Scene 1

It’s a new day in Genoa City. Nikki Newman is playing the piano at the Main House of the Newman Ranch. Her significant other, Victor Newman, walks into the living room, just about to finish a business conversation. “Kindly have that sent over to the office by the end of the day,” Victor tells the caller before hanging up the phone and joining Nikki.

“Good morning,” Victor greets her with a kiss on the cheek, “I haven’t heard you play in a while. It’s nice to hear that again.” “I thought that I should enjoy it while I still have the time to play,” Nikki answers. “Well, what’s going to occupy your time so much that you won’t be able to play?” Victor inquires. “Katherine offered me a job at Chancellor,” Nikki announces. Victor is unsure how to reply. “Hmm,” he says, without giving away his opinion. “You’re surprised,” Nikki observes. “I didn’t realize that you were interested in getting back into business,” Victor responds, “That’s all.” “Katherine asked me because she trusts me and she knows that I can do this,” Nikki defends the decision, “I don’t want this to be a point of contention between us. I know my career aspirations have been, how shall I put this… difficult for you to accept, in the past. But I’m not asking your permission, Victor. What I could use is your support, but I have a feeling that that’s a little too much to ask for, isn’t it?”

Scene 2

At the Athletic Club, Katherine Chancellor Murphy, who recently returned to her position as Chairwoman of the Chancellor Industries Board of Directors, meets with Neil Winters, CEO of Chancellor Industries. “So you’re okay with bringing Jill and Nikki on board?” Katherine inquires. “I wasn’t aware that Jill gave you her answer yet,” Neil states, somewhat avoiding the question. “She hasn’t,” Katherine admits, “But I know my daughter and she’ll come around. Sooner than later, I expect… And there’s one more thing you need to know. I’ve asked Kevin about taking over as our CIO.” “And what was his response?” Neil asks. He’s obviously not enthusiastic. “The timing is obviously not ideal for him,” Katherine responds, “He needs some time to talk it over with Jana.” “I just wish you would have spoken to me first,” Neil says, before pausing for a moment, “Katherine, let me ask you something… Do you trust my business instincts?” “Of course, I do!” Katherine replies with conviction, “Don’t you ever question that… I know, I wouldn’t normally tell you who to hire, but after Tucker’s newest power-play, it became obvious that I need to have people who are like my own family working for me. People who I know I can always count on. I include you in that, Neil Winters, and I have every intention of keeping you on as CEO of Chancellor Industries.” “I appreciate that, Katherine,” Neil tells her, “You’re just catching me off-guard a bit here with your announcements, that’s all.”

Suddenly, Tucker McCall approaches Neil and Katherine’s table. “I thought I’d be hearing from you by now,” he tells Katherine.

Scene 3

Phyllis Newman arrives at Crimson Lights, looking angry and irritated. Ryder Callahan is behind the counter. He looks up to see Phyllis. “Phyllis, hi, what can I get you?” he greets her. Phyllis gets right to the point: “On the way to my pool party, you made a little detour, didn’t you?” she demands. Ryder is visibly confused. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he states. Phyllis gets louder. “Yes, you do!” she insists, “Admit it. You came back to Genoa City for a purpose. Your little game of revenge wasn’t done yet, was it? You broke into my house, and you put… you put a dead eel in my bed, didn’t you? That’s why you got to the party so late, isn’t it?” “A dead what?” Ryder asks, not catching everything Phyllis said. “Eel. A dead eel,” Phyllis answers, “And don’t pretend like you don’t know what I’m talking about. I know you’re responsible for it.” “Phyllis, I promise you, I did not put a dead eel in your bed,” Ryder insists, almost not taking her seriously, “I have nothing against you. Why would I do thar?”

Phyllis slaps Ryder across the face. Hard. “No, you did that to me! You admit that you did that to me!” she yells, grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer to her. “After everything Michael and Lauren and Kevin did for you, we invite you to a party for family and friends, we give you a chance, and this is how you repay us!”

Meanwhile, Malcolm Winters enters the Coffee House and witnesses the altercation between Phyllis and Ryder. “Hey! Hey! Hey! That’s enough!” Malcolm yells as he runs over to Phyllis to hold her back. “What’s going on here?” he asks Ryder. Ryder’s face is stinging. “Take her out of here,” he tells Malcolm, without answering the question. “Yeah… I think that’s a good idea,” Malcolm says, “Come on, Phyllis. Let’s go.” Phyllis reluctantly leaves the Coffee House with Malcolm.

