kids were the reason my marriage broke up, and now they’re gonna get me through it…”

Scene 3

Poolside, Daniel and his best friend Kevin Fisher are catching up. “You came with Jana…,” Daniel notices, “That’s a good sign.” “Not really. She’s been keeping her distance from me the whole time,” Kevin explains, as he looks over at his wife, Jana Hawkes Fisher, sitting by herself beneath an umbrella, “and I don’t wanna crowd her, but I hate seeing her just sitting there… alone, doing nothing. I don’t even think she’s moved from that seat for the past half-hour.” “Do you think you should take her home?” Daniel wonders. “No, she insists on staying,” Kevin reveals, “which, I don’t know why. I mean, we’re supposed to be celebrating that she and Lauren are safe, and she won’t even talk to anyone.” ”On some level, just being here must be helping her to reconnect with family and friends,” Daniel speculates. “Hopefully,” Kevin mutters. “Only there’s one friend missing…,” Daniel points out, “Amber should be here too.”

Scene 4

In the living room of the Chancellor Estate, Katherine Chancellor Murphy speaks on the phone to her good friend Amber Moore Romalotti, who is calling from California. “Alright, you be safe, darling… I miss you too… I want to hear from you again soon. Okay, bye,” Katherine says as she hangs up the phone.

Katherine’s long-time maid and friend Esther Valentine enters the room. “Here you go, Mrs. C,” Esther says as she hands Katherine a cup of tea. “Thank you, dear,” Katherine replies. “That was Amber… on the phone, just now.” “Oh?” Esther replies, “How’s she doing?” “She’s just getting re-settled in LA,” Katherine explains, “She found a small apartment for herself and … Eric. She got a job as a waitress, and she’s been scouted by a talent agency. She might do some modeling and acting on the side.” “Wow, it sounds like Amber’s really landed on her two feet.” “Oh, I never doubted that she would. A lot of people have underestimated that girl, but not me,” Katherine admits, “I always knew she could do anything she put her mind to, and she’s proven me right. Tears well up in Katherine’s eyes. “I miss her so much, Esther,” she confesses. “I know what that’s like,” Esther agrees, “I miss my Katie,” she says, referring to her daughter Chloe, who is currently in Australia with her boyfriend Chance and her daughter Delia. “This house certainly has never been quieter,” Katherine observes, before turning more serious, “and lonelier…” “Now, if we could only get Jill to leave,” Esther jokes. Katherine laughs. “My dear, you know as well as I do, that’s not going to happen anytime soon,” Katherine answers. “Of course it won’t, Mrs. C,” Esther says, “I’m not that lucky.” “No, but you are very lucky, my dear,” Katherine tells Esther, “You have a beautiful daughter and a beautiful granddaughter who love you very much, and they’ll be home soon.” “I know…,” Esther agrees. “And you know,” Katherine continues, “Chance is very lucky that Chloe was willing to go with him to Australia… and that he didn’t have to lose her in order to spend time with his father… Amber… she had to give up Daniel in order to make sure Eric was safe, and that is a sacrifice no one should have to make.”

Scene 5

At the Newman Pool, Daniel and Kevin discuss Daniel’s wife, Amber. “I told myself I wouldn’t think about Amber today,” Daniel confesses again, “and there I go, bringing her up every chance I get.” “It’s okay, dude,” Kevin assures him, “No one expects you to just forget about Amber overnight.” Daniel stares blankly ahead. “Do you think she’s ever gonna come back?” He finally asks. Kevin is optimistic: “I never gave up on Jana when she was gone, and she came back,” Kevin says, “Maybe Amber will too.” “But Jana, she was taken and held against her will,” Daniel reminds Kevin, “Amber made the decision to leave on her own, knowing full-well how I felt about it.” “But if you still have feelings for her, dude, you can’t give up.” Daniel is unconvinced. “That doesn’t matter now,” Daniel states. He’s starting to accept that Amber is gone, “I guess Amber and I… we just weren’t meant to be…”

Scene 6

Esther re-enters the living room of the Chancellor Estate, where Katherine is still sitting on the couch and drinking tea. “Mrs. C…,” she says to alert Katherine to her presence and to the presence of a guest. The guest walks into the living room. It’s Katherine’s best friend Nikki Newman.

