Scene 1
Scott Grainger, Jr. and Jana Hawkes Fisher are laying in bed together. Scott cradles Jana in his arms and Jana looks up to kiss his lips once more. “I’m glad we did this,” she whispers, “When I was with Kevin, I didn’t feel anything. But when I’m with you, I feel alive again… I feel free.”
They lay together for a few more moments. “I wish we could stay like this forever. I don’t want to leave your arms,” Jana tells him, “If only it were possible…” “It is,” Scott replies, “The question is… what are we gonna do about Kevin?”
Scene 2
Katherine Chancellor Murphy and Jill Abbott are still at Genoa City Memorial Hospital. They’re awaiting word on the condition of Katherine’s granddaughter, Mackenzie Browning, who just gave birth to twins. The doctor returns to the waiting room after being with Mackenzie. She had developed high blood pressure after giving birth.
“Doctor, how is she?” Katherine asks hesitantly. Jill has a hand on her shoulder. The doctor’s face says it all. “It’s bad news,” he speaks, “I’m sorry… Mackenzie… she didn’t make it...”
Scene 3
At the Baldwins’ Apartment, Michael Baldwin reacts to his wife Lauren Fenmore Baldwin’s surprise announcement that she is pregnant. “A baby!?” he shouts, overjoyed, “We’re gonna have another baby!” “Yes!” Lauren confirms excitedly, “Believe me, I was as shocked as you are. In a good way.” Eden Gerick is also present. “Yeah, wow, this is so unexpected. But congratulations, you two!” Eden says to her half-brother and sister-in-law.
“Have you been to get a check-up yet?” Michael asks. “I’ve made an appointment,” Lauren answers, “for early next week.”
Scene 4
Katherine and Jill continue to talk to Mackenzie’s doctor in the waiting room of the hospital. “I’m sorry for your loss,” the doctor tells them. “I have to know,” Katherine says quietly, her voice cracking, “Was it… the high blood pressure?” “Yes,” the doctor confirms, “It was a heart attack… I’m afraid your granddaughter suffered a ruptured aorta after the twins were delivered. There was nothing we could do in time. I’m sorry.” Jill holds Katherine up.
Suddenly, the Winters family [Lily Winters Ashby, Neil Winters, Malcolm Winters, Devon Hamilton Winters, and Roxanne Porter] all return to the waiting room. “They are the most precious children I’ve ever seen,” Roxanne tells Lily. “You can say that again,” Malcolm echoes. The Winters stop in their tracks, sensing the sorrow in the waiting room. “Katherine?” Neil calls her name out softly. Jill and Katherine turn to them. “What’s going on here?” Lily asks. “Is Mac okay?” Devon adds.
Katherine looks directly at Lily. “Mackenzie is dead…,” she says, tearing up, “Surrogacy killed my granddaughter.” Lily looks horrified.
Scene 5
Abby Carlton, upset about her father’s actions and being rejected by Ryder Callahan, goes to Genoa City Airport, intent on leaving town. She sees Ricky Williams waiting for a plane of his own…
Abby approaches him. “What are the chances of us meeting again,” she says, “It must be fate…”
Scene 6
Ashley Abbott and Victor Newman are banging furiously on an old motel room door. “Open up, you punk!” Victor shouts through the door. “Abby, are you in there?” Ashley calls out as she continues to knock.
Inside the motel, Ryder Callahan has just gotten out of the shower and is only wearing a towel around his waist. “Hold on!” he shouts back, “I’m coming!” He opens the front door and Victor and Ashley storm inside. “Where is she?” Ashley demands. “Abby? She’s not here!” Ryder replies.
There’s a scarf on Ryder’s bed. Ashley notices it and picks it up. “She was,” she announces, “This is Abby’s!” she announces. “What the hell have you done with our daughter?” Victor orders.
Scene 7
Jana and Scott continue to discuss their situation. “I don’t wanna think about Kevin,” “I just want to savour every moment we have together.” “But we have to tell him,” Scott insists. “We will… I will, when the time is right,” Jana agrees, “Promise me that you’ll let me handle it… in my own way.” “Look, he’s my friend too,” Scott says, “I don’t want to hurt him, but you can’t remember him. And we’ve developed feelings for one another that we can’t ignore. So he’s just gonna have to accept it.”
Jana gets out of bed and walks over to a photo of her and Kevin hanging on the wall. “It’s like everything is backwards,” she realizes, “I look around and see all these photographs of me and Kevin. It should be my life but it isn’t. It’s like you’re the only thing that seems real to me right now…”
Scene 8
Lily reacts to Katherine’s admission. “I am so sorry!” she cries, “What happened? I mean, I know she was under stress, but I thought everything would be okay.” “Well, it’s not!” Katherine replies, sounding a little harsh. Neil steps in. “Katherine this is a tragedy, but surely, you don’t blame Lily for what happened,” he says.
Katherine calms down and grabs Lily’s hand. “Darling, I didn’t mean it like that,” she assures her. “Mackenzie knew the risks and she was determined to go through with the surrogacy because that’s the kind of person she is – was,” Neil continues. Jill nods. “I’m the first to admit I wasn’t always Mackenzie’s biggest fan, but she sure did have a kind way with others,” she realizes, “She had probably the biggest heart out of anyone I’ve ever known.” “Do not talk about her like that!” Katherine shouts. “Like what?” Jill asks. “Like she’s gone!” Katherine responds, breaking into tears. “Katherine, she is gone,” Jill comforts her as Katherine cries on her shoulder.
Scene 9
Ryder answers Victor and Ashley’s question. “She was here. She left. That’s all I know,” he tells them. “You should have kept her here and called us right away,” Ashley says. “She’s a big girl,” Ryder answers, “And besides, she wants to get away from you!” He looks right at Victor. “You especially, he continues, “You think that I’m gonna hurt her. Well look in the mirror. All her tears have been over you.” “I’m gonna forget that you just said that, boy,” Victor replies. He turns to Ashley. “Let’s go,” he says, motioning towards the door. Victor turns back to Ryder to offer a final warning. “You better pray that we find her,” he says. They leave the motel room.
Scene 10
Katherine rejoins Jill in the hospital waiting room. “I just got off the phone with Brock,” she informs Jill, “That was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.” “How did he take it?” Jill asks. “He’s crushed,” Katherine replies, “I knew he would be. This is his only child we’re talking about.”
“JT?” Jill asks, wondering if Katherine has gotten a hold of Mackenzie’s boyfriend. “I don’t think I can make that call…,” Katherine admits, her voice shaking, “He just found out that Reed isn’t his son. He just lost his parents. Now to tell him that he lost his girlfriend too… it’s unimaginable.” “Why don’t you let me help you?” Jill offers. Katherine shakes her head and sighs. “There are still so many people to call,” she realizes. “You know, it’s late,” Jill says, “You’re exhausted. You don’t have to do this now. It can wait until morning.” “No,” Katherine replies stubbornly, “We called them all and told them Mackenzie had the babies. Now how do we tell them that she’s dead?”
Scene 11
Michael continues to react to news of Lauren’s pregnancy. “There’s so much to think about!” he says, “Baby names… will it be a boy or a girl?” “Michael, slow down!” Lauren urges him. “No, we have so many people to tell – Kevin, Jana. Scott… Gloria,” Michael continues, “My God, she’ll go through the roof when she hears about this…”
“…And this place… this place is too small,” Michael realizes, “We’ll need an extra bedroom.” “No, you won’t,” Eden interjects, “The baby can have my room.” Both Michael and Lauren are caught off-guard by Eden’s announcement.
Scene 12
Abby and Ricky continue to talk in the airport. “My flight leaves soon,” Ricky tells Abby, “Back to LA.” “You’re going back to your grandparents?” Abby inquires. “No, I’m going to finally meet my mother,” Ricky answers, “Find out her side of the story, and let her know that my father and my grandparents kept me in the dark all these years about her.” “I’ll come with you,” Abby offers, without thinking, “I’m so sick of Genoa City. I think it would be good for me… good for us… to get away somewhere. Together…”
Scene 13
Victor and Ashley are walking outside in the cold. “You never told me what happened to upset Abby this much,” “Based on what Ryder said, it has to do with you. So what exactly did you do?” “This is not the time for that,” Victor dismisses her question. “If it involves our daughter, I have a right to know,” Ashley presses, “Victor…” Victor sighs. “I admitted, at the courthouse, to changing Reed’s paternity results to show that JT is his father,” he reveals. Ashley’s eyes widen.
“So you’re saying that…,” she starts to speak. Victor nods. “Bradley Carlton is Reed’s father,” he says. “Victor, how could you?” Ashley scolds him. “For your information, he betrayed and hurt my daughter,” Victor responds harshly, “He would have done the same to his child.” “It wasn’t your place to interfere,” Ashley tells him, “You know how much it killed Brad to find out that you were Abby’s biological father. You denied him of another child.” “I was protecting my daughter and grandchild from being tied to that lowlife for the rest of their lives,” Victor defends himself.
Ashley continues to try to reason with her ex-husband. “But Brad would have been a wonderful father to Reed,” she says, “This was his biological son we’re talking about. After losing Robert, that would have meant so much to him.” By now, Victor is ignoring her. “Let’s just focus on finding our daughter, okay?” he suggests. Ashley stands her ground. “No, I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but Ryder was right,” she tells him, “You keep telling yourself that everything you do is to protect those that you love, but your interference is the reason that all of our lives are in such turmoil.”
Scene 14
Jill and Katherine reconvene in the waiting room. “Billy’s on his way,” Jill tells Katherine, “He should be here any minute.” “Good,” Katherine says, “I just called Kevin too.”
Billy Abbott and Victoria Newman Abbott arrive at the hospital. Jill and Billy hug. “Honey, I’m so sorry,” Jill says to Billy, “I know how close you and Mackenzie used to be.” “How’re you doin’ Grandma?” Billy asks Katherine. “Still in shock and disbelief,” Katherine replies softly, “Mackenzie should have had a long, happy life ahead of her… with JT and kids of their own.” “Um, where is JT?” Victoria asks.
“JT had another tragedy of his own…,” Jill says, “When Mackenzie first got to the hospital, JT got a phonecall that his parents were killed in an accident. “How awful,” Victoria replies, “Tom and Martha… both dead… I have to call him.” “We’ve tried to reach him,” Katherine tells her, “There’s been no answer.” “You mean, JT doesn’t even know about Mackenzie?” Victoria asks. Katherine shakes her head.
Victoria hugs Katherine. “Everything had been so tense with the custody battle, but I want you to know I never wanted this to happen. Any of it.” “I know,” Katherine replies.
Scene 15
Victor gets a mysterious phone call informing him of Abby’s whereabouts. The caller cannot be heard. “At the airport?” Victor replies, “You keep her there. Make sure she doesn’t get on a plane.” The caller says something else. “Mmhmm,” Victor replies, “We’re on our way.” He hangs up and motions for Ashley to follow him.
Scene 16
Scott and Jana have now gotten dressed and moved into the living room of the Fishers’ Apartment. “If you want, I can wait with you and we can tell Kevin together… tonight,” Scott suggests. “Let’s not ruin his night,” Jana replies, “But I will do it tomorrow… I promise. I don’t want anything or anyone to come between us being able to be together.” Scott gives Jana one last kiss. “I better go then,” he says, “Kevin could be home at any time, and I don’t want him to know I was here tonight.”
Jana’s cell phone begins to vibrate. She picks it up. “Wait,” she says, “This is Kevin now.” Scott turns back and waits by the door.
“Babe, were you asleep?” Kevin asks Jana. “No,” Jana replies, “I was keeping myself busy.” “Um, well, I’m at the hospital. And I could be here a while,” Kevin informs his wife. “The hospital?” Jana reacts, “Is everything alright?” “I’m fine,” Kevin replies, although he’s clearly shaken up, “It’s Mackenzie. She had the babies, and um, well stuff happened. I’ll talk to you when I get home about it. I just wanted you to know where I am so you don’t worry.” “Okay, thanks for letting me know,” Jana replies as she looks up to meet Scott’s eyes, “And don’t worry about me either. I’m in good hands.” She hangs up.