Outside, Malcolm stops Phyllis for a moment. “What’d he do, give you a cold coffee?” Malcolm jokes. Phyllis gives him a look that says she’s not in the mood. “Did he spill it?” Malcolm continues, not taking a hint. “What?” Phyllis asks. “Did he spill your coffee?” Malcolm repeats. “No, he didn’t spill my coffee!” Phyllis answers, “Can we just, can we not talk about it please?” “Sure. But whatever it was that he did, you can’t just attack him like that,” Malcolm tells her. “He had it coming,” Phyllis replies. She feels no remorse. She walks ahead.

Scene 4

At Trumble’s Book Store, JT Hellstrom, his young son Reed Hellstrom, and his girlfriend Mackenzie Browning are browsing through children’s books. “How about this one, Buddy?” JT suggests as he hands a children’s book to his son. Reed flips through a few pages. “Wow, that looks like a wonderful story. Look at all those pictures,” Mackenzie says to Reed, “Look at the little boy in that picture right there. He looks just like you.” “Yeah, I wish they had cool books like this when I was your age,” JT adds. Reed happens to look over to the end of the aisle just as his mother Victoria Newman is walking by.

“Mommy!” Reed calls out excitedly upon seeing her. Victoria hadn’t noticed them until Reed called for her. She turns her head and sees her son. “Hi, Baby!” Victoria shouts back as Reed runs into her arms, “Hi! This is such a pleasant surprise to see you here. Oh, I’ve missed you so much!” “I’ve missed you too,” Reed says quietly, not wanting to let Victoria go. Victoria stands back up while Reed continues to cling to her. JT and Mackenzie walk over to them.

“Hi, Victoria,” JT says cordially. “Hi,” Victoria says back, “Um, why don’t you give me a few minutes alone with my son?” “Yeah, sure… we can do that,” JT agrees, “Mac and I will be over by the magazines, alright?” When they leave, Victoria turns back to Reed. “Pick out a book that you want and Mommy will read it to you next time you come over,” she instructs. “Daddy already picked this one,” Reed says, showing Victoria a book, “but it’s for my ‘Other Mommy’ to read to me.” Victoria’s face feels like it’s on fire. She fights to hold back tears and keep her composure. Her son just referred to Mackenzie as his other mother…

Scene 5

At the Athletic Club, Tucker takes one last opportunity to convince Katherine (and Neil) to agree to the merger. “Katherine, think of how much better prepared we’d be to go up against Newman Enterprises,” Tucker informs her, “We can save billions over the next few years by eliminating jobs, allowing us to achieve growth while cutting costs at the same time… This is the only way to get bigger, better, and make more profits.” “See, the question is, though, Tucker,” Neil steps in, “What are you trying to accomplish here? Do you want this merger because it’s best for both companies, or because you’re trying to rebuild your empire?” Katherine doesn’t allow Tucker to answer. “Neil, would you excuse us for a few minutes?” she requests, It seems Tucker and I need to have a heart-to-heart.”

Scene 6

Back at the Newman Ranch, Victor and Nikki continue their conversation. Nikki senses that Victor is not happy she accepted a job with Katherine. “To be perfectly honest, I don’t have time to worry whether or not you’re working for Katherine, alright?” he tells her, “I have more important things to deal with.” Nikki is taken aback. “Such as?” she asks, raising her eyebrows. “I’ve just recently found out that Abby has taken a rather serious interest in this Ryder Callahan loser who was involved in kidnapping Lauren and Jana,” Victor informs her. “An interest?” Nikki questions, “What does that mean?” “If she had her way, they’d be dating,” Victor says matter-of-factly. “And obviously, you don’t agree with that,” Nikki deduces. “You do?” Victor asks, stunned. “No, of course not!” Nikki shouts, “But I just think, you need to handle this more delicately than you have a tendency to… Does Ashley know?”