“Oh, how are you, Old Friend?” Katherine says, as she stands up to hug Nikki, “You must be so relieved now that Nicholas and Victor have been released from prison.” “Katherine, you have no idea,” Nikki tells her. “Please take a seat,” Katherine instructs, “So what brings you by, darling?” “Do I need a reason to come by?” Nikki says coyly, “Can’t I just want to catch up with a dear friend?” But Katherine gets the distinct feeling that Nikki needed someone to talk to. “Darling, this is me you’re talking to,” Katherine says knowingly, “Now something has obviously got you very troubled. Tell me what it is.”

Scene 7

Back at the Newman Pool, Ryder approaches Jana, who is still sitting alone underneath the umbrella. “Um… Jana,” Ryder says shyly. Jana looks up. “You’re Ryder; you’re Kevin’s brother,” she says aloud, trying to jog her memory. “If you don’t wanna see me or talk to me, I understand,” Ryder tells her. “Why wouldn’t I want to talk to you?” Jana asks, confused, “Kevin told me you helped save my life.” “But you don’t remember anything about what happened?” Ryder inquires, “You don’t remember Sarah and Daisy?” “Who are Sarah and Daisy?” Jana presses him for more. “Forget it,” Ryder stops himself, regretting what he already said, “I don’t want Kevin to be upset with me again.” “What did you do for Kevin to be upset with you?” Jana wants to know. “Can we please not talk about me and Kevin?” Ryder requests, “I came here to talk about you and Kevin: When you were – um, before your – look, before you lost your memory, all you could think about was getting back to Kevin,” Ryder explains, “and how much you missed him, and that you were worried he would think you didn’t love him anymore. But you did love him. You loved him very much, and I believe that deep down, you still do.” “How do you know all this?” Jana wonders aloud. “Jana, I think I’ve said too much already. I just wanted to help Kevin,” Ryder explains himself, “He’s been so good to me, even though I….” “Even though you what?” Jana asks. Ryder avoids the question. “Just, please, you have to believe what I’m telling you about Kevin and how much you loved him.” “I don’t remember anything about you,” Jana confesses, “So you have a clean slate... I have no reason not to believe you.”

“Excuse us,” Kevin says, having overheard the tail-end of Ryder’s conversation with Jana. Kevin grabs Ryder’s arm and pulls him away from Jana. “Dude, what the hell did you tell her?” Kevin demands. Ryder has a guilty look on his face. “I told her that she loves you,” Ryder begins, “and I kind-of mentioned Sarah and Daisy.” “You what!?” Kevin reacts. “I didn’t mean to!” Ryder defends himself, “It was an accident.” “Ryder, I told you before I didn’t want you to talk to Jana about any of this. She doesn’t even know she was kidnapped. I just told her she had an aneurism.” “I was just trying to help,” Ryder explains, a sad look on his face. “I know,” Kevin understands, “but don’t.”

Scene 8

Ryder returns to the lounge chair by the edge of the pool. Abby swims over to him. “This is a pool party, you know, and you have yet to get in the pool,” she points out. “It’s hard for me to have fun when I see what I did to them,” Ryder tells her, glancing over at Jana sitting alone under the umbrella. Kevin approaches her.

“Are you having a good time?” he asks Jana. “The weather’s nice… for a pool party, I mean,” Jana replies, somewhat avoiding the question. “Well, are you hungry?” Kevin inquires, “Do you want me to bring you anything?” “No, thanks, I’m not hungry,” Jana states. “Are you sure you don’t wanna go swimming?” Kevin asks next, still trying to be optimistic that she’ll change her mind. “I’m sure,” Jana replies confidently again. “Do you wanna do anything with me?” Kevin asks, with a bit of an attitude, “Sorry; that came out wrong.” “I’m just not in the mood, Kevin,” Jana repeats, “I’m sorry that you can’t understand that.” She gets up and walks away. Kevin kicks himself for saying the wrong things again: “Damn it.”

Ryder notices Kevin’s frustration. “I screwed up… big time,” he tells Abby, as he leans over the pool, “I just wanted to tell Jana how much she loves Kevin, but I said something I shouldn’t have.” “I think it’s sweet that you wanted to help, but you have to stop punishing yourself,” Abby says. She splashes water on Ryder a few times. “Now come on, get in. I promise, you’ll forget about all your troubles.” Suddenly, she pops up out of the water and grabs Ryder’s arm, pulling him into the pool.