“I think we have a bit more time together,” Jana tells Scott, “If you’d like to stay longer…” “We just got re-dressed,” Scott points out. “Well, we can get re-undressed,” Jana laughs. “I’m all for that,” Scott agrees, a big smirk on his face.
As they both remove their shirts again, Scott collapses onto the couch and Jana falls on top of him. They continue kissing…
Scene 17
Ricky reacts to Abby’s suggestion that she accompany him to LA. “You wanna come with me?” Ricky asks, surprised, “What happened to ‘I still have feelings for Ryder?’” “I’m through with Ryder,” Abby announces, “Why should I have to wait for him to come around? You’re ready for me now.” She leans in to kiss him but Ricky pulls away.
“I thought that we decided this was wrong,” he says, “I won’t be a rebound. This is not what you want… I know that!” Abby’s eyes tear up. “To Hell with you too then,” she shouts and she turns away to leave. “Abby, come on!” Ricky calls out, “Don’t take it like that.” Abby turns around. “What is so wrong with me that no guy wants to be with me?” she cries. “You know that’s not what I meant,” Ricky tells her. “Go to Hell,” Abby says again and she runs out of the airport.
Scene 18
Kevin Fisher arrives at the hospital and Billy sees him. They stand in the waiting room for a few moments. Neither of them knows what to say, or whether to say anything at all.
Billy breaks the silence. “Mac, for some reason I’ll never know, had a soft spot for you,” he whispers, “That’s something I’ll always remember about her. Her ability to see the good in everyone.” Kevin nods. “I never thought you were right for her, but the fact that she still cared so much about you, despite all the stupid things that you did, really shows what a caring, forgiving person she was,” he says. “Hell, she gave both of us more second chances than we probably deserved,” Billy admits, “I’ll always love her for that.” “Yeah, me too,” Kevin says.
Victoria rejoins Billy. “Hey, um, what did you mean before, when you said, ‘I never wanted this to happen?’” Billy asks her. “I had a dream… before the hearing,” Victoria explains, “It’s silly.. but it was a dream where Mackenzie was this wicked witch and she was trying to take Reed away from me. And I wanted her dead. I wanted to kill her so that she wouldn’t steal my son. And I melted her. And she died, and now she really is.” She starts crying and Billy hugs her.
Scene 19
Katherine enters the hospital chapel. She sits down and begins to speak aloud. “This was supposed to be a joyous day,” she begins, “Mackenzie, my dear granddaughter, helped bring new life into this world. Why did you have to take hers? I guess it’s true what they say… no good deed goes unpunished.”
Scene 20
Michael and Lauren are not sure what to make of Eden’s comment. “What are you talking about – the baby can have your room?” Lauren questions, “We’re not gonna let you give up your room. We still have lots of time to figure this out.” “No, I’ve had it figured out for a few days now,” Eden reveals, “I just didn’t know how to tell you… that I need to leave Genoa City.”
“This—this is crazy,” Michael responds. “Second semester hasn’t started yet,” Eden continues, “I can transfer somewhere else. I can go back to Paris… or to the ashram. Anywhere but here.” “But all your friends are here,” Michael says, “And your family.” “And so is Noah…,” Eden states, “I’m gonna be 18 in a few months anyway. And I would just move out. So you might as well let me do it before next term starts.”
Michael glances at Lauren who subtly nods her head, giving Eden permission to leave. Michael steps forward and places his hands on Eden’s shoulders. “You are a part of this family,” he says, “I don’t want you to ever forget that. You are always welcome back here whenever you feel like it.” “You’ve been like the daughter I never had,” Lauren informs Eden. Eden smiles. There’s a tear in her eyes. “Well now maybe you’ll have one,” she says, “A daughter of your own…”
Scene 21
Jana and Scott get re-dressed again. “Now, I really think I should be going,” Scott tells her. He gives her one last kiss. “I’ll call you tomorrow,” Jana says, “to let you know how I made out.” “Should I hire a bodyguard?” Scott jokes. “I’ll make Kevin understand,” Jana replies. Scott leaves and Jana returns to the couch to fix up the cushions and pillows.
Kevin returns home, having missed Scott by just a few minutes. “You’re still up,” he notices. “Well, of course I am. I wanted to wait for you,” Jana lies. She purposely tries to keep her distance, but Kevin comes closer. She can see he’s upset. “So what’s going on with Mackenzie?” Jana inquires nervously. “She passed away,” Kevin reveals, “Complications after giving birth… ” This is not what Jana expected. “Oh, Kevin, I’m so sorry,” she offers her sympathies, “I know, from the way you’ve talked about her, that she was a good friend to you.”
Kevin hugs her. “I just need my wife right now,” he says, “Losing Mackenzie made me realize even more than ever that we have to hold on to what we have…”
Scene 22
Victor and Ashley arrive at the airport and spot Ricky. “She left. I couldn’t stop her,” Ricky tells them. Abby’s parents are clearly frustrated. “She’s not with Ryder. She’s not here,” Victor says, “Then where the hell did she go now?”
Scene 23
Abby goes to the park and takes a seat on the bench. “Abby?” a voice calls out. Abby looks up to see a classmate, Lucas Taylor, standing over her. Lucas, a former childhood friend of Noah Newman’s, is now the high school football captain and biggest jock at Walnut Grove Academy. “What are you doing out here all alone?” he asks, “You must be freezing.” “I don’t want to go home,” Abby tells him. Lucas nods. “Come on. I’ll take you back to my place,” he tells her.
“Lucas…?” Abby asks suddenly, “Do you think I’m pretty?” “What kind of question is that?” he responds. “A ‘yes’ or ‘no’ one,” Abby says. “Yeah. Of course, I do,” Lucas replies, “And you’ll be a lot prettier and a lot hotter once you’re warmed up by my fireplace…”
Scene 24 [Montage]
Scott returns home to his suite at the Athletic Club. “Well, there’s no way I’ll be able to sleep tonight,” he says aloud. He grabs a book and sits down in a chair to read. It’s Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities – one of his favorites. As he reads the opening paragraph to himself, a montage begins playing.
“It was the best of times,” [The Winters family stands united, staring at the twins through the glass window in the nursery]
“it was the worst of times;” [The Chancellor family – Katherine, Jill, and Billy – stands beside Mackenzie’s body, preparing to say goodbye. Victoria peers inside the room]
“it was the age of wisdom,” [Scott is shown reading]
“it was the age of foolishness;” [Abby and Lucas are now in bed together]
“it was the epoch of belief,” [Kevin continues to hold Jana tight]
“it was the epoch of incredulity;” [Jana’s face shows that she is once again conflicted]
“it was the season of Light,” [Another shot of the Winters family outside the nursery]
“it was the season of Darkness;” [Mackenzie’s body is covered up]
“it was the spring of hope,” [Michael and Lauren sit on the couch, holding hands]
“it was the winter of despair;” [a teary-eyed Eden packs her bag and puts a photo of Noah inside]
“we had everything before us,” [Ricky boards the plane to Los Angeles]
“we had nothing before us;” [Ryder sits alone in his motel room]
“we were all going directly to Heaven,” [Mackenzie’s body is wheeled out of the hospital room]
“we were all going the other way” [Victor and Ashley are frantically searching for Abby. The camera zooms in on Victor.]
Scott closes the book and looks up to see his own reflection in the mirror…

EPISODE 38: MONDAY, JANUARY 17, 2011
Episode 38 – Monday, January 17, 2011
Scene 1
In the Memorial Hospital waiting room, JT Hellstrom rejoins Paul Williams. “I just talked to the doctors,” he announces, “Mac had the babies. They’re all okay.” “That’s a relief,” Paul says. “Yeah, at least something went right,” JT continues, “I’m telling you, Paul, I couldn’t take it if something else went wrong.”
Just then, JT’s cell phone rings. “JT Hellstrom…,” he answers the call. The caller’s voice cannot be heard, but it’s clearly bad news. “What!?” JT exclaims, “Come on… No, this can’t be happening.” He’s in distress. “JT!?” Paul and Katherine rush over to his side.
“What’s going on?” Katherine Chancellor Murphy asks. JT can barely speak. “My parents…,” he whispers, “They were in a car accident… They didn’t make it.” “Oh, JT, I’m so sorry,” Katherine offers her sympathies. “Your sister?” Paul asks. “She’s okay, I guess… she wasn’t with them when it happened.” “Well, thank God for that,” Paul remarks. “Yeah. Um,I gotta get out of here,” JT says, overwhelmed. “We’ll keep an eye on Mackenzie for you,” Katherine announces, “Go.” “Dear God in Heaven,” Katherine says to Paul, “That man has been through enough today. For this to have happened on today of all days, the man upstairs sometimes has a cruel sense of humor.”
Scene 2
Phyllis Newman is on the phone with the police, trying to report the disappearance of her husband Nicholas Newman. “I know about the 24-hour waiting period, but I’m telling you my husband is missing, and something has happened to him.”
Scene 3
Lily Winters Ashby, her ‘father’ Neil Winters, and her adopted brother Devon Hamilton Winters all arrive at Memorial Hospital together. Jill Abbott greets them. “Congratulations, sweetie,” she says as she hugs Lily. “The twins were born already?” Lily asks. “Oh, yes. Mackenzie already gave birth,” Jill confirms, “They’re fine. The babies are happy and healthy.” “Thank God,” Neil comments, breathing a sigh of relief. “And Mac?” Devon inquires. Jill sees the doctor approaching Katherine and Paul. “Well, we’re about to find out…,” she says.
Scene 4
Katherine and Paul hurry over to meet the doctor. “Where’s Mackenzie? Can we see her?” she demands. “No, she’s resting,” the doctor reveals, “She’s been experiencing some high blood pressure. We want to monitor her to make sure everything’s alright.” “When will she be able to have visitors?” Paul asks. “It’s difficult to say,” the doctor admits, “We’ll continue to keep a close eye on her. If her blood pressure comes down…” Katherine cuts him off. “What do you mean, ‘if’?” she asks, “You mean, ‘as soon as,’ right?” “This is a difficult time for her,” the doctor explains, “She was under a tremendous amount of stress earlier.”
Lily approaches Katherine. “How’s Mac?” she inquires. Katherine grabs her hand. “Lily, darling, um, there’s been some complications,” Katherine tells Lily, “not with the babies. Apparently Mackenzie has developed high blood pressure.” “Is that serious?” Lily asks. “If it doesn’t come down soon, it could be,” Katherine responds.
Scene 5
Kevin Fisher is at Crimson Lights Coffee House, finishing up a late shift. His friend Scott Grainger, Jr. walks in. “Just the guy I was hoping to see!” Kevin exclaims. “Oh, yeah?” Scott replies, “When did you get back in?” “Last night,” Kevin answers, “and let me tell you, Jana gave me the best ‘Welcome home’ present last night.”
Scene 6A
Jana Hawkes Fisher enters Fenmore’s Boutique, where she sees Roxanne Porter re-arranging one of the displays. “Roxanne, hey!” she calls, “Um, is Lauren here?” “No, she actually just left,” Roxanne answers. “Good. I need to talk to you,” Jana says, “and I don’t want Lauren to see or hear me.” “What is it?” Roxanne asks. “I’m afraid I did something I might regret,” Jana begins.
Scene 5B
“You know, I think Jana and I are finally starting to reconnect,” Kevin reveals. Scott isn’t sure how to respond. “That’s great, man,” he says, sounding almost sincere. “Yeah, you know, we even, um, slept in the same bed for the first time in months,” Kevin boasts.
Scene 6B
“You slept with Scott, didn’t you?” Roxanne suspects. “No, I didn’t, but there was a temptation,” Jana confesses. “So you regret not sleeping with him?” Roxanne asks.
Scene 5C
“And the best part, it was her idea…,” Kevin continues, “I don’t know what happened while I was away, but I have a feeling that spending all that time with you somehow helped lead Jana back to me.” He pats Scott on the shoulder. “Glad I could help you out with that,” Scott replies, sounding very distant and trying to keep his emotions under control.