“She does, and well, we’ve grounded Abby for the foreseeable future,” Victor explains, “Except for this new job of her’s – she got a job working in sales at Fenmore’s, you know -- she can’t leave the house. She can’t see her friends. And she can’t talk on the phone until she agrees that Ryder Callahan is bad news.” “See, now that seems a little harsh, though, don’t you think?” Nikki asks, “Grounded for the foreseeable future? Because she happens to like someone that you don’t…” “Because she has to learn that her foolish choices have consequences,” Victor replies sternly. “I’m just saying, your relationships with your children tend to be up and down,” Nikki states, with the best of intentions, “Now, fortunately, right now, you have a strong relationship with Victoria, Nicholas, and Abby. I’d hate to see you do anything to jeopardize that with Abby or alienate her further… especially when this crush on Ryder is probably just a phase that will pass as soon as she meets another cute boy.” Victor scoffs, but doesn’t say anything. Nikki grabs his arm and continues speaking, “And Victor, you have to realize that Abby’s 17. It won’t be long now until she’s 18, and then she’ll be old enough to make her own decisions.” “I don’t care how old she is,” Victor answers, “I will always want to protect my daughter. And I’ve made it very clear to Ryder that he better stay away from Abby… And he will listen… if he knows what’s good for him…”

Scene 7

Ryder is at the front counter of Crimson Lights. His cheek is red where Phyllis slapped him. He makes a call on his cell phone. There’s no answer. “Abby, hey, it’s Ryder,” he says, “Listen, call me… or better yet, come see me when you get this. I’m at the Coffee House…”

Scene 8

Once Neil leaves Katherine’s table at the Athletic Club, Katherine turns back to Tucker. She gives him an all-knowing look. “Tell me again, Tucker. Why are you here?” Katherine inquires, “Why are you really here?” Tucker sticks to his story: “I told you, because I’ve realized what we could accomplish if we were united, mother and son, working together instead of against one another.” “Ah! Stop right there,” Katherine says, reacting to what Tucker just told her, “Say that last part again.” Tucker is a little confused. “We could accomplish more if we worked together instead of against one another,” he repeats, slightly rephrasing his answer. Katherine notices his omission. “I heard that part,” Katherine tells him, “but the part that you’re conveniently forgetting about is when you called us ‘mother and son.’” “I did say that, didn’t I?” Tucker realizes. “Yes, you did,” Katherine answers. “So that leads me back to my question: why are you really here? You just gave me my company back. If you were looking for redemption after stealing it away from me, you had it. You had it, but now you come to me with this offer to merge our companies, and you tell me, once again, it’s a business decision. But something tells me that once again, you’re hiding behind your business suit to disguise some ulterior motive, some personal agenda that you have. And my instincts are telling me that you’re using this so-called merger to give you some excuse to be close to your mother… because you think that she’ll turn you away, reject you all over again.”

Tucker remains stoic, taking in everything that Katherine just said. “And what makes you such an expert on me all of a sudden?” he finally says, instead of addressing any of her comments. “I’ve been around a lot longer than you have,” Katherine replies, “I gave birth to you, remember?” “That doesn’t mean that you know me,” Tucker quickly assures her. Katherine leans forward. “I look into your eyes,” she begins, “and I see the eyes of a person who’s still hurting, who still feels abandoned.” Tucker isn’t sure what to say. “And would you?” he mutters. “Would I what?” Katherine asks. “Abandon me all over again?” Tucker clarifies, “…If I told you that I wanted a relationship.” He takes a deep breath, relieved that he was able to actually say it. Katherine is touched. “Would I abandon…,” Katherine scoffs at the idea, “No, my dear, I’d tell you how fortunate I feel that you could forgive me, and I’d want to give you a big hug…” Tucker is a bit uncomfortable. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” he says. “Alright, then you tell me exactly what you want from me, and let’s take it from there,” Katherine suggests. “You told me, when you got Chancellor back, you’d owe me dinner,” Tucker recalls, “Maybe, we could start with that.” “Dinner would be nice,” Katherine agrees. Both of them smile at each other.