Scene 9

Elsewhere by the pool, Jana approaches Phyllis. “Um, were we close?” Jana inquires abruptly. Phyllis is unsure how to respond. “We had some fun times in prison together,” she says sarcastically, “I’m sure that’s a time you’re glad you don’t remember.” “I was in prison?” Jana reacts, stunned, “For what?” Phyllis regrets what she said. “I probably shouldn’t have been the one to tell you this,” Phyllis replies, “I think you should ask Kevin.” “I’m asking you… please,” Jana pleads, “Kevin would never tell me about something like that. He’d be too worried about protecting my feelings and upholding his image of me as his perfect wife.” Phyllis still doesn’t answer. “Please, Phyllis,” Jana begs, “Is there anything you can tell me?” “Here’s what I can tell you,” Phyllis decides, “You’re good friends with my son, Daniel. He’s best friends with Kevin. Do you remember him?” “Just what Kevin’s told me,” Jana replies, “which apparently is only the things he wants me to remember.”

Scene 10

At the other side of the pool, Scott Grainger, Jr. and Daniel are both getting food from the snack table. “Hey man, it’s good seeing you again,” Daniel says. “Yeah, you too,” Scott agrees. He tries to make conversation. “So it looks like we’re the only two bachelors here,” Scott points out, looking around at all the couples around them, “I mean, even Fen has Summer to keep him company.” “Yeah, they’re lucky,” Daniel states, “They’re still at the age where guys and girls can be just friends. You know, it’s so much simpler that way. A few more years and things’ll get way more complicated… Dating, marriage, children. And someone always winds up getting hurt.” “Hey, I’ll take my chances,” Scott remarks with a laugh, “It’s been a while since I’ve been goin’ steady with anyone.” “I don’t think I’m ever ‘going steady’ with anyone ever again,” Daniel replies. He sounds serious, “I’ll tell ya, brother. Two marriages dead by the time I’m 23. If that isn’t some kind of record… The first time, with Lily, was my fault; I was young and immature, and I made a lot of mistakes. The second time – her name was Amber and she was and is the girl of my dreams – I mean, I’m still young and immature, but I thought we had a real chance of making it. I guess love just wasn’t enough.” “Man, I’m sorry it worked out that way. That’s rough,” Scott sympathizes, “Hey listen – if you ever wanna shoot some hoops or go out for a drink, you know, for some guy talk, let me know.” “Yeah, you know what?” Daniel says, “Kevin has been so focused on Jana lately, we haven’t really had a chance to hang out much. But yeah, I need to find somethin’ to take my mind off of Amber.” “Cool, just let me know when,” Scott replies, “As long as I’m still flying solo, I got nothing but time on my hands.”

“Hey, seriously, man, don’t let my screwed up love life discourage you,” Daniel offers, “If you’re ready to meet someone, then go for it. Maybe you’ll have better luck than me.” “I gotta admit, when my mom told me about this pool party,” Scott begins, “I was kinda hoping there’d be some single women here.” “And instead you’re stuck talkin’ to me,” Daniel jokes. “No, I just mean, when I think of pool parties, I think of girls in bikinis, and the only girl in our age group is Jana,” Scott points out. “Yeah… and she’s off-limits,” Daniel states. Jana has overheard the tail-end of Scott and Daniel’s conversation. She approaches Scott. “Don’t worry, Scott. The right woman for you is out there somewhere,” she assures him. “You’ll find her. You never know: maybe she’s right here in Genoa City…”

Scene 11

Abby and Ryder are in the pool together. “I think you’re right,” Ryder begins, “This water is relaxing.” “See, I told you,” Abby boasts, “You should listen to me more often.” “I’ll try to remember that”, Ryder says. “Hey, I got an idea,” Abby suggests abruptly, counting on Ryder listening to her again, “Why don’t I give you a private tour of the Ranch. It’ll be fun… And no one’ll notice if we disappear for a while.” “But if they do…,” Ryder protests. “Who cares? We’re not doing anything wrong,” Abby insists. Ryder scratches his head. “Okay, sure,” he decides. “Great,” Abby smiles a mischievous smile. They hop out of the pool and grab towels to dry themselves off.

Noah and Eden are at the other end of the pool together. Noah notices that Abby and Ryder are no longer out at the pool area. “Where did Abby and Ryder take off to?” he wonders aloud. “Who cares?” Eden replies, “We’ve already warned her about him. If she’s too stupid to listen, that’s her own fault.” Noah shakes his head. “I can’t let her make a mistake like that,” he decides, “I mean, getting involved with that creep, it’s the worst thing she could do.” “You’re not her babysitter,” Eden reminds him, “and you’re not her parent.” “No, but I’m her friend,” Noah says with conviction, “Come on, let’s go find them.” Eden scoffs. They swim over to the edge of the pool and hop out.