Scene 6C
“I slept with my husband,” Jana informs Roxanne. “…And you regret that?” Roxanne questions, “You think it was the wrong decision?” “It was for the wrong reasons,” Jana states, “What I regret is using him as a substitute for Scott. I pushed Scott away because I wanted to stay loyal to Kevin, but now I’m realizing that I don’t think I can just forget about Scott. The feelings that I used to have for him… I’m having those for Scott.”
Scene 7
In Ryder Callahan’s motel room, Abby Carlton vents the events at the courthouse to Ryder, just as she had done earlier to Ricky Williams. “So I told you my family was screwed up before,” she begins, “Well, I had no idea how bad it was until today. Get this: my half-sister just married my uncle… And my dad just said that my other dad is really my nephew’s biological father, which would also make him my half-brother. Why can’t I just have a normal family for once? I mean, things were perfect when it was just my mom, my dad – um, Brad Carlton, and Colleen and me. And now Brad and Colleen are dead, my mom is always at work since she took the CEO job at Jabot… and I don’t ever want to see Victor again. I have no one anymore… except for you.” She hugs Ryder again.
Scene 8
Michael returns home to the Baldwins’ Apartment. “Why aren’t you at the hearing?” His younger sister, Eden Gerick, inquires. “Don’t ask!” Michael shouts, “It was one disaster after another. I just want to lie down and forget all about it.” “So you lost?” Eden asks. “No, I didn’t lose,” Michael clarifies, “There was no verdict. Mackenzie went into labour in the middle of it, right after Victor claimed that Brad Carlton is really Reed’s biological father and Alex exposed Victoria’s secret marriage to Billy Abbott! So, to make a long story short, it’s postponed…”
Scene 9A
Phyllis springs up off the couch. “Nick?” she shouts. She runs to the door and opens it. It’s Lauren. “Phyllis, hi,” Lauren greets her best friend. “Lauren,” Phyllis whispers, comforted and relieved. She hugs her tightly. Lauren is caught off-guard.
“Is everything okay?” Lauren asks. “Didn’t Michael tell you about Nick?” Phyllis responds, “I thought that’s why you were here…” “No, I had something that I wanted to tell you,” Lauren admits, “But forget that. What about Nick?” “I think something’s happened to him,” Phyllis reveals, “His car was at the Courthouse but he never came inside. For his sister’s custody hearing. No one’s heard from him. Not Victoria, Nikki, Sharon, Noah… I’m telling you, he just disappeared.”
Scene 10
Michael is in the kitchen eating a snack. He throws the wrapper out in the garbage. “What the hell…?” he asks aloud as he notices something almost hidden at the bottom of the garbage. He pulls it out and realizes it’s a home pregnancy test. Michael glances over at Eden who is sitting on the couch. He has a very disappointed look on his face.
Scene 9B
“There has not been a moment of peace since Daisy,” Lauren confides in Phyllis, “I know these last few months have been like that for you too…” Phyllis gets up from the couch. “I can’t sit here feeling sorry for myself, doing nothing,” she announces, “I should be out looking for him. I have to find my husband” “Do you need Michael and me to take Summer?” Lauren offers. “No, she’s at a sleepover,” Phyllis answers.
Lauren’s cell phone rings. She answers it and Michael appears frantic. “Lauren, thank God. I need you to come home right away,” he says. “Honey, I’m with Phyllis,” Lauren tells him. Michael collects himself. “Any word on Nick?” he asks, trying to remain calm. “No. Unfortunately not,” Lauren states. “That’s too bad,” Michael replies, “Look, I know that you want to be there for a friend right now. So do I. But listen: It’s very important that you come home right away. Tell Phyllis we’re thinking about her and we’ll check in later. And come home.” “Michael…,” Lauren protests, “You’re scaring me.” “I will explain everything when you get home,” Michael says. He hands up. Lauren looks over at Phyllis.
“I’m really sorry, but I have to go,” she informs her friend, “Michael needs me at home.” “You came here to tell me something?” Phyllis recalls. “Um, it can wait,” Lauren decides, “I’ll be thinking good thoughts about Nick. And if you need anything, anything at all, please call us, okay?”
Scene 11
Abby has calmed down. Ryder returns with a cup of hot chocolate for her. He hands it to her and she takes a sip.
“I can’t believe you actually live in this place,” Abby says suddenly, taking a look at the room, “It’s a total dump…” “It’s the best I can do,” Ryder answers. “It’s not right,” Abby tells him, “You deserve so much better.” “Well, Gloria offered to let me move in with her and Jeffrey, but I turned her down,” Ryder admits, “I don’t want anyone’s handouts. And I don’t want her feeling obligated to me just cause I’m Tom Fisher’s kid.” “Still, you must be so alone here,” Abby speculates, “Just like me… Don’t you see: we understand each other so well, Ryder. You won’t let me be alone tonight, will you?” She strokes the side of his face.
Scene 12
Lily and Neil are talking in the hospital waiting room. “My baby having her own babies,” Neil comments, “There was a time when I never thought I would see the day, but here you are. Healthy and strong. And now, a mother. I am so proud of you.”
Neil’s half-brother, Malcolm Winters, arrives at Memorial Hospital. “Congratulations, mama,” he says to Lily. “Thank you,” Lily replies appreciatively, “I’m so sorry for forgetting to call you. How did you know about the babies?” “Your dad called me,” Malcolm answers. Lily smiles and turns to Neil. “Really?” she asks. “I knew that you would want him here,” Neil admits, “I think we can put aside our differences for today. To celebrate this joyous occasion with you. Isn’t that right, Malcolm?” “It certainly is,” Malcolm confirms, “Today is all about my beautiful ‘niece’ and those two incredible gifts you received today.” “Thank you,” Lily says, “You don’t know how much that means to me.”
Scene 13
Paul brings Katherine a cup of coffee. She thanks him. “Why don’t you take off for a bit?” Katherine suggests, “Everything seems to be under control here and there’s plenty of people to take care of Mackenzie.” “You don’t mind?” Paul asks. “Not at all,” Katherine replies. “You know, I’m gonna stop over at JT’s and inform the sitter what happened,” Paul announces, “JT was probably so out of his mind that he forgot to check in.” Paul has a realization. “And I’ve been so busy thinking about JT that I haven’t even checked in with my own son,” he says aloud.”
Scene 14
Lauren arrives home. “Finally!” Michael exclaims. Lauren is confused. “Honey, I told you I was with Phyllis,” she reminds him, “I got here as fast as I could. Now why did you want to see me? Is Fen okay?” “He’s fine. He’s with Gloria.”
Michael looks over at Eden before answering Lauren’s question. “You know, Eden, I need to speak to Lauren,” Michael informs his sister, “Could you give us a few minutes please?” He sounds shaken up. “Sure,” Eden replies, sounding pouty. She goes into her bedroom.
“Michael, what’s going on?” Lauren demands. “Do you have any idea what is going on with Eden and Noah?” Michael asks his wife. “Yes, she already told me all about Kyle,” Lauren answers, misinterpreting Michael’s question. Michael is confused. “Kyle?” he repeats, “What does Kyle Abbott have to do with any of this?”
Scene 15
Jana has returned to her apartment. There is a knock on the door and she answers it. It’s Scott, who walks into the apartment before she can say anything or give her permission. “I heard about you and Kevin,” he announces. “It’s not what you think!” Jana stammers. “Save it!” Scott replies, “Don’t tell me you suddenly got feelings for him. You don’t love him!” “I know,” Jana says quietly. Scott is taken aback. “What?” he asks. “I agree with you,” Jana repeats, “It was a mistake… being with Kevin when I really wanted to be with you.”
Scene 16
Paul returns home to an empty apartment. “Ricky?” he calls out for his son. There’s no answer, and Paul realizes his son isn’t home.
Noticing that the computer is left on, Paul heads over to it and turns on the monitor. He checks the history and sees ‘Genoa City Airport.’ Paul clicks on the links and sees that Ricky looked at several flights to California. “Damn it!” he curses, “I never should have left him alone.”
Scene 17
Ryder gently pulls himself away from Abby’s advances. “You don’t want to go home tonight, do you?” he asks her. “I can’t face my dad right now. Not after what he did,” Abby explains, “Please, let me stay here with you. Where I feel safe.” She leans in and kisses his lips.
“I thought you came here only as a friend,” Ryder replies softly. “I swear those were my intentions,” Abby insists, “but I can’t keep lying to myself. I love you and you are the only good thing in my life right now.” Ryder isn’t sure what to say. “Look, Ryder, I’ve waited so long to be with you,” Abby continues, “Don’t make me wait any longer.”
Scene 18
Jill approaches Lily in the maternity ward of the hospital. “I thought Cane would be here,” Lily admits. “I mean, when Michael said he might have a way to bring Cane home, I really thought it would have happened by now…” “These things take time,” Jill tries to stay rational, “There’s so much red tape to go through in dealing with the immigration authorities.” “We don’t have time,” Lily responds, “I keep thinking of all the things Cane is gonna miss. The first time they come home. And then what’s next? Their first steps? Their first words? Will they even know how to say ‘daddy?’” “Of course they will!” Lily assures her daughter-in-law, “I promise you, Cane will be a part of the twins’ lives. And until then, I will be there with you, and your father will be there with you. Every step of the way.”
Scene 19
Abby continues to make a play for Ryder in his motel room. “I’m 18. I’m legal now,” Abby justifies, “What’s holding you back?” “Just because we can, doesn’t mean we should,” Ryder explains. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Abby questions, taking offense. “It means that you’re not ready for that kind of relationship,” Ryder insists, “I’m not ready!” “No, it means this was a mistake. Me coming here!” Abby realizes. She grabs her purse and heads for the door. “Abby! Where are you going?” Ryder calls after her. Abby turns back, teary-eyed. “I have no idea,” she admits, “but I won’t stay where I’m not wanted. I have told you time and time again how I feel about you. And every time I think that we are getting somewhere, you pull away from me. I don’t know what’s wrong with me to make you do that.” “Nothing!” Ryder tells her. “Then why don’t you want to be with me?” Abby asks again, “You say you care about me, that you don’t want to hurt me… but here I am, and I’m hurt. So I’m through waiting for you to get your life sorted out. If you want to be here alone, then fine. If you change your mind, you know where to find me. But until then, goodbye, Ryder. And good riddance.” She storms out.
Scene 20
Roxanne arrives at the hospital. Neil and Devon greet her. “Hey! How’s Lily?” Roxanne asks. “She’s in with the twins right now…,” Devon announces.

Scene 22B
A heart monitor starts beeping and those in the waiting room see the doctors rush by as an alarm sounds. Katherine and Jill spring up from their seats. “Oh gosh. Is it Mackenzie?” Katherine worries.
Scene 23
Lauren realizes that Michael doesn’t know. “Your sister cheated on Noah… with Kyle,” she gently informs her husband. “What?” Michael reacts, “When did that happen? How did that happen?” “The night of Noah’s pool party,” Lauren explains, “After Kyle poached away all of Noah’s guests, Eden went over there to give him a piece of her mind.” “She ended up giving him something else,” Michael deduces. “Apparently,” Lauren nods. “Eww, my little sister with Jack’s delinquent son,” Michael comments, “I do not want to picture that.” “Eden feels really badly about what she did, but Noah will not talk to her,” Lauren continues, “She’s crushed.”
“Well, this whole situation makes what I have to say even harder,” Michael says vaguely, “It adds quite a complication.” “What kind of complication?” Lauren asks. Michael pulls the home-pregnancy test out of his pocket and holds it up for Lauren. “I found this…,” he informs her. “Oh, that,” Lauren whispers, almost speechless, “From the kitchen garbage?” “Yeah,” Michael confirms, “You knew?” Lauren takes a moment.
“Michael, it’s not Eden’s. It’s mine,” she announces, “I’m the one who’s pregnant.” Michael is stunned, not sure of how to respond. “Oh…,” he says.