Scene 9

Outside of Trumble’s Book Store, Victoria approaches Reed, JT, and Mackenzie. She has a book in her hand. “Here, I wanna give you this,” she says, before carefully calculating her next words: “It’s for Daddy and Mackenzie to read you tonight.” She hands Reed the book. “Here, Buddy, let Daddy take a look at that,” JT offers. Reed gives the book to JT, who proceeds to read the title aloud. “‘Are You My Mother?’ by Dr. Seuss. That’s great, Victoria,” JT says sarcastically, trying not to let his anger show, “Reed, say ‘thank you’ to Mommy.” Reed obeys. “Thank you,” he tells Victoria. Victoria gets down on her knees and gives him a hug. “That’s so no matter how far apart we are you always remember who your mother is,” she explains. JT looks furious but fights to keep his composure. “Buddy, you stay here with Mackenzie, okay?” he tells Reed, “I need to talk to Mommy for a minute.” Mackenzie grabs Reed’s hand.

JT and Victoria take a couple paces away. JT tries to keep his voice down, but his tone is harsh. “What the hell was that?” he asks, “Are you trying to manipulate our son?” Victoria looks over at Mackenzie holding Reed’s hand. “The way I see it, by allowing Reed to spend so much time with her, you are the one who is manipulating our son!” Victoria argues, “To cut me out of his life!” JT scoffs. “That’s ridiculous, Victoria,” he insists. “Is it?” Victoria retorts, “He called Mackenzie his ‘Other Mommy!’” JT softens. “What!? When?” he demands. “Just right now…,” Victoria answers, “When I was talking to him alone.” “Victoria, I didn’t know,” JT defends himself, “I’ve never heard him say that before.” Victoria becomes angry again. “This is all your fault!” she shouts, “This is exactly what I told you would happen if you kept letting Reed spend time with her.” “Victoria don’t start blaming me,” JT warns, “Look, this is a hard time for everybody involved. We knew it would be especially hard on Reed because it’s a transition for him to not have you living with us. Luckily, we’ve caught on to his confusion early, so let’s just sit down with him, and have a talk -- explain to him that we are still his parents and we will always love him and be there for him no matter what.”

Scene 10

Malcolm arrives at the Athletic Club with Phyllis. “I’m gonna head over to the gym,” Phyllis informs him, “Thanks for the talk.” “Anytime,” Malcolm replies. She gives him a quick hug, and then heads off for the gym.

Malcolm takes a seat at the bar. Neil walks over to his half-brother. “Malcolm!” he calls out, kind-of in a whisper. “I’m really not interested in what you have to say,” Malcolm tells Neil, “Unless you’re here to apologize for the things you said last time we saw each other.” “No such luck, Malcolm,” Neil says, “I’m here to give you a warning…” Malcolm rolls his eyes. “I’ve heard it all before. ‘Stay away from Lily. Don’t ruin her life,’” he mocks Neil, “It’s the same thing with you over and over, Neil. You’re like a broken record.” “Really? Well, I got a new tune for you so listen up,” Neil orders, “You’ll be getting a visit from your new neighbor soon… Alex Perez is back in Genoa City…” Neil walks away. Malcolm sits at the bar, looking both surprised and confused.

Scene 11

Victor is at the Athletic Club gym vigorously punching the punching bag. Phyllis walks in. She’s about to go over to the tread mill when she notices Victor. She approaches him instead. “You punch that thing any harder, you might put a hole right through it,” Phyllis jokes. Victor stops punching the bag and turns around.

“Phyllis, this is a surprise,” he responds, as he wipes his forehead, “I’ve gotta stay strong and active since the transplant, you know?” “Yeah, definitely. I hear you,” Phyllis agrees, “It’s important to take care of yourself.” She looks around the room. She seems anxious. “Everything okay? You seem a little stressed out,” Victor notices. “That’s why I’m here. To work off my stress,” Phyllis answers, “I can say the same thing for you. The way you were going after that punching bag, something must be bothering you too… is it Victoria’s custody case?” she inquires. “No, it’s something else. Someone else, actually,” Victor replies, “Tell me, why was Ryder Callahan at my pool? Who invited him?” “Let me tell you, Victor… that was a big misunderstanding for him to be there,” Phyllis says, “And a big mistake.” “You got that right,” Victor agrees, “I heard about what happened, and I’ll tell you, I’m utterly disgusted by it.” “Nick told you…?” Phyllis asks, a little surprised. “No, Michael Baldwin,” Victor tells her. “He did?” Phyllis responds, even more surprised that Michael, her best friend, would tell Victor something that happened to her. “Yeah, Abby’s my daughter. I asked him to keep watch over her that day,” Victor clarifies. Phyllis realizes that the disgusting incident Victor is talking about is actually Abby and Ryder at the pool, rather than the dead eel being found in her bed. “Oh, you’re talking about Abby and Ryder… together?” Phyllis replies, “Yeah, I can see how you’d have a problem with that.” Victor is slightly confused. “Well, what’re you talking about?” he wants to know, “What did Ryder Callahan do to you?”