Scene 12

Sharon Newman stops in at the party. Her former husband Nick greets her. “Sharon – hey,” Nick says. “Hey, Nick,” Sharon says, “It’s really a beautiful day, isn’t it? “Yeah, it sure is,” Nick replies, “How’s Faith?” “I just put her down for the afternoon,” Sharon tells Nick, “You should have seen her this morning. She had the cutest little smile...” “That’s my girl,” Nick interrupts. “…Reminds me a lot of Noah when he was that age,” Sharon finishes.

“Speaking of Noah – is he here?” Sharon inquires. “Yeah, he should be around here, somewhere…,” Nick replies, as he glances around to look for Noah. “If you see him…,” Sharon begins. Nick nods. “Yeah, I’ll tell him that you’re looking for him,” Nick completes her thought. “Thanks,” Sharon says with a smile.

Scene 13

Lauren takes a seat beside Jana under the umbrella by the Newman Pool. “What are you up to?” Lauren inquires. “I’m just observing,” Jana says softly as she stares blankly ahead, “Trying to figure it all out.” “How are you doing, sweetie, really?” Lauren asks. Jana turns her head so that she’s now facing Lauren. “I don’t mean to be rude, but I wish everyone would stop asking me how I am,” she replies. “I’m sorry,” Lauren apologizes, “I know it must be overwhelming having to constantly explain yourself to everyone.” Jana nods. “It’s not only that, but I don’t know how I am… because I don’t know who I am… I mean, I don’t know how the old Jana would feel right now, what she would be doing. Would she go swimming, or would she work on her suntan? What would she eat? Yeah, that’s right. I don’t even remember what kind of foods I like.” Lauren is sympathetic. “Honey, you keep talking about the old Jana like she’s someone completely different,” Lauren states, “You are still the same kind, beautiful, unique person that you always were. You just have to rediscover yourself. And it might help to talk to someone.” Lauren grabs Jana’s hand and looks into her eyes. “Tell me what you’re feeling,” Lauren says kindly. Jana sighs. “I feel so lost, Lauren,” she finally admits, “I just, I feel like I’m surrounded by a sea of people who are supposed to be my friends, and yet I wouldn’t know them from any stranger on the street. But even though I don’t remember you, I also feel… I feel that I can trust you.” “Of course you can,” Lauren reassures Jana, “And if there are ever things that you’re afraid to tell Kevin, you can come to me, okay? I want you to remember that.”

Scene 14

In the living room of the Chancellor Estate, Katherine and Nikki continue their conversation. “…And get this -- they’ve appointed some woman -- a ‘Guardian Ad Litem’-- to make a recommendation to the judge as to who should be granted custody of Reed,” Nikki complains, “She’ll be interviewing Victoria and JT tomorrow about their parenting. Then, later on, she’ll be watching them individually as they spend time with Reed.” “Watching them?” Katherine is confused, “You mean, to evaluate them? Nikki nods. “Yes,” she says, “Can you imagine how degrading that must feel to have your parenting skills scrutinized and judged like that? It’s absurd…” “Well, maybe this is Victoria’s best chance at joint custody,” Katherine offers, “The judge will see unbiased evidence that Victoria is an excellent mother and that there’s no reason to keep her away from her son.” “Well, I certainly hope that’s how it works out,” Nikki agrees, “but for Victoria to have to go through that stress, to be subjected to that kind of investigation, it never should have come to that in the first place.”

Scene 15

Lauren, Scott, and Kevin are standing around drinking lemonade by the pool. “Honey, where are you staying?” Lauren inquires. “I haven’t really thought ahead,” Scott admits. “I wish we could offer you the other bedroom,” Lauren admits, “but Michael’s sister, Eden, just got back from Paris.” “And I’d let you crash at our place…,” Kevin says, “if I wasn’t staying in the guest room…” “Yeah, that’s no problem. Thanks, but I don’t want to impose myself on either of you,” Scott tells them. “Honey, it’s no imposition. You’re my son,” Lauren assures him, “Now, you can stay with Michael and me, if you don’t mind staying on the couch. If you’d rather have more privacy, I’m getting you a room at the Athletic Club, and I don’t want to hear anymore about it.”