Scene 24
Jana and Scott continue to discuss their feelings for one another. “I don’t remember the first time I met Kevin,” Jana states, “But I remember meeting you for the first time, at the Newman Pool. When our eyes met for the first time, there was something between us right then. I know you felt it too.” “I did,” Scott nods. Jana leans in closer to him. “And I don’t remember my first kiss with Kevin,” she continues softly, “But I can’t stop thinking about you kissing me… right in this very apartment. I thought I was dreaming because I had wanted it for so long. But it was real.” “Then why did you give Kevin this impression that you are re-committed to him?” Scott inquires. “Because I was ashamed – I am ashamed that I’m having these feelings for someone other than my husband,” Jana confesses, “And I thought if I just focused my attention on Kevin, that my feelings for you would go away.” “You didn’t have to sleep with him,” Scott tells her. “I thought I was doing the right thing,” Jana justifies her actions, “But I swear to you, the only way I got through it… was by imagining that I was with you.” This makes Scott smirk. “I don’t want to just imagine it anymore,” Jana announces.
Scene 25A
Kevin is at the Coffee House, after hours, preparing to count the till and update the record books. There is a picture of him with Jana in the office. He takes a moment and stares at it. “What the hell am I doing here when I have a beautiful, gorgeous wife who loves me waiting at home?” he asks aloud.
Scene 26A
Meanwhile, back at the Fishers’ Apartment, Jana and Scott are kissing passionately.
Scene 25B
Kevin calls Jana to give her an update. It goes straight to voicemail. “Hey, Jana… I’m just picking up some of your favourite snacks from the Coffee House, and then I’m on my way home,” he tells his wife, “I can’t tell you happy I am that we finally got our marriage back on track. Can’t wait to see you. Bye.”
Scene 26B
Jana’s cell phone sits on her nightstand. As it vibrates, the screen says ‘Missed Call: Kevin.’ Meanwhile, Jana and Scott are in bed together.

Scene 1
At the Genoa City Courthouse, the entire courtroom remains in shock at Victor Newman’s confession that Brad Carlton, not JT Hellstrom, is really his grandson Reed Hellstrom’s biological father.
Alex Perez, JT’s lawyer, breaks the silence. “Your Honor, this whole thing is hearsay,” she says, “We can’t just take Mr. Newman’s word for it. Without any tangible proof…” “I’m gonna interrupt you for a moment, Counsel,” the judge cuts her off, “I want to make it explicit right now: I’m not going to base any decision on the fact that Mr. Hellstrom is or isn’t the child’s biological father. He is and has always been the only father the child has ever known.” “Thank you, Your Honor,” JT says. The judge turns to him. “But I imagine, Mr. Hellstrom, that you’d like to know for sure,” he speaks.
“Reed is my son,” JT maintains. “I’d like to know, Your Honor,” Victoria Newman Abbott interrupts, “I know what my father is capable of, and this is something he would have done.” “I did do it!” Victor shouts, “I switched the damn results, I told you!” “Order! Order in my courtroom,” the judge attempts to regain control. He turns to Victor.
“Mr. Newman, you do realize that if you’re lying about your grandson’s paternity in order to help your daughter win custody, you’re committing perjury,” the judge explains, “and if you’re telling the truth and you did switch the results, you’ve admitted to committing a crime – forgery and tampering with public records.” Victor nods. “Yes, Your Honor,” he replies, “I didn’t make this decision to reveal Reed’s true paternity lightly. I am prepared to face any and all consequences that result from my actions.”
Scene 2
The courtroom has calmed down and the judge is ready to resume the hearing. “Now that I think we’re settled again, I don’t want any more outbursts or interruptions or I’ll throw you all out of the courtroom,” he threatens.
“The babies are coming!” a voice shouts. Everyone turns around to face Mackenzie, who is clearly in distress. “What?” someone calls out. “I’m in labor!” Mackenzie repeats, “The babies… Help me! I need to get to the hospital…” “Mac!” JT rushes over to his girlfriend and the courtroom is once again in a panic.
Scene 3
Paul Williams is sitting at the kitchen table reading the newspaper when his son Ricky Williams comes out of his room. “It’s about time,” Paul comments. Ricky goes to the fridge, grabs a drink, and starts to walk away. “I’m not talking to you anymore,” he says harshly. He’s still upset that Paul kept his mother’s past and whereabouts a secret from him. “You just did,” Paul remarks.
Ricky turns around. “I wanna see her,” he says, obviously speaking of his mother. “Out of the question,” Paul immediately responds, “I mean, there’s no telling how she’d react to that. She might not even know you’re her son. It could give her a setback. It could traumatize you…” “I don’t care,” Ricky insists, “I’m willing to take that chance. She’s my mother…”
Paul’s cell phone rings and he answers it. “Paul Williams,” he says. JT is the caller. “Yeah, I’ll leave right now. I’ll meet you at Memorial,” Paul tells him after JT updates him on Mackenzie’s situation. He hangs up.
“Look, I’ve gotta go,” Paul tells his son, “We’ll finish this later.” “Whatever,” Ricky rolls his eyes. “Be here when I get back,” Paul warns as he heads out the door. Ricky plunks himself down on the sofa as suddenly, there’s a knock on the door. He sighs. “Now what?” he says aloud.
He gets up and answers the door. It’s Abby Carlton.
Scene 4
Katherine Chancellor Murphy and Jill Abbott are together in the living room of the Chancellor Estate. “Have you read those reports I gave you?” Katherine asks. “Not yet,” Jill answers, “It’s on my list.” “Well there’s no time like the present,” Katherine states, “Sit. We have a big meeting coming up. I need you to be apprised to all the major developments since Nikki is off.”
Katherine’s call phone rings. “Speaking of Nikki,” she says as she picks up. “Nikki, darling,” she answers the call, “How was the custody hearing?” “Mackenzie is in labor!” Nikki announces, getting right to the point. “What!? Now!?” Katherine responds, “How?” “There’s no time to explain,” Nikki tells her friend, “Just get yourself to Memorial. And bring Jill with you.” “We’re on our way,” Katherine says. She hangs up. “What is it?” Jill demands. “Mackenzie’s in labor,” Katherine answers, “The twins are coming… Come on.” “Right behind you,” Jill says as they head out of the living room in a hurry.
Scene 5
In the Williams’ Apartment, Abby has just told Ricky everything that happened in the courtroom. “How do you know that he really did it?” Ricky asks. “I mean, he could have been lying to help Victoria, but what if he’s not?” Abby replies, “Then I have a half-brother and he’ll never get to know his real father because of what my other dad did.” “That’s messed up,” Ricky says, shaking his head, “but that’s exactly what I’m going through right now too.” Abby looks confused. “How so?” she asks. “Well, not with my dad,” Ricky clarifies, “With my mother. I found out why she hasn’t been in my life… she is locked up somewhere in some psych ward, and my dad refuses to let me see her.”
“No offense, but there seems to be a history of mental illness in your family,” Abby comments, “with your aunt and all.” “Or maybe we just know what we want and don’t stop until we get it,” Ricky defends his mother and aunt, “Don’t tell me there’s nothing you wouldn’t feel that way about… or no one.” He leans in closer.
Scene 6
After the others have already left the courthouse, Phyllis remains outside of the courtroom. She’s just tried to call Nick again and there was no answer. She dials another number.
“Is my husband there?” Phyllis demands. “No, he’s not, Phyllis,” Sharon answers. “Oh, well, I just thought, normally when he gets distracted, it usually has something to do with you…,” Phyllis states. “Actually, I’ve been trying to get a hold of Nick myself,” Sharon informs Phyllis. “I’m sure you have,” Phyllis comments, “You just can’t leave him alone, can you?”
Daniel Romalotti, Jr. emerges from Sharon’s ensuite bathroom, still dripping wet and wearing only a towel. He just got out of the shower. “Okay, your turn,” he says loudly, not realizing Sharon is on the phone… with his mother. “It’s your mom,” Sharon whispers to Daniel. “Is that Daniel’s voice I hear?” Phyllis asks. “Um, yes,” Sharon confirms nervously, “Daniel is over here… visiting with Noah.” Daniel gives her a thumbs up for covering. “Oh, that… that’s great,” Phyllis responds, sounding very fake, “That’s wonderful…. Um, has Noah talked to his father at all today?” “No, he hasn’t,” Sharon says. “Okay, well, listen… I would really like to get a hold of my husband,” Phyllis speaks in a very condescending tone, “so if he happens to call you or come by the Ranch, please tell him to call me.” “Okay, Phyllis,” Sharon replies in an agitated tone, “Bye.” She hangs up.
Back at the Courthouse, Phyllis is clearly distressed. “Nick, where are you?” she says aloud.
Scene 7
Meanwhile, Daniel and Sharon are still in Sharon’s bedroom. “I gathered all your clothes up and put them in a pile over there,” Sharon points out. “Thanks,” Daniel says softly. “I’m gonna go in the shower now,” Sharon announces, “so you can have some privacy to get dressed…”
Scene 8
Back at the Williams’ Apartment, Ricky takes advantage of being alone with Abby, and decides to put the moves on her. “You know, I’ve been thinking about how close we got back at the pool party,” he says, “I haven’t seen much of you lately. Maybe we can pick up where we left off?” He leans in to kiss her, expecting her to respond the same way she did at the party, when she had initiated the kiss.
This time, Abby pulls away. “You’re a great guy, Ricky,” she tells him, “I just, I can’t do this. I’m sorry.” “Why not?” Ricky asks, confused. “I’m not over Ryder… and I would just end up hurting you if I pretended I am,” Abby rationalizes, “We just got carried away for a few minutes. We were upset about our parents and we don’t want to do anything we’ll regret later.” Ricky calms down. “Yeah, you’re right…,” he agrees. “I gotta go,” Abby suddenly announces, “Thanks for the talk…” She heads out the door in a hurry.
Scene 9
Paul joins JT at the hospital. “Thanks for coming,” JT begins, “I didn’t know who else to call…” “I’m glad you came to me,” Paul tells him, “Sorry I missed the hearing. I wanted to be there, but I’ve had nothing but problems with Ricky lately.” “I thought things were going well,” JT comments. “Yeah, until he started to look into his mother and he found the newspaper archives about how she faked her murder and tried to kill Christine,” Paul reveals. “Well, at least you know he got the investigative gene from you,” JT says. “A chip off the old block, right?” Paul says with a grin, “That’s what I’m afraid of…”
Scene 10
Ricky holds up a business card for a psychiatric institution. “If Aunt Patty is at Walworth, why would you have a card for a place in California?” he asks aloud. He dials the number and a woman answers the phone. “Yes, I’m calling about a patient of yours,” Ricky says, “Isabella Williams, or it might be listed under Isabella Brana?” “We do have an Isabella Brana committed here,” the lady confirms. “She is there?” Ricky says aloud, still in disbelief that he tracked down his mother, “Is she allowed visitors?” “Yes, but no one’s come by to visit her in years,” the lady tells him, “Even her parents have stopped coming.” “Tell her someone will be by really soon to see her,” Ricky replies. “Who am I speaking to?” the lady wonders. “Her son,” Ricky answers.
Scene 11
Victoria and Billy Abbott have returned to Billy’s trailer. “I cannot believe my father!” Victoria vents, “That was his idea of help? You’ve gotta be kidding me. He probably hurt me case even more. Because now the judge will know that everything JT said about him is true!” “That’s Victor for you…,” Billy says, “Always playing with everyone’s lives. Never caring who he hurts… even if it’s his own daughter and grandson.”
Scene 12
Paul joins Jill in the waiting room of the hospital. “You look much too young to be a grandmother,” he begins. Jill smiles. “Why, thank you,” she laughs, “You know, you’re exactly right… I still consider Cane to be my son. And I do consider the twins my grandchildren, even though we’re not related by blood. But biology still counts for something, doesn’t it?” “Of course it does,” Paul agrees. “I guess I just have to accept that I’ll never have answers to the most important questions in my life… who am I really? Why did my parents give me away?”
“I wish there was more I could have done,” Paul replies sympathetically. “You did your best,” Jill says as she turns to walk away.
“Jill?” Paul suddenly calls out without thinking. “Yes?” she turns back. Paul changes his mind. “Nothing…,” he says, “I just, I thought Eileen would have… well,…” “What?” Jill prompts him to tell her what he was going to say. “I thought things would have worked out differently for you two, that’s all,” Paul continues. “I hoped so too,” Jill admits, “But she wasn’t my mother. She was just another dead end…” She walks away.