Scene 12

Nikki arrives at the Athletic Club and approaches Katherine’s table. Katherine stands up. “Oh, Nikki, darling. Thank you for meeting me,” Katherine says. They hug quickly. “Of course,” Nikki responds. They sit down at the table.

“So… I told Victor about my new job,” Nikki announces. “And… how did he take it?” Katherine inquires. “I could tell he wasn’t exactly thrilled,” Nikki says, “but he said he can’t concern himself with what I’m doing at the moment.” “That doesn’t sound like Victor,” Katherine responds, slightly confused. “No, it doesn’t. But he’s been under a lot of stress lately. We all have,” Nikki explains, “After Victor and the kids were arrested, the hit that Newman Enterprises took due to the negative publicity… Then, there’s Victoria’s custody battle, and now, Victor finds out that Abby is interested in and pursuing an older man, one who’s out of college and has done some very bad things recently to people we know… Sorry, I’m rambling.” “Oh, so what?” Katherine replies, “Darling, you can’t keep things bottled inside or you’ll go insane.” “Yeah, so I guess you can see why this job has come at the perfect time for me,” Nikki says, “It’ll give me something new and positive to focus on...”

Nikki eyes Tucker, who is sitting across the room at the bar. “I see Mr. McCall over there,” she points out. “Oh, yes, he was already over here campaigning again for our merger,” Katherine informs her friend, “I mean, he is right on one thing though. In this age of uncertainly we’re living in, mergers are becoming more and more common. Reducing overlap is one way to reduce costs and improve efficiency.” “Katherine, do you realize what you’re saying to me?” Nikki asks abruptly. Katherine is tongue-tied for a moment. “I’m just…,” she stammers. “You’re considering the offer,” Nikki states. “No,” Katherine denies. “Yes, you are. Katherine, I’ve just heard from you why you should do it,” Nikki tells her friend, “I haven’t heard any reasons why you shouldn’t.” Katherine considers Nikki’s point. “Damn him!” she exclaims, “Damn Tucker McCall… for making me realize that I’m doing the same thing I accused him of doing. Letting personal feelings get in the way of a good business decision.”

Scene 13

JT and Reed have left Trumble’s Book Store. Mackenzie stays behind to speak to Victoria. She approaches her. “Victoria,” Mackenzie tries to get her attention. “What do you want?” Victoria responds harshly. Mackenzie remains calm and diplomatic. “I just want you to know that I’m not a threat to you,” Mackenzie says. “I know you want me to believe that,” Victoria tells her, “But I think you secretly enjoy having JT and Reed all to yourself.” “Your insecurities are not doing anyone a favor,” Mackenzie scolds Victoria, “especially Reed.” “Don’t you dare tell me what’s best for my son!” Victoria fires back, “You think you’re building this perfect little life with JT and my son, that you can all be a family together. But you’re deluding yourself if you think that fantasy will ever come true.” “Let me remind you that JT and I have a long history together,” Mackenzie shares, “We were happy together, and I was pregnant with his child long before he ever dreamed of being with you.” “You know, everyone might be buying this Saint act of yours, but I certainly don’t,” Victoria responds harshly, “You’re really lucky that you’re pregnant right now, ‘cause if you weren’t, I’d slap that smile off your face.”

“Ms. Newman!?” a voice calls out in a judgmental tone, “What’s going on here?” Victoria and Mackenzie turn to see Roseanne Ryerson, the Guardian Ad Litem in Reed’s custody case. She witnessed the whole argument.

Scene 14

Alex Perez returns to her former fiancé Malcolm’s room at the Athletic Club. She knocks on the door, as she had done the previous night. This time, she gets an answer. For the first time in eight years, Alex and Malcolm come face to face. They stare silently at each other for a few moments. “Alex…,” Malcolm finally mutters. “Hi Malcolm,” Alex responds shyly.