Scene 16

At the Newman Pool, Daniel is crouched down at the hose filling up water balloons. Summer and Fen hover around him eagerly. “I want a pink one,” Summer tells her big brother. “You want a pink one?” Daniel repeats, as he reaches for the bag of balloons and rummages through it, “Let’s see what we can do.” He grabs a pink balloon and fills it up for Summer.

Fen picks up a large water balloon from the pile that Daniel is creating and smashes it on the ground, splashing water on Daniel and Summer. “Buddy, don’t waste the big ones,” Daniel tells him nicely, “Those are for later.” Daniel piles a few more water balloons together. “You two ready?” He asks Summer and Fen, “Let’s go have some fun!” They all enthusiastically grab water balloons. Daniel starts to chase Summer and Fen, who team up against him and both throw water balloons in his direction.

Sharon watches from the sidelines and is somehow comforted by the sight of their seemingly carefree life.

Scene 17

Michael and Lauren are lying together on a floating seat in the Newman Pool. “I can’t think of the last time I’ve been in a pool,” Lauren admits, “We should do this more often.” “Well, I can make that happen,” Michael tells her, “Victor has offered us the pool anytime we want it.” “That sounds wonderful,” Lauren smiles, “I don’t want this moment to end.” “Take a look around us,” Michael begins, “Look at this water. It’s calm, peaceful. That’s the way our lives are gonna be form now on. You see, our troubles are behind us, Lauren. It’s smooth sailing from now on, I promise you.”

Scene 18

Sharon approaches Daniel at the refreshment table. “Hi Daniel,” she says politely. “Hey… Sharon,” Daniel replies. “Nice day for a party,” Sharon tries to make conversation. “Yeah, I’m havin’ a great time,” Daniel tells her. “Have you seen Noah?” Sharon asks him. “Not for a while,” Daniel informs her as he pours himself a glass of lemonade. “You want something to drink?” he asks. “Sure, some lemonade would be nice,” Sharon replies. Daniel pours her a glass and hands it to her. Sharon thanks him. Daniel chugs the entire glass down. “Refreshing,” he says with a smile, after taking the last gulp. Sharon smiles back. “Yeah, kids can really wear you out sometimes, huh?” she says knowingly. Daniel smirks. “Um, I was watching you earlier with Summer and Fen,” Sharon confesses, “You’re gonna make a great father someday.” Daniel chuckles. “Sometime… a long time from now. Maybe,” he responds. “Oh, yeah, absolutely!” Sharon assures him, “I didn’t mean to imply right now. I mean, I know you and Amber -- I’m sorry – I shouldn’t have brought that up.” “It’s fine,” Daniel tells her, “Amber and I – we just wanted two different things...”

Suddenly, Fen jumps in between Daniel and Sharon and starts squirting Daniel with his super soaker. “Hey, no fair!” Daniel yells, jokingly, “I wasn’t ready, buddy! But now I am!” Daniel quickly grabs his super soaker, which he had set down on the refreshment table. He chases after Fen.

Scene 19

Nick and Michael are talking at the side of the pool when Kevin approaches them. “Mikey; Nick,” he greets them. “Hi Kevin,” Nick says, “How’s your wife doin’?” “Physically, she’s fine,” Kevin explains, “But emotionally, she is scared out of her mind. She has no idea who she was, and I know she just feels lost.” “I know what that’s like,” Nick confesses, “I was just telling your brother, when the Newman Jet crashed, I had amnesia, and I didn’t remember my life with Phyllis for months. And I had to fall in love with my wife, and learn what a beautiful, amazing woman she is all over again. But then my memory came back, and I remembered how much I loved her before the accident too. And you know what? I loved her even more than I did before because of what we had to overcome to keep our marriage alive. Our relationship and our love grew even stronger because she stuck with me through it all.” “Nick’s right,” Michael adds, “You have to keep believing that this is only temporary, and that you and Jana will make it out alive.” “Yeah,” Kevin says, still sounding a little unconvinced, “Jana, she just needs a little more time.”

Scene 20

Ryder and Abby continue their tour of the grounds of The Ranch. “And the Tack House is where Nick and Phyllis live?” Ryder inquires. “Yeah,” Abby confirms, “How did you know that?” “I have to confess something,” Ryder begins, “I gave myself a bit of an unguided tour of the grounds when I got here. That’s okay, right?” “Oh yeah, that’s no problem,” Abby replies, “Well come on, I guess if you’ve already seen the grounds, I’ll give you a tour of the Main House.”