“That’s where you’re wrong,” Paul whispers aloud, “I just wish I could tell you that…”
Scene 13
Sharon emerges from her bedroom after getting dressed and blowdrying her hair. Daniel is sitting in the hallway outside of her room. “You’re still here?” she comments. “Yeah, I mean, I hope that’s not a problem,” Daniel replies. “No, it’s fine,” Sharon tells him, “I just, I wasn’t expecting you to stay around.” “Well, I didn’t want to just leave without saying anything,” Daniel says softly, “I’m sorry… about before. I didn’t mean for things to go that far…” “It’s okay,” Sharon says. “Are you sure?” Daniel asks. “Yeah, I’m the one that started it,” Sharon admits. “No, it’s been building up for a long time,” Daniel tells her, “I think we both know that, even if we didn’t want to acknowledge it.”
Sharon nods. “Well, we can’t,” she decides, “Not ever again.” “I know,” Daniel agrees, “I mean, you’re Noah’s mom!” “No one can ever find out what happened between us,” Sharon insists. “I know,” Daniel says again.
“What’s going on out here?” a voice asks. Sharon and Daniel turn to see Noah Newman.
Scene 14
Phyllis is in the courthouse parking lot, about to leave. She notices Nick’s car in the parking lot and takes a moment to stare at it.
Roseanne Ryerson is behind her. “Is everything okay?” she asks Phyllis. “You remember my husband, right? Nick Newman?” Phyllis inquires. “Yes,” Roseanne nods. “You didn’t happen to see him here, at the Courthouse today, did you?” Phyllis follows up. “No, I haven’t seen him at all…,” Roseanne lies. “Thanks,” Phyllis replies. “Sure,” Roseanne says as she starts to walk off. She turns back to Phyllis. “I’m sure everything will work itself out,” she tells Phyllis. “I hope so,” Phyllis comments.
Scene 15
At the hospital, JT has just told Paul everything that went down at the custody hearing. “So Victor claims now that Reed is really Brad’s son?” Paul clarifies, astonished by what JT has told him, “Unbelievable… and convenient timing, wouldn’t you say?” JT nods. “I’m gonna do the DNA test today while I’m here so that we can end this once and for all,” he announces.
Suddenly, Nikki approaches JT and Paul. “JT, I just want you to know that, what Victor did, I think it’s appalling,” she offers her support. “If he did it…,” JT adds, still holding onto some hope that Victor was lying. Nikki frowns. “JT…,” she says, “Remember when Victoria was in her coma, it was you and Victor against me and Brad. You and Victor wanted to save Victoria; Brad was helping me fight to save Reed, as heartbreaking as it was for me.” “So you think that Victor initially did this to discount Brad’s testimony and help his own case?” Paul questions.
“That could have been part of it,” Nikki admits, “But Victor hated Brad. I don’t think he needed much more reason than that…” “So you think Victor really did it?” JT questions, “You think he changed the results and that I’m not really Reed’s father?” “I do,” Nikki confirms, a sympathetic tone to her voice.
Scene 16
Ricky has just packed a backpack and is in the process of printing a plane ticket back to California off the computer.
Scene 17
Paul approaches Nikki in the hospital waiting room. “Don’t you tell me ‘I told you so’ about Victor, please,” Nikki requests. “There’s nothing I can tell you about Victor that you don’t already know,” Paul says.
“I am so furious with him!” Nikki vents, “It just makes me think… can I really trust him? I mean, he never learns… Look at how he kept his involvement with Patty secret for months, even when he knew that she was starting to unravel. And to think that he’s kept this secret about Reed’s paternity secret for years, never once hinted about anything like this, it makes me wonder…” “What other secrets he might be keeping,” Paul finishes her sentence. “Mmhmm,” Nikki nods.
Scene 18
Daniel and Sharon react to Noah seeing them together in the hallway. “Noah… I told you to stay in your room,” Sharon reminds her son. She’s clearly jittery. “I heard voices,” Noah defends himself, “I wanted to know who was here.” “Well, now that you know, you can go back in your room,” Sharon orders, “Don’t forget you’re still grounded.” “Um, we’ll catch up later,” Daniel tells his step-brother.
“Why is your hair all wet?” Noah asks. “Oh, um, there was wet snow when I was outside,” Daniel quickly makes something up. “I didn’t see anything,” Noah comments, “I just looked out my window a few minutes ago.” “Yeah, well, it was just over just as soon as it started,” Daniel replies, perhaps speaking of his fling with Sharon. There seems to be a hint of anger in his voice.
Scene 19
Michael exits the courthouse and notices Phyllis in the parking lot. “What are you doing still here?” he asks. “This is Nick’s car…,” Phyllis points out, “He never came into the courthouse.” “You don’t think something happened to him?” Michael questions. “That’s what all signs are pointing to,” Phyllis reveals, a level of panic in her voice, “Nick got to the courthouse, but he never came inside. His car is here; he isn’t. And if he had to leave, he would have notified someone.” “So no one has heard from him?” Michael asks. Phyllis shakes her head. “No one has heard from him all day,” she says, “Not Sharon; not Noah. And today is a day that he would want to visit them.” “What’s today?” Michael asks. “Cassie’s birthday,” Phyllis answers. “Oh,” Michael remarks. “Yeah,” Phyllis says. “So maybe Nick just started thinking about Cassie and he decided to take a walk, you know, for some alone time,” Michael theorizes. “Or maybe something happened to him,” Phyllis returns to her worst fear, “Don’t forget, I’ve been being terrorized for months. Maybe whoever has been after me decided to hurt my husband.” Michael has an idea. “Wait a minute, Phyllis!” he says, “All of the things that have been happening to you are connected to your past, right? So have you ever done anything like this before?” “You mean, have I ever kidnapped anyone before?” Phyllis clarifies. “Yes,” Michael says. Phyllis has a realization. “Oh my God. Of course, I have, Michael,” she says, Remember that time that I had you kidnapped…”
Scene 20
Jill approaches Katherine and Nikki, who are talking in the hospital waiting room. “For heaven’s sakes, has anyone called Lily and Neil?” Katherine asks Nikki. “Of course, we did,” Nikki answers, “They’re on their way.”
“You can leave now, Nikki,” Jill says very rudely, “This is for family only.” “Oh, nonsense, Jill, I want Nikki here,” Katherine defends her friend, “Now if it hadn’t been for her, you wouldn’t have even known that Mackenzie was in the hospital giving birth to your grandchildren. Is that any way to treat her?”
“No, it’s alright. I’ll leave,” Nikki agrees, “I just wanted to know that Mackenzie and JT were okay. Now, I have my own family that I need to be with…” “Well, don’t let us keep you,” Jill comments. Katherine gives her another warning look before proceeding to hug Nikki. “Call me later,” she tells her friend. “I will,” Nikki agrees. As she walks off, she and Jill exchange glances.
Once Nikki is out of sight, Katherine turns to Jill. “What the hell is wrong with you?” she chastises her. “Katherine, I know how you feel about that woman,” Jill answers, “but believe me, I will never feel anything but contempt for her…”
Scene 21
Elsewhere in the waiting room, JT rejoins Paul.
“JT!?” Paul rushes over to him.
Scene 22
Nikki arrives at Victoria’s. Billy answers the door and lets Nikki inside. Victoria, who has been crying on the couch, rushes over to her mother and gives her a hug. “Oh, mom…,” she whispers. “I know, baby,” Nikki comforts her daughter, “I know it’s hard, but everything’s gonna be alright.”
Scene 23
Victor arrives back at the Main House on the Newman Ranch. He slams the front door and walks into the living room. “Abby?” he calls out. Sharon comes downstairs. “Victor… you’re back already?” she gasps, “How did the hearing go?”
Victor ignores the question. “Is Abby here?” he inquires, “I want to talk to her.” “No, she hasn’t been home,” Sharon answers. “Noah?” Victor follows up. “He’s upstairs,” Sharon replies, “He’s grounded, though.” “I need him to call Abby,” Victor explains, “She bolted out of the courtroom so fast… she won’t answer her phone… I need to know where she is…” Sharon senses his concern. “What happened in court?” she asks, “Is everything okay?” “That’s what I have to find out…,” Victor tells her.
Scene 24
Abby arrives at a run-down motel and knocks on one of the doors. Ryder Callahan answers. Before he can say anything, Abby hugs him. “I need you right now…,” she cries, “Just as a friend. Can I come in?” “Okay…,” Ryder agrees. As Abby comes inside, Ryder closes the door, leaving her alone with him in his motel room…

Scene 1
At the Genoa City Courthouse, Alex Perez has just exposed Victoria Newman’s secret marriage to Billy Abbott. The spectators – Michael Baldwin, Victor Newman, Nikki Newman, Abby Carlton, Phyllis Newman, Mackenzie Browning, Roseanne Ryerson, and especially JT Hellstrom – all look shocked.
“Is it true, Victoria?” JT stands up to ask. He has a disgusted look on his face. Victoria has tears in her eyes. She glances back at her parents, who are just as furious. “Don’t look at your father!” JT yells, “He can’t get you out of this one. Now, are you really married to Billy or not?”
Scene 2
Meanwhile, at the Newman Ranch, Sharon Newman is also engaging in a verbal combat with her teenaged son Noah Newman who was suspended for getting into a fight with Kyle Abbott. “Get up to your room!” Sharon orders, “I don’t want you to come out. I don’t want to see you for the rest of the night!” “Fine by me!” Noah remarks.
As Noah stomps his way up the stairs, Sharon’s eyes fill with tears. “Noah, why today?” she whispers aloud, “Why did this have to happen today, of all days?”
Scene 3
Jack Abbott has picked up his son Kyle Abbott from school and they’ve just returned to the Abbott Manor. Jack slams the front door and Kyle throws down his backpack. “Wait until I tell your mother about this,” Jack snaps, “You know that school has a no-tolerance policy for fighting. Do you know how many strings I had to pull so you wouldn’t be expelled?” “Sorry to be such an inconvenience,” Kyle replies sarcastically. He clearly doesn’t care at all.
“Go up to your room now!” Jack orders, “You have done enough damage for one day.” Kyle turns back to his father. “Jack, you have no idea all the damage I’ve caused,” he teases.
Scene 4
Inside the courtroom, Abby is texting Billy, telling him to get to the courthouse immediately. At the front of the courtroom, Victoria answers JT, who has demanded answers about Alex’s accusation. “I got our divorce papers,” she stammers, “I was worried about losing Reed… I just wanted to get away. I met Billy at the airport. We went to Jamaica. It just all happened so fast…” JT shakes his head. “So you married Billy on the day that our divorce became final?” he realizes. There’s contempt in his voice.
“I was drunk! We both were!” Victoria shouts, not realizing how much she is hurting her case. “Oh, that makes it sound so much better!” JT shouts back at her, “You better just shut up right now, Victoria, before you make yourself look any more pathetic than you already have.”
Scene 5
Diane Jenkins is at the Athletic Club, speaking on her cell phone to an unknown individual. “You’ll be pleased with the progress we’ve made,” she informs the caller, “It’s almost ready for occupation… I’m heading over there later today to oversee everything myself… I’m thrilled to be given this opportunity… Yes, Mr. McCall. You too. Bye.”
As Diane hangs up, she receives another incoming call. It’s Jack. She picks up. “Jack, is there a problem?” she asks without greeting him. “Yes. A big one!” Jack states, “Our son is suspended from school.” “For what?” Diane reacts. “Just come home,” Jack orders, not wanting to get into it on the phone. “I’m on my way,” Diane agrees.
Jack hangs up and turns to Kyle. “Now, what were you talking about before when you said I have no idea how much damage you caused?” he inquires, “What else have you done that I don’t know about?” Kyle smirks. “The Newman custody case is going on today, right?” he asks. “Yes,” Jack replies. He’s confused as to why Kyle is interested. “What does that have to do with you?” Jack follows up. “You’ll hear about it soon enough…,” Kyle says cryptically, speaking of the fact that he tipped Alex off about Billy and Victoria’s marriage.