Scene 15

In the Athletic Club gym, Victor reacts to Phyllis’s story about finding a dead eel in her and Nick’s bed. “Are you serious or what?” he asks, in disgust. “I am very serious. Ryder broke into our house and put a dead eel into our bed,” Phyllis insists, “Michael thinks it’s revenge for my involvement in Sheila Carter’s death and because I survived Sarah’s attempt to kill me.” “I don’t care why he did it,” Victor retorts, “I’ve warned that bastard to stay away from my family.” Victor prepares to leave. “Wait! Victor, where are you going?” Phyllis calls out. “To take care of Ryder Callahan permanently,” Victor states.

Scene 16

At the Athletic Club, former fiancés Malcolm and Alex have finally crossed paths again after eight years. “Please, come in,” Malcolm says. “Did you…?” Alex begins, but then trials off. Malcolm knows what she wanted to ask. “Yeah, Neil told me you were in town,” he answers. “I tried… to come by last night but you weren’t here,” she explains, “and then I couldn’t bring myself to come back right away… It’s been so long…” “Eight years,” Malcolm says. “Yeah,” Alex nods. “Time has been good to you, though, that’s for sure,” Malcolm notices. “You don’t look so bad yourself,” Alex responds. “You mean… for a dead man,” Malcolm infers. “No, I mean for a man who I haven’t seen in almost a decade,” Alex clarifies. “Well, sure, I’ve let myself go a little bit,” Malcolm admits, “But I know I still look good…” Malcolm realizes Alex is not in the mood for humor. “Um… why don’t you have a seat?” he suggests, “I think we have some unfinished business to take care of…”

Scene 17

At Trumble’s Bookstore, Victoria quickly defends her actions to the Guardian Ad Litem, Roseanne. “It’s just a little disagreement. That’s all,” Victoria tries to downplay her argument with Mackenzie, “I’m sorry you had to witness that, Ms. Ryerson.” Mackenzie realizes who the woman is. “Ms. Ryerson,” she says aloud, “you’re the Guardian Ad Litem.” “That’s right,” Roseanne confirms, “and who might you be?” “Mackenzie Browning,” she introduces herself, “I’m a… a friend of the family.” “She’s JT’s new girlfriend,” Victoria adds, with resentment in her voice. “Yeah, but the babies aren’t his,” Mackenzie quickly clarifies, “I’m a surrogate. JT has nothing to do with them. He’s totally committed to Reed.” “That’s what I’ll determine,” Roseanne says. Victoria’s trying to remain calm, but inside she’s panicking. “Look… Ms. Ryerson, I’m very sorry that we made a private dispute public like that. I assure you it won’t happen again.” “It definitely won’t,” Mackenzie agrees, “because I’ll make sure that Victoria stays far away from me.” “I think that would be best,” Roseanne states, turning to Victoria. “Don’t look at me. She started it!” Victoria defends herself, sounding childish, “I won’t cause problems if she won’t.” “From the sounds of it, you were the aggressor,” Roseanne tells Victoria. “Well, then you didn’t see everything,” Victoria claims, “How much did you even hear?” “Enough,” Roseanne replies, “I heard you threatening to slap a pregnant woman…”

Scene 18

Alex and Malcolm continue to talk in Malcolm’s suite. Malcolm takes a deep breath. “I don’t even know where I should begin,” he confesses, “I wasn’t expecting to ever have to have this conversation…” “Neither was I…,” Alex agrees, “‘cause I thought you were dead…” “Look, I’m sorry,” Malcolm offers. Alex cuts him off. “Sorry!? That’s all you have to say?” she shouts, “You let me believe you were dead for eight years! Eight long years, Malcolm. How could you do that to me?” “I thought that’s the way you would want it!” Malcolm admits. “So Neil was right…,” Alex realizes, “You thought that we betrayed you, and that we stopped looking for you so that we could be together.” “It went through my mind… at the time,” Malcolm nods, “I admit it.”