Scene 21

At the Newman Pool, Daniel, Fen, Summer, Kevin, and Scott continue playing with super soakers and water balloons.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Bardwell joins Gloria Bardwell at the refreshment table. Gloria pours a glass of lemonade. She has a smirk on her face. “Alright, spill it…,” Jeffrey orders, “and not the drink…” Gloria is amused. “Spill what, Honeydew?” she teases. “You know what I’m talking about,” Jeffrey says, “I can see the wheels turning in that diabolical little mind of yours. Now tell me what you’re up to.” “I’m not up to anything,” Gloria denies, “I’m just enjoying the beautiful summer breeze, the warm water, and the hot sun.” A water balloon flies past Gloria as Fen and Kevin run around her and Jeffrey. “Hey! Watch where you’re throwing them things!” she calls out. She turns back to Jeffrey. “You deny it all you want, Buttercup,” Jeffrey says, “But I’ll be watching you…”

“Woah, head’s up!” Daniel calls from across the pool as another water balloon comes zooming towards Kevin, Fen, Gloria, and Jeffrey. “What?” Gloria calls as she turns around to look. The water balloon slams into her chest, bursting and splashing water all over her. Gloria lets out a scream! Several of the spectators giggle, including Jeffrey.

Kevin unsuccessfully tries to contain his laughter. “Mom!” He says with a laugh, “Are you okay?” “Don’t you start too,” Gloria warns Kevin as she wipes her face, “It’s not funny.” “Come on, mom,” Kevin insists, “It was a little funny.”

Daniel runs over to Gloria, whose makeup now looks like a mess. “Gloria, I am so sorry,” he apologizes, keeping a straight face. Gloria keeps her composure. “It’s okay, Daniel,” she says calmly, “Accidents happen. Just like this one…” Gloria grabs Fen’s super soaker off the table and squirts both Kevin and Daniel.

Scene 22

Nikki finally arrives at the Newman Pool in the early evening. It’s already getting dark. “Hello, hello,” she greets her son Nick and his wife Phyllis. “Hi mom,” Nick says as he gives her a quick kiss on the cheek, “I was wondering when you’d get here.” “Katherine and I had a lot of catching up to do,” Nikki responds. She looks around at all the guests, some in the pool, some still playing with super soakers, others talking under the umbrella or at the snack/refreshment table. “It has truly been forever since we’ve done this,” she realizes, “Seeing all these people here, it reminds me how much fun we used to have here… it’s too bad your father and Victoria couldn’t make it.” “Next time,” Nick says. “Yeah, I think we should do this again soon,” Nikki agrees, “Well, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go mingle.” “Okay, bye,” Phyllis says with a smile.

Nick and Phyllis take a few steps over to the picnic table. Phyllis takes a seat in Nick’s lap. “Listen, why don’t we ask your mom if she can take Summer for the night,” Phyllis suggests, “and we can have a nice quiet evening together at home?” Nick grins. “I like the way you think,” he replies, giving her a quick kiss.

Phyllis’ cell phone, which is setting on the picnic table, begins to ring. She picks up: “Hello…” Like the phone call she received earlier that morning, there is no answer. “Hello?” Phyllis says again. The person on the other end hangs up. Phyllis hangs up too, a look of confusion and uneasiness on her face. “What is it?” Nick asks. “That’s strange,” she says softly, “That’s the second time that’s happened today…”

Scene 23

Gloria rejoins Jeffrey after her impromptu super soaker battle with Kevin and Daniel. “You look like a drowned rat,” Jeffrey jokes. “It’s a good look for you.” “Shut up, Jeffrey,” Gloria says harshly, not in the mood for his humor, “You, you could have tried to deflect it, or something.” Jeffrey smirks. “At least you had some cushioning to soften the blow,” he continues with a laugh, “Maybe the welt won’t be so bad. And maybe this was a sign for you, to tell me what you’re planning. Don’t keep me out of the loop, Sweetcakes, cause I’ll find out one way or the other.” Gloria abruptly pushes Jeffrey, and he falls backwards into the swimming pool. This time, Gloria is the one who laughs. “Now who’s the drowned rat, Lover Man?” she teases.