Scene 6
Back at the Courthouse, Victoria knows how angry Victor is at her deception. She wants to keep him on her side. “Daddy, I…,” she stammers. Victor cuts her off. “You have been carrying on with this sleezeball behind my back for months!” he yells, “You married him! You married Billy Abbott, for heaven’s sakes? What the hell were you thinking?” Michael tries to calm things down. “Victor, with all due respect, this is hardly the time…,” he says. Victor ignores his lawyer and friend. He turns back to Victoria.
“You come to me for my help and meanwhile you’re going to bed with this Abbott loser!” he shouts, “You know how much I despise that arrogant bastard. He has tormented this family over and over again printing stories in his filthy rag.” “I know, but that’s business,” Victoria defends Billy, “Just like you always say.” “There’s no buts,” Victor tells his daughter, “This is the worst kind of betrayal imaginable! I will never forget this, you got it?” “Daddy!” Victoria calls out as Victor turns away. “Don’t ‘Daddy’ me,” Victor mumbles as he walks off.
Nikki approaches Victoria. She’s more supportive than Victor is, but she’s clearly disappointed in her daughter, as well. “I’ll talk to your father,” she mutters, “but listen, Sweetheart, if you lose your son, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself…”
Scene 7
Sharon picks up the photo of Cassie Newman on the mantle of the fireplace. It’s her deceased daughter’s birthday today.
There’s a knock on the front door. Sharon takes a moment to collect herself. “Coming!” she shouts. She opens the door and sees Daniel Romalotti, Jr. “Hey, what brings you by?” Sharon asks, trying to put on a happy face. “Just checkin up on ya,” Daniel tells her. He knows what day it is. “I’m fine,” Sharon lies. “No you’re not,” Daniel sees through her. “You’re right,” Sharon admits, “I’m not…” She motions for Daniel to come inside.
Scene 8
Eden Gerick is calling her [ex?] boyfriend Noah Newman. There’s no answer. She hangs up the phone as her sister-in-law and guardian Lauren Fenmore Baldwin returns home. “You’re home early,” Eden states. “Yeah, I asked Roxanne to cover for the rest of the day,” Lauren reveals, “There’s something that’s been bothering me that I wanted to come and clear up.” “What is it?” Eden asks.
“You know, this isn’t easy for me to say,” Lauren begins, “but I think I owe it to you to let you know that there’s some unfortunate rumors going around about you.” Eden perks up but doesn’t say anything. “I was at the Boutique and some girls were in there,” Lauren continues. “What did they say?” Eden wants to know. “Oh, it’s totally ridiculous,” Lauren replies vaguely, “I know you would never do what they said you did, but I don’t think your name should be being tarnished in the way that it is.” “What did they say?” Eden asks again, growing more frantic.
“Well, you know, they said some things about you and Kyle Abbott… sleeping together,” Lauren announces with a laugh, “I know how catty teenaged girls can be…” “No, it is true,” Eden confesses, catching Lauren off-guard. “What?” Lauren reacts. “I said… it’s true,” Eden repeats, regret in her voice and embarrassment on her face, “I cheated on Noah. With Kyle…”
Scene 9
Diane returns to the Abbott Manor and finds Jack pacing in the living room. “So what’s the trouble?” she demands. “Another fight involving Kyle and Noah,” Jack reveals, “This one took place on school property. Hence, why our son is suspended for the rest of the week.” Diane sighs and takes a seat on the couch. “What were they fighting about this time?” she asks.
“It appears the night of that party that Kyle and Ricky threw here, our son became ‘involved’ with a girl,” Jack states. “What do you mean ‘involved?’” Diane questions, “Kyle is too young for a girlfriend.” “Diane, he’s 17,” Jack says, “He’s practically an adult.”
Kyle comes into the room, having heard the tail-end of the conversation. ”Yeah, I’m 17,” he echoes Jack, “Practically an adult. For once, you should listen to Daddy. And Mother, just so you know, I don’t have ‘girlfriends.’ I have ‘hook-ups.’ That way, I avoid all that sentimental attachment crap.” “I thought I told you to go to your room!” Jack tells his son, “Oh hell, it doesn’t matter. I suppose you should be here to explain yourself…” He turns back to Diane. “Anyways, the point is that the girl in question here was Eden,” Jack informs her. “Noah’s girlfriend,” Diane realizes. “That’s right,” Jack confirms. “So you two are fighting over this girl?” Diane interrogates her son. “Not fighting over her,” Kyle says, “Like I said, I don’t do girlfriends. I don’t want her anymore. She wanted me. I used her for one night and that was it. If Noah couldn’t handle that, it’s his problem. Not mine…”
Scene 10
Back on the Newman Ranch, Sharon and Daniel have been discussing Daniel. “I wish things had turned out differently,” Sharon says, “that she was still here.” “I do too,” Daniel echoes. “We’ve come a long way, haven’t we?” Sharon asks rhetorically. “Yeah, I remember when you couldn’t stand the sight of me…,” Daniel recalls.
Sharon flashes back to May 2005. “If you wanna blame someone for Cassie’s death, you blame Daniel,” Nick had told her. Sharon then remembers confronting Daniel in the hospital when Cassie was in critical condition. “You have no idea how sorry I am,” Daniel had apologized, but Sharon wouldn’t listen. “I could just kill you for what you’ve done to this family. You don’t deserve to live,” she had told him. Then, she had lunged at Daniel and shouted “Get out of here” as Nick held her back.
“Cassie’s death changed all of our lives,” Daniel states, back in the present, “It’s what started everything. It’s why you and Nick used to hate me, it’s what ended up bringing me and Noah together.” “Nick and your mom together,” Sharon adds. “Yeah, in a strange way, it brought us all together. We’re all connected through Cassie. You, me, Noah, my mom, and Nick…”
Sharon nods. “I know he had the hearing,” she begins, “but that’s why I’m surprised I haven’t heard anything from Nick yet…”
Scene 11
Nicholas Newman has been kidnapped and is being held captive in an abandoned warehouse somewhere outside of Genoa City. He’s tied to a chair, unable to move, trapped in the dark, cold building. “Hello! Is anyone out there?” Nick shouts at the top of his lungs, “Can anyone hear me? Help!?” No one heard him earlier, but Nick tries again. “Hello!? Anyone! I need help!”
Scene 12
At the back of the courtroom, JT and Mackenzie react to the news of Victoria and Billy’s marriage. “I can’t believe it,” JT says, flabbergasted. “Victoria and Billy…,” Mackenzie says, shaking her head, “I never would have seen that coming.”
JT thinks logically. “You gotta admit: it does help our case, though…,” he realizes, “I just wish Alex would have given me some warning instead of blindsiding me along with everyone else.” “I suppose she wanted the judge to see all of our reactions,” Mackenzie theorizes. “Speaking of reactions, how are you doing with this whole thing?” JT asks his girlfriend, “I know Michael’s interrogation was rough on you, and now this news about Billy and Victoria came out of nowhere… so, are you okay?” Mackenzie nods. “Yeah, I’ll be fine,” she says, “We’ll be fine… the twins and I. We’ll be okay.” “Good,” JT replies. He puts his hand on her shoulder.
As JT walks off, Mackenzie slowly readjusts herself. She experiences a sharp pain, although she tries not to show it.
Roseanne approaches Alex. “How did you pull that off?” she asks, impressed. “The information arrived at just the right time,” Alex replies. “Apparently,” Roseanne agrees, “I had no idea of any of this when I was evaluating Ms. Newman, not that it would have changed anything.” Alex doesn’t say anything. “Now they’ll have no grounds to challenge my recommendations,” Roseanne continues, “Your client should have no problem being granted full custody of his son…”
Scene 13
At the Baldwins’ Apartment, Lauren and Eden continue to discuss Eden’s infidelity. “I can’t believe this,” Lauren reacts, “You hate Kyle!” “Yeah, with a passion,” Eden admits, “And that’s the problem. Everything about him repulsed me. But at the same time, it also kindof attracted me to him. It’s sick. I can’t explain it.” “Mmhmm,” Lauren nods to let Eden know she’s still listening.
“I know he doesn’t care about me,” Eden confesses, “He just wanted to use me to make Noah mad.” “So Noah knows?” Lauren deduces. “Yeah. I don’t know how,” Eden replies, “but the two of them got into it today at school. Noah was furious. He won’t even talk to me.” “Can you blame him?” Lauren responds, “I mean, it’s understandable that he needs some time. This was his arch-enemy that you betrayed him with…” “I know it was a mistake,” Eden whines, “I gave in to temptation and I shouldn’t have, but Noah is the one that I want. Not Kyle. And I have to make him realize that…”
Scene 14
Noah is in his bedroom. There is loud, ‘angry’ music blaring as he rips down all the photos of himself and Eden that were plastered on his mirror and wall.
Scene 15
Nick is still locked up in the abandoned warehouse and his thoughts drift to his daughter Cassie.
He remembers the lullaby that he sang to her as she was on her deathbed. He remembers the events that had led up to her accident. “So I think we should let Cassie hang out with her friends tonight,” Nick had told Sharon. “Grounded is grounded,” Sharon had held firm to her beliefs, “And I don’t think that we should give in just because she wants us to.”
[Time cut]
“I did what you told me to do,” Sharon had informed Nick after changing her mind. “You gave Cassie permission to go out tonight?” Nick realized.
[Time cut]
Then the unthinkable had happened. Nick had received a phone call. “Oh God, it’s Cassie,” Sharon had deduced, “What happened? Tell me what happened.” “There was an accident,” Nick stated as he picked up his coat.
“Happy birthday, Cassie…,” Nick whispers.
Scene 16
Victor and Nikki discuss Victoria’s marriage by the courtroom entrance. “It’s disgusting what our daughter has done,” Victor comments, “Absolutely, totally disgusting.” Nikki nods her head. “I know, but Victor, you promised her that you would help her,” she gently reminds him, “This is your child, your oldest daughter. Regardless of how you feel about Billy and what our daughter did, Victoria… she’s a good mother and she doesn’t deserve to have her son taken away from her.” “I don’t want that arrogant bastard Billy Abbott to be anywhere around my grandson,” Victor admits. “We’ll deal with that later,” Nikki tells him, “Right now, we just need to make sure that Victoria regains custody of Reed. So Victor, what are you going to do to help our daughter?” Victor sighs. “I told you that you aren’t going to like it,” he says, “But I’ll do what must be done… no matter the consequences…”
Scene 17
In the living room of the Abbott Manor, Jack and Diane continue to discuss Kyle’s behavior. “We have to deal with the root of Kyle’s problems,” Jack states, “It’s a new year. I want to start it off right where my son is concerned.” “It means a lot to hear you say that,” Diane tells him. “I accept full responsibility for getting Kyle to the point that he’s at now. But it is not a point of no return,” Jack states, “Let’s try family counselling… From here on out, we do this together…” “That’s right,” Diane nods. She reaches over and gives Jack a hug.
Kyle is listening in on the conversation. He peaks in, and Diane sees him. Instead of yelling at him and sending him back up to his room, she subtly gives him a ‘thumbs up’ sign. Kyle winks back at his mother. Interesting…
Scene 18
The judge bangs his gavel. “Okay, let’s all have a seat and get settled back in,” he orders. Victoria returns to the stand and the judge begins to question her. “Ms. Newman, you do realize that you’re under oath?” he reminds her. “Yes, your Honor,” Victoria replies. “Why didn’t you disclose your marital status to the courts earlier?” the judge demands, “Everyone has been calling you Miss or Ms. Newman, nor Mrs. Abbott. Ms. Ryerson was unaware of your marriage the entire time that she was evaluating your child’s custody situation…”
Michael steps forward. “Ms. New—Mrs. Abbott, why don’t you tell the courts why you thought it was best to conceal your marriage?” he encourages Victoria. “Because I made a mistake,” Victoria admits, “The way that the marriage happened. I wasn’t in the right state of mind. I wanted to end it right away… as soon as I came to my senses. But I thought if we tried to get an annulment, someone would find out and then it would be used against me.” “So you and Mr. Abbott decided to wait on it... to see what would happen?” the judge clarifies. “Yes,” Victoria confirms, “Your Honor, I didn’t want you to do exactly what you’re threatening now… To take my son away from me permanently.”