“I hope you realize how wrong you were,” Alex states, getting teary-eyes, “Malcolm, when they told us you were missing, I thought I was gonna die. I couldn’t imagine how I would be able to go on without you. And we searched and we searched for nights on end. We didn’t want to give up. But the pilots, they told us there was no use. That there was no way you could have survived that long.” Malcolm is indifferent to her pain. “I’ve heard this same story before, from Neil,” he tells her. “It’s true!” Alex maintains. “Look, my brother and I are not exactly on the best of terms right now,” Malcolm informs her. “I’m sure he’s told you that. So I don’t wanna hear all about how Neil went through hell. Or quite frankly, how you went through hell either.” “Well, that’s tough, Malcolm,” Alex shuts him down, “Because you’re gonna hear it, whether you like it or not.” Malcolm sighs. “Fine. Let’s hear it then, so we can get this over with,” he says. “That’s not fait!” Alex protests. “Hey, I didn’t ask for you to come back,” Malcolm fires back. “And do you think I asked for any of this?” Alex shouts, “Stop acting like you are the victim here. Because I can assure you, I have suffered just as much as you have, if not more.”

Scene 19

Tucker is sitting at the Athletic Club bar. Roseanne has just arrived and received a drink from the bartender. “Thank you,” she says as the bartender hands her a drink. Tucker strikes up a conversation. “I haven’t seen you around here before,” he says suddenly, “You new in town?” “Just moved here last week,” Roxanne answers, “although I’ve had my eye on Genoa City for a long time…” Tucker can relate. “Yeah… I know a little something about that,” he tells her. He moves over to the seat beside her. “So, you move here to be close to family, for work….?” Tucker inquires. “The latter,” Roseanne replies, keeping her answers professional and short. “What kind of work do you do,” Tucker tries to keep the conversation going, “if you don’t mind me asking?” “I’m a legal professional specializing in family and children’s services,” Roseanne reveals. “A lawyer, huh?” Tucker asks, “I consider myself a good judge of character, and I never would have guessed that by lookin’ at you, darlin’.” Roseanne smiles. “Well, there’s some things about a person you can’t tell just by looking at them, Mr. McCall, or can I call you Tucker?” she reveals that she knows his identity. “So you know who I am?” Tucker asks quietly. “Your reputation precedes you,” Roseanne compliments him, coyly. “Always nice to hear,” Tucker replies, “By the way, you can call me Tucker… if you let me buy you another drink…”

Scene 20

Phyllis arrives at the Main House of the Ranch to pick up her daughter Summer Newman. Summer’s grandmother Nikki had been babysitting. Nikki lets Phyllis inside. “Thanks for keeping her longer, Nikki,” Phyllis tells her. “Oh, it’s no problem at all. That’s what grandmas are for,” Nikki replies with a smile.

Summer runs into the room. “Mommy!” she calls out. She hugs Phyllis. “Hey, Supergirl!” Phyllis says, “Did you miss me?” Summer nods and smiles. “Alright, you ready to go home and see Daddy?” Phyllis asks her daughter, “Get your dolly. You don’t wanna forget her here.” Summer runs out of the room and goes back upstairs. Nikki turns to Phyllis. “She’s such a sweet little girl,” Nikki says. “Yeah, she sure is,” Phyllis agrees. Summer comes back downstairs with her doll.

“Alright, well, we’re gonna head back home,” Phyllis tells Nikki, “Give grandma a kiss before we go.” Summer gives Nikki a hug and a kiss. “Come back soon, okay?” Nikki says to Summer. “Thanks again, Nikki,” Phyllis says as she takes Summer’s hand and heads out to the foyer. “Bye!” Nikki calls. “See you later,” Phyllis replies back.

Scene 21

In Malcolm’s suite, Alex relays her experiences after Malcolm’s supposed death: “When I left Kenya and came back to Genoa City without you, I felt like a part of me was missing… gone. I was dealing with so much. Grief… anger, confusion, loneliness. And guilt,” Alex explains, “Guilt, because I thought that what you misinterpreted between Neil and me was what drove you to your death… You don’t know how painful that was for me. The intense, indescribable pain that I felt every day I stayed in Genoa City.” “Are you done?” Malcolm asks abruptly. Alex is shocked: “How can you be so insensitive? After all we meant to each other. I was your fiancé! I am your fiancé!” She stops herself, not sure what to say, “Which is it?” Malcolm removes all doubt: “You were my fiancé,” he states, “Alex, I’m sorry, But things have changed. I’ve changed. You had to know that.” “I’ve changed too, Malcolm,” Alex tells him, getting teary-eyed, “If you’d give us half a chance, maybe you could see that even though we’re both different, we’re still perfect for each other… Why do you think I’ve never settled down with anyone? It’s because I could never find anyone who compared to you.” “Well, that image that you have of me is gone,” Malcolm insists, “I’m not that person anymore. That man did die in Kenya, just like you thought he did.”