Scene 24

Abby continues to give Ryder a tour of the Main House. They stop to talk in the hallway. “You’re lucky you had me here, ‘cause there’s some parts of the Ranch that you wouldn’t have been able to see without me…,” she points out before suggesting, “That’s my room there. Why don’t we go inside?” “Your dad wouldn’t like that,” Ryder states, trying to think logically, “He gave me a look earlier. I’m sure he doesn’t want you around me.” Abby ignores him. “I’m sure he wouldn’t want me to kiss you either,” she states. Before Ryder can reply, she kisses him on the lips unexpectedly. He pulls away. “Did I do something wrong?” a confused Abby asks. Ryder tries to turn her down politely. “Look, Abby. We can’t do this,” he begins, “I mean, I just told you, people have been staring at us all day and I don’t want them, or you to get the wrong idea.” “What do you mean?” Abby asks, still oblivious. “I like you, but only as a friend, okay?” Ryder tells her, “I hung out with you today cause you’re the only person I really know here, but you’re underage.” “It’s not like I’m a little girl – I’m 17,” Abby protests, “I’ll be 18 in a few months.” Ryder doesn’t care. “Abby, you’ve been flirting with me all afternoon,” he states, “I’m flattered that you’re interested, really I am, but you’re still too young for me. Now, if you still wanna be friends, we can be friends, but you have to understand that’s as far as it goes.” “Yes, of course I want to be friends,” Abby replies, “You’re the only one who understands me, remember? I don’t want to lose that.” Ryder nods. “Okay, see you around then?” he says as he starts to walk away. “Yeah… see you around…,” Abby replies, with an obvious disappointed look on her face. Noah and Eden, peaking around the wall into the hallway, witness the exchange.

Scene 25

Back at the Fishers’ Apartment, Jana holds a framed wedding picture taken at the ashram. Kevin notices Jana staring at the picture. “Are you remembering something?” he asks. “No, sorry,” Jana replies, “I was just admiring the scenery… Looks like an absolutely magical place.” “It was,” Kevin agrees, “…because you were there.” Jana continues to stare at the picture. She finally speaks: “I did love you very much… I can tell from the picture,” she admits, “And I know I said I wanted to take it slow, and not overdo it, but everyone tells me we had this incredible love story. We overcame so many odds to get where we’re at, and I can see how much it’s killing you that I don’t remember that.” “I know it’s not your fault,” Kevin assures his wife, “I know that you’re not trying to hurt me. I know that you didn’t ask for any of this.” “No, I didn’t,” Jana agrees, “But I also know that I haven’t been trying hard enough to remember.” “You’ve just been overwhelmed,” Kevin tries to be understanding and supportive, “being in an unfamiliar place with all these unfamiliar people, myself included, crowding around you.” “But this isn’t an unfamiliar place, or it shouldn’t be,” Jana realizes, “This was – this is, our home. And I want to remember that.” “You don’t know how much that means to me…,” Kevin says, with tears welling up in his eyes. “Can I give you a hug?” “Yes,” Jana replies, smiling for maybe the first time.

Scene 26

That night, Nick and Phyllis are kissing passionately in their bedroom doorway. Their bedroom light is off. They continue kissing as they move towards the bed. Phyllis stops for a moment and sniffs the air. “Do you smell that?” she asks Nick, having detected a slightly rancid smell. “Chlorine?” Nick asks, unsure of what she means. “No… it’s something else,” Phyllis replies. Nick kisses her again, and Phyllis grabs the comforter and pulls it down so they can get into bed. Phyllis falls backwards onto the bed, still oblivious to what is about to come. Nick turns on the lamp on the nightstand. Phyllis turns her head, and then she sees it: lying right in the middle of the bed is a large, slimy black eel. Dead. Phyllis screams.

Next Time on The Young and The Restless

Malcolm Winters runs into his brother Neil Winters at the Coffee House. “Malcolm, I don’t have time for you right now,” Neil tells him, “See, unlike you, I actually have a career and I have commitments that I keep.” “Wow, why don’t you tell me how you really feel?” Malcolm says bitterly.

In the Newman Enterprises break room, Phyllis Newman tells Michael Baldwin about the dead eel in her bed. “Ryder – he was at the pool party,” she realizes.

JT Hellstrom and Victoria Newman are meeting with a blonde woman. “My name is Roseanne Ryerson, and I’m the Guardian Ad Litem assigned to your case,” she announces.