“What happens now… that your marriage has been exposed?” the judge asks, “Do you and Mr. Abbott go through with the annulment? Would he become a step-father to your son?” Billy Abbott walks in to the courtroom just as Victoria is being asked these questions. “I… I don’t know,” Victoria stutters, “I haven’t thought that far ahead. I didn’t plan on any of this getting out.”
“Your deception has given me a very strong reason to rule in favor of the child’s father,” the judge informs Victoria. Victor steps up. “That’s where you’re wrong, Your Honor,” he states. The judge turns his head. “I beg your pardon?” he says. “Please, Your Honor, if I may speak. I think it’s time that the truth be known,” Victor announces without the judge’s permission, “Jeffrey Todd Hellstrom is not the child’s father, and has never been… My grandson’s biological father is that sunnuvabitch, Bradley Carlton.” Everyone in the courtroom gasps.
Scene 19
Sharon and Daniel are now upstairs in the Main House on the Newman Ranch. Sharon bangs on the wall. “Noah, turn that down!” she shouts over top of the music he has blaring. She turns to Daniel. “He can’t even hear me,” she says. “Should I talk to him while I’m here?” Daniel asks, “I mean… suspended from school. That’s a big deal. Maybe I can help.” “I appreciate it, but I think we should just leave him alone right now,” Sharon says, “He’s really angry because of everything with Kyle and Eden.” “I can’t believe that,” Daniel comments, “I know how much Eden and Noah care for each other.”
They continue to walk down the hallway and Sharon peaks into her bedroom. “Oh, my bed is looking so comfortable right now,” she comments, “I just want this day to be over with… I should have been spending it with my family. Instead, I’m just trying to find a way to kill the time.” “Well, in case you haven’t noticed, you’re not alone,” Daniel informs her, “So maybe we could kill that time, with each other…” Sharon giggles. “I know, it sounds crazy, right?” Daniel realizes, “but we had a good time playing basketball…”
As if on cue, they both lean in and kiss one another on the lips. Neither one initiated it… there had been a mutual attraction building for a long time…
Finally, they both come to their senses and pull away. Daniel wipes his mouth. “That was stupid,” he comments with a smirk across his face. Sharon manages a slight smile. “Yeah, stupid,” she nods, but despite that, they find themselves kissing again. More passionately. They stop. “We are such idiots,” Daniel says with a laugh. He kisses her neck. “I don’t want you to stop,” Sharon moans. “Who says I want to?” Daniel tells her. Their lips meet again.
Now, Sharon pins Daniel against the wall. “I’ve been so lonely for so long,” she whispers, “We both have…” “Not tonight,” Daniel states. She starts to undue the buttons of his shirt. Daniel has a realization. “Noah’s right next door,” he says. “He has his music turned up,” Sharon responds, in between kisses, “We’ll be quiet…” “Victor, Nikki… Abby?” Daniel asks softly. “No, they’re all still at the Courthouse,” Sharon informs Daniel. She kisses him again.
Scene 20
After Victor’s claim that JT is not Reed’s father, the following montage of clips is played as Noah’s “angry music” continues on in the background:
-Abby running out of the courthouse in tears…
-Nikki turning away from Victor in disgust…
-JT approaching Victor to fight him, with Michael stepping between them.
-Victoria running into Billy’s arms after being questioned on the stand.
-Mackenzie sitting at the back of the courtroom, very pregnant, watching helplessly as JT’s world falls apart in front of her eyes.
-Phyllis calling Nick and still getting no answer.
-Roseanne watching her intently from the other side of the courtroom, just to see the look of concern on Phyllis’s face.
Scene 21
-As the music continues, Nick is continuing to struggle to break free of the ropes that are tying him to his chair. It’s dark and he’s tired. Finally, he realizes there’s no escape and gives up.
Scene 22
-Noah’s phone lights up, indicating an incoming call. He checks the caller ID and sees that it’s Eden calling. Still very upset with her, he throws his cell phone out the window, shattering the glass.
Scene 23
-Eden puts down the phone and Lauren consoles her.
Scene 24
-Meanwhile, as the Newman family is crumbling and Phyllis, Nick, and Noah are all lost and alone, Sharon and Daniel continue to find comfort in each other. They are now in bed together, kissing passionately, their clothes scattered all over the room. Noah’s loud music continues to play. Although he’s in the room next door, he has no idea what’s going on between his mother and his step-brother…

Scene 1
At the Courthouse, Mackenzie Browning has taken the stand to support her boyfriend JT Hellstrom’s quest for custody of his son Reed. JT’s lawyer Alex Perez is about to begin questioning her.
“Miss Browning, let me start with the question that’s on everyone’s mind: You’re expecting…,” Alex points out the obvious. “Well, yes and no,” Mackenzie attempts to clarify, “I’m serving as a surrogate mother… the twins are due in a few weeks.” “So it would be a fair statement to say that you enjoy being around children?” Alex follows up. “Oh, yes. Children bring me lots of joy,” Mackenzie answers. “So even when they’re not your biological children, you treat them as if they’re your own. You take care of them, you nurture them. You love them…,” Alex makes her point, “And that’s how you treat Mr. Hellstrom’s son?” “Yes,” Mackenzie says, “I know I’m not his real mother, but I am there for him when she isn’t…”
Scene 2
Jana Hawkes Fisher is alone in her apartment. Her estranged husband Kevin is away on a business trip and Jana can’t thinking about the kiss she received from Scott Grainger, Jr.
“What’s that one?” Jana had asked, pointing to an orange-colored fruit in Scott’s fruit bowl. “Cantaloupe,” Scott answered, “It’s got a very strong taste…” “The old Jana probably wouldn’t have liked that,” Jana admitted, “But my preferences have changed since the aneurism. I don’t like the same things anymore. I like things that are strong.” Scott smiled. “Well, then here… try it,” he encouraged her. Jana took a bite of the piece of cantaloupe. “Mmm, delicious,” she decided. “You, um, have some on your lip,” Scott informed her as he wipes her mouth with a napkin. “Did you get it?” Jana had asked. As they stared into each other’s eyes, Scott had suddenly leaned in and kissed Jana. She had kissed him back.
Jana picks up the photo of her wedding to Kevin and stares at it, trying to find a memory as vivid and meaningful as the one she had shared with Scott. Nothing comes to mind. “Damn it! Why can’t I remember!” Jana shouts. She slams the picture down on the table, shattering the glass picture frame.
Scene 3
Back at the Courthouse, Michael begins cross-examining Mackenzie. “Miss Browning, how would you describe your relationship with Mr. Hellstrom?” he inquires. “Very loving, supportive…,” Mackenzie says, “We have a ling history together. We understand each other. We complement one another well. We’re a good fit.” “Mmhmm,” Michael nods. “We’ve talked about moving in together,” Mackenzie adds. “You’ve lived together before, haven’t you?” Michael asks. “Yes, we did,” Mackenzie confirms, “There was a time many years ago where I was pregnant and we shared a loft together, yes.” Michael takes a step forward. “So, as a matter of fact, you’ve tried this whole ‘playing House’ thing before, and how did it work out?” he demands. Mackenzie hesitates. “I had a miscarriage and we decided to end things,” she explains. “Because of the miscarriage?” Michael prompts her to expand. “Because I wasn’t ready to be totally committed to him at the time,” Mackenzie admits. “But you are now?” Michael questions. “Yes,” Mackenzie states.
“Okay, but at the time, you and Mr. Hellstrom went your separate ways… and Mr. Hellstrom went on to marry Ms. Newman and have the child whose custody is in dispute today,” Michael narrates. “Right,” Mackenzie confirms.
“So what if you and Mr. Hellstrom were to continue your relationship, move in together, and again, you decided that you weren’t ready to totally commit to him?” Michael asks, “What would happen then, Miss Browning, because this time, and I say this with deepest sympathies for your previous loss, there’s a child in the picture…” “I just told you that that wouldn’t happen,” Mackenzie insists. “But how can you be sure?” Michael presses, “Haven’t you done this before?” “Done what?” Mackenzie retorts. “Objection!” Alex shouts, “Mr. Baldwin is badgering the witness!” “Mr. Baldwin,” the judge begins, “If you have a point, make it.”
Michael nods. “Alright,” he says, “Do you have commitment issues, Miss Browning?” “Your Honor!” Alex shouts again. “I’ll allow it,” the judge tells Alex, “I want to hear her response.” “Shall I repeat the question?” Michael asks Mackenzie. “No,” Mackenzie says, “Um… you might say that I’ve had some problems with commitments in the past, but that’s only because I knew it wasn’t right for me at the time.” “But, this time, being with Mr. Hellstrom is right for you?” Michael clarifies. “Yes,” Mackenzie replies.
Scene 4
Jana is trying to clean up the glass from the picture frame when there is a knock on the door. “Come in!” Jana shouts, unaware that it’s Scott at the door. “I’m sorry,” he apologizes, “but I don’t think I can stay away…” Jana doesn’t speak.
“Your picture,” Scott says, noticing the shattered frame on the wedding photo. “I didn’t do it on purpose,” Jana states, “It was an accident…” “Here, let me get it for you,” Scott volunteers. He bends down to pick up the glass. “No, I think you better…,” Jana begins, but she’s cut off by Scott. “Ow,” he exclaims, having cut his finger on a shard of glass.
“Here… give me your hand,” Jana offers. “No, it’s okay,” Scott tells her. Jana grabs his hand.
Scene 5
Devon Hamilton Winters is at Indigo, his adoptive father’s nightclub. He’s on the phone with someone. “Neil, I told you. Roxy and I have everything covered for tonight,” he assures the caller, who is evidently Neil Winters, the owner of Indigo. “You have a meeting and then you’re gonna be at Lily’s… You already told me all of this… Mmhmmm… Yeah, you appreciate it. Short notice… I know. ” Devon takes a moment to look around the club, which is filled with patrons. “Yeah, actually, you know, I’m kinda glad that you asked me to run the place tonight. I’ve forgotten how much I enjoy Indigo.” He hangs up the phone. “Yeah, I could definitely get used to this…,” he whispers aloud.
Scene 6
Michael paces around the courtroom for a few moments. “Let’s go back to the first time that you and Mr. Hellstrom broke up,” he finally says. He’s building towards a big reveal. “While Mr. Hellstrom was married to Ms. Newman, where did you go?” Michael asks. “To Darfur,” Mackenzie answers. “To Darfur?” Michael reacts, “That’s a long way to go to escape from your problems…” “I wasn’t escaping from my problems,” Mackenzie tells him, “I was doing relief work.” “But at some point, you ran into a former high school classmate, by some happenstance, who also happened to be doing relief work in Darfur,” Michael says, “Isn’t that correct?” “Yes,” Mackenzie confirms. “What happened?” Michael probes. “We got engaged, and we were planning to move to Washington, DC,” Mackenzie admits. “And yet here you are, pregnant, unmarried, still in Genoa City, and dating Mr. Hellstrom,” Michael states, “so how did that happen?” “I broke off the engagement,” Mackenzie reveals. “You did?” Michael clarifies. “Yes,” Mackenzie repeats. “Because it wasn’t, as you said, ‘right’?” Michael demands. “Yes,” Mackenzie nods.
Michael continues to pace. “How do you know what’s ‘right’?” he suddenly asks. “Did you think you would back out of the engagement when you accepted his proposal? Because it seems to me, since you said yes, you must have thought at the time, that that was ‘right’ for you?” “I suppose so,” Mackenzie contends, “but that was just one time…”
“Oh, no, Miss Browning. If only it were just one time…,” Michael continues to make his point, “You left town when your ever-so-brief marriage to Billy didn’t work out,” Michael reminds her, “You came back. You bought Crimson Lights Coffee House. How long after was it that you took off yet again?” “Your Honor, Mr. Baldwin is still badgering the witness!” Alex insists. “Mr. Baldwin, you’re treading on thin ice here,” the judge reprimands him. “I promise, Your Honor, I have a point to make,” Michael insists. He turns back to Mackenzie.