Alex tries a different approach: “Do you know that, sometimes, just for a moment, I still think about what our life together could have been like?” she reveals, “Would we have had children? What would their names have been?” Her words appear to have no effect on Malcolm. “Alex, really, it’s good seein’ you,” Malcolm says, coming off as harsh and insincere, “but we went our separate ways a long time ago, and I think it’s best if we stay that way.” Alex realizes there’s no hope for them. “Well, I can see that we’re not going to agree,” she realizes, trying to keep her composure, and trying to be gracious in what she perceives a defeat, “so I guess I’ll be going now.” “For what it’s worth, I am sorry,” Malcolm offers, not sounding completely genuine. “Me too,” Alex utters as she walks out.

Scene 22

Tucker and Roseanne continue to get acquainted at the Athletic Club bar. “And what can I call you, Miss…?” Tucker inquires. “Ryerson, Roseanne Ryerson,” she officially introduces herself. “Roseanne Ryerson, huh? I like that. It has a nice ring to it,” Tucker states, “That your married name, or your maiden name?” “Oh, I’m not married,” Roseanne informs him, “Actually, I’ve never really been one for settling down. There’s always been something else I was after, First, it was social work. Then, it was my law degree. Now it’s my career…” “You’re a very sharp woman,” Tucker realizes, “But I’ll let you in on something: I put off a lot of things in life because I was so focused on building my company into a success and making a name for myself.” Roseanne tries to understand the point of the story: “And you’re not sure it was worth it?” she asks. “I’m not sure about a lot of things anymore,” Tucker admits, “Maybe for me, I made the right decision, okay? I had to carefully consider my priorities and decide what sacrifices I was willing to make. For you, I’m just offering a word of caution. Make sure you know what you want out of life before you go too far down a path that you can’t go back.” “I appreciate that,” Roseanne says, “but I’m exactly on the path that I should be on right now.” “Well, that doesn’t mean you can’t take a little detour every now and then, does it?” Tucker asks. “I’m not sure what you’re implying, Mr. McCall,” Roseanne responds. “Tucker, remember?” he corrects her, as he tosses a business card onto the table in front of Roseanne, “It means that, if you ever get lonely, darlin’, you know where to find me.” He winks at her and then leaves the bar, leaving Roseanne speechless.

Scene 23

Victor accosts Ryder at the Coffee House, punching him in the face unexpectedly. Ryder falls back against the counter. Victor grabs his shirt and pulls him back up. He holds Ryder by the collar. “Do you know what I do to punks like you who mess with my family?” he yells angrily, in front of the customers. “I didn’t do anything to Phyllis. I swear!” Ryder pleads. “Just like when you swore you didn’t kidnap Lauren and Jana. Is that it?” Victor says. Ryder flinches, expecting to be hit again. “I didn’t want to do that stuff… I’m trying to start my life over here, become a better person. Maybe in time, you’ll be able to see that too.” “Don’t count on it,” Victor snaps. He slaps a bill down on the counter in front of Ryder. “Here, I forgot to leave you a tip last time I was here,” he says, “This is your last chance. Leave Genoa City while you’re still in one piece, boy.” Ryder picks up the bill, which has something written on it. It’s a $100 dollar bill. The writing says, ‘100 more if you go far away. 24 hours. Call this number.’

Scene 24

Summer stops Phyllis in the foyer of the Main House. “Did you like your surprise, Mommy?” she asks. Phyllis is not sure what Summer’s talking about. “What surprise?” she asks her daughter. “In your bed…,” Summer responds, with a strange smile on her face, “She said you’d like it…” Phyllis is very uncomfortable. “Who’s she?” Phyllis inquires, her voice trembling a bit. “The nice lady,” Summer replies, not really giving an answer, “She was in the yard one day. She said it was a joke. That you’d know what it meant… She said it was funny.” Summer starts laughing. Phyllis is horrified. “It’s not funny. Summer, that is not the kind of joke you ever play on a person. Do you hear me?” Phyllis tells her daughter, trying to remain calm, “Now listen, Summer, I need you to tell me who the lady was. Tell me who did this. Who put the eel in Mommy’s bed?”