Scene 7
Jana bandages Scott’s finger. “There… good as knew,” she says, “Now, I’d like you to leave.” “Before I go, there’s something I came to tell you,” Scott informs her, “Something I need to make clear. About how I feel about you…” “You already told me how you feel…,” Jana replies, “and to be honest, I’m just confused about the whole thing. I can’t tell you what I feel right now because I’m not sure what I feel. I think, I just need some more time. Can you give me some space?” “Yes,” Scott agrees, “I think so. I mean, it’ll be hard, but if that’s what you need, I’ll try.”
Scene 8
Michael continues to cross-examine Mackenzie. “Miss Browning, after you broke off the engagement to your classmate in Darfur, you started dating another high school classmate. That you had previously married,” Michael says, “Is that accurate?” “We were only married a few hours because we were given false information that we were related to each other, but yes,” Mackenzie answers. “And what happened to that relationship on the second go-around?” Michael inquires. “We broke up,” Mackenzie reveals. “Because it wasn’t ‘right’ again?” Michael probes. “No, because he didn’t agree with my wanting to be a surrogate,” Mackenzie responds.
Alex interrupts again. “How is any of this relevant to the proceedings at hand?” she demands. “Mr. Baldwin…?” the judge urges Michael to answer, “I’m growing tired of this line of questioning myself.” Michael sighs. “Don’t you see where I’m going with this, Your Honor? There is a list a mile long of instances where Miss Browning has proven non-committal and unstable. This is a predictable pattern with her. I fear for the well-being of the child if he is placed permanently with Mr. Hellstrom and Miss Browning is allowed to continue to develop a maternal relationship with him.” “That’s ridiculous!” Mackenzie interjects. “Is it?” Michael questions, “can you honestly tell me that you are 100% committed to helping raise Mr. Hellstrom’s child when every indication from your past suggests that you just take on some responsibility to feel better about yourself, and then after you’re finished, you take off and move on to the next best thing.” “It’s not like that at all!” Mackenzie shouts. “I think what you’ve already said speaks very differently,” Michael concludes, “That’s all, Your Honor.”
As Mackenzie steps down from the stand, a tear rolls down her cheek and she’s in pain, although she’s trying to hide it…
Scene 9
The custody hearing continues. Victoria, Michael, Victor, Nikki, Phyllis, Abby, JT, Alex, Mackenzie, and Roseanne are all present. “Ms. Perez, call your next witness,” the judge instructs. “That’s all,” Alex informs him, “I have no other witnesses.” “Very well,” the judge nods his head, “Mr. Baldwin, you may begin to question your witnesses.” “Your Honor, I would like to call Victoria Newman to the stand,” Michael announces.
Victoria takes the stand. “Please raise your right hand,” the bailiff orders, “Do you solemnly swear that the evidence that you’re about to give in this cause, in this courtroom, will be the whole truth and nothing but the truth?” “I do,” Victoria agrees. “Be seated,” the bailiff instructs…
Scene 10
At the Courthouse, Michael begins to interrogate Victoria. “Miss Newman, why don’t you start by telling the court about your living arrangements,” he says, “Where do you currently reside?” “Um, at the Newman Ranch,” Victoria answers, “421 Larkspur Trail.” “A ranch… so this is a large property?” Michael probes. “It’s a very large property,” Victoria elaborates, “There’s my parents, Victor and Nikki Newman. They live in the main house, and my younger sister, Abby, my former sister-in-law Sharon, my nephew Noah and my niece Faith, all live there too. Then there’s my brother Nicholas Newman and his family: his wife Phyllis and his daughter Summer. They live in the Tack House on the same property.” “So when he’s with you, your son is surrounded by love from a large extended family,” Michael summarizes. “Exactly,” Victoria confirms, “They all adore him and he loves spending time with his grandparents, his uncle and aunts, and especially his cousins Noah, Faith, and Summer.”
Scene 11
After leaving Jana’s, Scott goes to Indigo for a drink. Devon is behind the bar. “Bourbon,” Scott orders. “Long day?” Devon makes conversation. “Bad day,” Scott clarifies. “You new in town?” Devon inquires, “I haven’t seen you around before…” “This is my first time in here,” Scott admits, “I came back this summer. My mom lives here: Lauren Fenmore.” “Oh, you’re Lauren’s son? Scott, right?” Devon realizes, “I’ve heard about you. We travel in the same circles… Hey, maybe you’ve met my girlfriend? She works at your mom’s boutique…” Just as Devon is saying that, Roxanne Porter arrives at Indigo. “And there she is now…,” Devon announces. Scott turns around and he and Roxanne make eye contact.
Scene 12
Michael continues to question Victoria. “I want to point out what the plaintiff has so conveniently left out. In her opening statement, Counsel claimed that Mr. Hellstrom has always been the child’s primary caregiver,” he recaps, “Ms. Newman, is it true that you were quote-unquote ‘absent’ from the beginning of your child’s life?” Victoria hesitates. “Yes,” she confesses. “Why don’t you tell the courts why that is,” Michael suggests. “I suffered a head injury during the Clear Springs Explosion. It left me comatose for months, all while I was still pregnant with Re— my son.” “And there was a time when the situation became so dire that the doctors wanted to deliver your son prematurely in order to save your life,” Michael announces, “Isn’t that right?” “Yes,” Victoria nods.
“Your Honor, this is hearsay,” Alex interrupts, “Miss Newman was in a coma, so how could she know the exact extent of the conversations?” “I’ll take that into consideration,” the judge clarifies, “Mr. Baldwin, continue…”
“Ms. Newman’s mother is prepared to testify that her daughter would have wanted her baby’s life to be saved before her own, while it was in fact Mr. Hellstrom’s wish to save Ms. Newman instead of their baby.” “Objection!” Alex shouts again, “Can the defendant’s mother read minds. How can she say for certain what her daughter would have wanted?” “Because my mother knows me!” Victoria insists, “She knew that I would have wanted my baby’s life to be saved before my own, that I would do anything to protect my child, including give my own life!” “Mr. Baldwin, control your client!” the judge orders. “I’m sorry, Your Honor,” Michael apologizes, “Let me finish up here… so Ms. Newman, your absence from your son’s life after his birth was due to a coma, not because you were a bad mother… and you’ve taken an active role in the raising of your son ever since you’ve been healthy?” “Of course,” Victoria states, “I mean, I’ve missed days or even weeks sometimes because of business trips, but so has his father. I don’t think that makes either of us an irresponsible parent. I have been and always will be devoted to my son and nothing is going to change that.” “That’ll be all, Your Honor,” Michael says.
Scene 13
As Devon leaves to serve other customers, Roxanne stays behind for a moment. Scott attempts to talk to her. “So how’s everything going?” Scott whispers to Roxanne. “I can’t really talk to you right now…,” Roxanne tries to push him away. “Why not?” Scott asks. “Devon!” Roxanne states the obvious, “He knows about us… well, not us, not that it was you, but that I cheated on him…” “Things seem to be okay between you two,” Scott comments. “Yeah, well, for now,” Roxanne admits, “Devon seems to have forgiven me, but I don’t want him to get suspicious if he sees us talking to each other. The last thing I need is for him to find out who that it was you that I slept with. ‘Cause I don’t know how he’s react.”
Scene 14
Jana is cleaning up the last of the mess in the living room when her estranged husband Kevin Fisher returns home from a business trip.
“Kevin…?” Jana remarks in astonishment. “You surprised to see me?” Kevin asks, “You knew I was coming home today. Remember?” He sounds worried that Jana’s memory had somehow worsened. Jana laughs it off. “It just completely slipped my mind. That’s all,” she reassures him, “Nothing for you to be concerned about.”
“Where’s Scott?” Kevin inquires, realizing that his friend is not there. “I sent him home,” Jana admits. “What? Why?” Kevin reacts. “I needed some alone time…,” Jana says. She bends down to pick up the dustpan that the glass shards were swept into. “What happened here?” Kevin asks. “Just a little accident,” Jana tells him. Kevin notices the shattered picture frame. “We can fix it,” Jana assures him. Kevin hopes she’s talking about more than just the frame.
Scene 15
In the courtroom, Alex prepares to cross-examine Victoria. “Get ready for fireworks,” she whispers to JT as she stands up to approach the stand.
“Miss Newman, may I call you that?” Alex begins, closely calculating her question. “Yes,” Victoria agrees. It wasn’t what Victoria expected for her first question, and it throws her off-guard a little. “How many times have you been married?” Alex asks.
“Your Honor, now it’s my turn to object!” Michael calls out. “Judge, we are trying to establish fitness to raise a child here. Now if Mr. Baldwin is allowed to paint my client’s girlfriend as unstable, then I’m allowed to show that his client has a much longer history of instability.” “I agree,” the judge sides with Alex, “Proceed with your questioning.”
“Thank you, Your Honor,” Alex says, “But actually, let me rephrase the question: Miss Newman, how many times have you been divorced?” Victoria quietly breathes a sigh of relief since she can answer the latter question honestly. “Four times,” she admits. “And your relationship with Mr. Hellstrom is the only one that produced a child,” Alex states, “Is that right?” “I had a daughter, Eve, with my husband Cole, but she passed away,” Victoria clarifies. “So your son with Mr. Hellstrom is your only living child?” Alex asks. “Yes,” Victoria confirms. “So I can assume that your son is the most important man in your life then?” Alex inquires. “Yes,” Victoria says again. “Are you sure about that?” Alex questions, offering Victoria another chance to admit her marriage to Billy.
“My client has already answered the question loud and clear,” Michael interrupts. The judge nods. “Move on, Ms. Perez,” he instructs. “Okay, so it’s just the two of you, then?” Alex rephrases the question, “Just you and your son?”
“Please! If you’re trying to suggest that JT and Mackenzie can provide a stable family environment, which Victoria doesn’t have being single, you can save it,” Michael shouts, interrupting Alex’s speech again. “Counsellor, you’re out of line,” the judge reprimands him. “Actually, Your Honor, Mr. Baldwin brings up an interesting point,” Alex says, taking the opportunity that Michael just created for her to expose Victoria’s marriage to Billy Abbott, “No one said anything about Ms. Newman being single…” “Is Counsel suggesting that Ms. Newman isn’t single?” Michael demands. “Counsellor, get to the point,” the judge tells Alex. “That’s exactly what I’m saying, Your Honor,” Alex confirms. She’s starting directly at Victoria, who’s panicking inside.
Scene 16A
Back at the Fishers’ Apartment, Jana unexpectedly pulls Kevin into a kiss. “What did I do to deserve this?” Kevin asks, between kisses. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking while you were gone…,” Jana whispers. “Oh, yeah? And what have you decided?” Kevin asks with a smile. “I want you, Kevin…,” Jana announces, “Remind me how much you love me…” They kiss again.
“This isn’t the ‘Welcome Home’ I was expecting…,” Kevin tells Jana, “But I’m sure as hell not complaining…” He kisses her this time.
Scene 17A
Back at Indigo, Scott watches from the bar as Devon and Roxanne kiss. He turns back to his drink…
Scene 16B
Kevin and Jana are now in bed together, kissing passionately…
Scene 17B
Scott is still drinking alone at Indigo…
Scene 18
Meanwhile, back in the courtroom, Nikki and Victor watch as their daughter’s secret marriage is about to be exposed, a secret that could cost her custody of her son. “This isn’t going well. Victor, you have to do something,” Nikki quietly urges him. “Sweetheart, I will act when the time is right,” Victor whispers back. He’s waiting to see how Alex’s announcement plays out.
Nikki is not happy with that response. “You have been promising her since this started that you would help her regain custody of Reed,” she reminds him, “Victor, will you be able to come through for her, or not?”
In the next row back, Abby gets a text from Billy asking how the court case is going. She has a confused look on her face. She’s unsure why Billy is so interested.
Alex continues her speech: “Your Honor, Ms. Newman has been lying to the courts for months,” she reveals, “I would like to introduce, into evidence, a copy of her marriage certificate.” Victor, Michael, and JT are all shown with confused faces.
Ms. Newman, or should I say, Mrs. Abbott? You are married to Billy Abbott, isn’t that right?”
Next Time on The Young and The Restless
How will Alex’s revelation impact the custody proceedings? Will Nicholas be found? And what other surprises await those at the custody hearing.
